Do You Believe In Miracles?
When faced with the daunting task of leapfrogging 8 teams, I casually tossed out the need to play .700 ball to get us into the post season. There was also the #AHOFO post which put the call out to the universe to *win out.* I believe that feat would have taken us to 122 wins for the year. The latter was a joke, the former….I guess that was kind of a joke, too. How could this terrible baseball team play .700 ball the rest of the way?
And then came June 24th, one of the many low points in this lost season. The Giants were in the middle of getting woodshedded by Colorado. The blog was apathetically irate if that’s even possible. And then I got this text from Diggity:

I went back to the blog with this idea, found the saddest sack post I could find (shockingly it was Snarkk 🙂 🙂 ) and posted this:

And from there, we began to slowly get the band back together again. I gathered enough of our finest men to storm Oracle with one valiant, sustained push. This pic was taken just before the coup.

I know we look calm but let me tell you, I looked into the eyes of the troops before we went into battle. They knew how serious this was, they knew the task they faced and they knew the consequence should we fail. Flap Nation was counting on us. We could not and would not let them down…..
After the dust settled our mission seemed accomplished. There wasn’t much left to do besides sit back and wait. There’s even a rumor that I was sitting back and waiting so good I fell into a deep sleep on the train ride home. 🙂
What followed was perhaps the most unexpected run in San Francisco Giants history. A run we are still on. We’ve played .823 ball since that game. EIGHT MOTHERFUCKING TWENTY THREE BALL……
I’m not sure where this ends but after 3 years of losing I am happy to ride this out with no expectations whatsoever. From here until the trade deadline I will remain positive and hopeful. I support any move Z decides to make with the caveat that I get to grade them immediately. Simply put, I am a proud Facebook housewife until July 31st.
Through the magic of snapchat my daughter created this for you all. Enjoy!

#AHOFO
One of your best, Flavor.
Proud to be a part of this number!
WAD?
Funny thing–I’d never been to Public House but flav had said if I was there early he’d be there. So after security line I go inside. place is packed and can’t find him. He and SD are both 6-4/6-5 and very noticeable so after walk around I decide to make another pass, again no luck so as I go out door to patio they are all right there (and only few feet to left from where I first came in), in midst of running up $100+ bar tab. Rest of course is hist.
6’6 my man. I’m 51 I ain’t getting short changed at this stage of the game
Great post. Fun to be on a nice little run.
Flap Nation makes shit happen!
OK, I take credit for this run. I had had it, hit bottom, the nadir. BF swooped in, saw a Flapper and the Giants, in need. The Flapalooza revived my spirits, no doubt. And, it put a fire in the belly of this Giants team…
If the sirens ring out and I see a Flapper down I storm the battle field, matey
Women of Facebook react to BF’s post:

this run reminds me a little of The Story of a Sundressed Goddess…..
https://oneflapdown77.com/the-official-flap-mascot-the-sun-dressed-goddess/
Flap Nation came to that game on a mission.
Mission Accomplished! Somewhere between the Public House magic( and a few beers 🍻) the walk of knowing nod confidence inside the park, the Giants felt the vibes, and have played unbelievable and downright exciting baseball ever since!!
Yeah, the storming or Oracle by Flap Nation was a blast. Good beer good friends good times. The fire has been lit! No prisoners!
You should change the hash tag on your daughter’s creation to # AHOFOSHO.
I do believe DTV has eliminated Channel 720, so no BB for me. Carry on.
OSF
Direct TV? Channel 696 for me.
Giants/Mets tomorrow are on FS1, Direct TV channel 219, at 1:00 Pacific Time.
Having said all that, the Giants tonight are not on 696. They are on local NBC affiliates as they often are on Friday nights (which is Channel 31 in the Calif. Central Valley.)
Although Channel 31 is not really my local NBC affiliate. 31 made a deal with NBC to show those Friday night games.
Once a month or so 31 shows a Sac River Cats game, which is cool.
My FS1 says tomorrow’s game is in 4k.
Does that work on a regular HDTV?
Guess I’ll find out…
Quarter after 1 (13th inning) when I bailed.
Woke up to find out we are still init2winit.
Now that’s what i’m talking about.
AHOFO.
Hang in there Old Seals Fan, hopefully you find a feed somewhere.
Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing. I guess BF was about 1-2 then. I suspect that many of us were a little older than that when it happened. Where were YOU?
I was at Candlestick Park! Day game and it was announced over the PA system. I can’t believe I passed up TV coverage and went to the ball game instead. Shows you where my head was at back then.
Booze, broads and ball games- -the sweet treats of youth.
Very good, Clubber. The famous Gaylord Perry home run game.
I think the homer came after they landed but before they walked on the moon…
https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SFN/SFN196907200.shtml
wow awesome. Manny Mota, another one Giants let get away. Osteen was pretty dang good in his own right, ERA about as low as Perry’s. Wille Mac with the OPS of 1.158 30 bombs 79 rbis in July.
Now it is booze, ball games and bongs. The sweet bird of youth has checked out.
OSF
I was at home, my Dad was working the bbq in the backyard when my Mom yelled out come inside they just landed on the Moon!!
My dad was extra stoked cause they started the mission to the moon on July 16th his birthday so we just kept on celebrating 🥳!
And when Neil Armstrong reached the bottom of the step and said:”One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” it was something special you never forget!!
All of it awesome, except he slightly botched his little speech. He was supposed to say “One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” By leaving out the “a,” the speech lost some of its meaning. But he had lots of things on his mind at that moment, so we can see how that would happen. 🙂
For a while NASA claimed he had said it right, but eventually they had to concede he didn’t.
The audio does crackle right before the word “man,” so I kind of wonder if he heard the crackle and it threw him off a little.
I would’ve used Lou Gehrig’s line and just substituted Moon for Earth…
1. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
2. Austin Slater (R) RF
3. Pablo Sandoval (S) 3B
4. Stephen Vogt (L) C
5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
6. Mike Yastrzemski (L) LF
7. Kevin Pillar (R) CF
8. Joe Panik (L) 2B
9. Tyler Beede (R) P
looks great. Go get em. 5 of 8 not in the starting LU opening day. Fuck opening day man, so much changes later….
To celebrate the Moon landing I give a knowing nod and toast🥂🍸🍻🥃 to 4 former ballplayers!
Wally Moon
Greg “Moon Man”Minton
Bill “Spaceman”Lee
John “Blue Moon”Odom
I put this movie just a notch below Hoosiers, I haven’t seen it in a while, might have to fire it up.
His wife ruins it for me.
She is so fuckin’ annoying…
Agree Loo!
She was a major spaz/bubblehead it just ruined it for me!
But the throwing the ball to his dad is the moment of tears…
epic
what’s the O/u on K’s tonight for Degrom? I’ll set the line at 10 who’s got the sack to take the under?
Not me, although he’s been hittable this year.
Another guy who often struggles early and you gotta get that pitch count up…
I’ve got the sack to take the under BF!
Giants are real focused to get to that .500 record and their just on a roll that’s just seems unstoppable right now. Degrom’s great but beatable, and his run support hasn’t been their either..
If he grooves one to Yaz, it’s gonna get wet…
Beede has a chance to become a real San Francisco Giant tonight…
Matt Harvey DFA’ed…
I wouldn’t give up a case of Harvey Bars for that guy right now…
Panda (.094) has majors lowest average since the break for players with 25 AB minimum…
.
If he’s walking from the airport maybe…
Lulz
way too much space taken up with this Zumiee
It was all so brilliant, I couldn’t think of what to leave out.
I would of preferred stating Solano at 3rd tonight over a struggling Panda..
And the missing Dick…
deGrom looks emaciated…
that was surprising, Stanford men usually show more moxie than that.
be interesting to see what men’s b-ball shows this year after losing best player again.
pads lose again (11 of 15) and Rox getting hammered by Yanks so giants assured of staying out of last for couple more days at least.
Sando is becoming a hmmnn. He’s about 3-35 one decent game in colo and that’s about it. Gotta figure out a way to get him some time off.
Does Vogt look a little like our MIA buddy Chi or am I mis-remembering?
yes he does. couple nice pictures of Chi in bucket. One with Nukes and the trophy was great.
Speaking of Dick and his last poke last night. didn’t look like he really got all of it but pulled into RF corner for a double that he hustled out. so few of Giants LH hitters do that, pull the ball down into corner. It’s shortest distance for bomb in the whole yard. Even Kuiper noticed with Belt up and runner on 1b how much room RF was giving him, positioned way over into RCF. Instead these guys (Craw belt Panik Sando) hit ball on the ground that way but not in the air.
Miller, lol. “There’s getting a good jump and then there’s just….that”
As hot as Dick is and how he just rakes FB’s it shocks me he’s not stating everygame.Unless Boch just wants to monitor his back more, although it sure doesn’t look bad when he’s swing the big shaft..
That’s the reason. They don’t want to push it too hard with him, he having missed the last two seasons.
Listening to Zito makes me want to punch him in the face a little bit.
4 Ks already. 98 right past Yaz.
BF, your open letter to Zito at the end of his career was a terrific piece of writing, and I agreed with it. Check it out, folks:
https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/13828191/posts/10393
I’m guessing it was your longest main post ever on the blog.
man, i remember almost none of that. The surf board comment at the end kicked up some memories. It’s funny, I spend very little time on these threads. Today’s was long and that took about 10 minutes. But that Zito thread looks like I spent at least an hour on it. You’d think I’d remember an hour of my life, right?
Great job on it. Great flow to the essay. Nice intro, strong main body, and nice conclusion that flows logically from all that preceded it.
thanks Zumiee. I fire up some good ones now and again.
Magnificent!
the surfboard line was the best part of it.
I always liked watching Cano hit. He got 2 line drive singles late game last night, now he rockets one into corner. Dad is legend in DR who almost got to ML ball and named after #42.
Beede with 5 shutout innings 0 BBs 2 hits only 48 pitches.
DeGrom slider sits at 93 on cbs site. thrown lot more pitches so far with zero run support
I honestly think that, if nobody told and DeGrom asked him to, Kruk would let him fuck him. Or he’d fuck DeGrom if he ordered him to.
1.0 as usual, he gets absolute shit respect here…….
Dude, did you see what I said about him the other night?
I thought it was a POTD lock…
Remind us!

Pillar is the Brooks Robinson of CFs…
Gonna watch It about 15 years earlier than I’d planned to. Game is on in the background on mute. Talk to ya later.
Huh?
Belt’s size 14 shoes got that play right at 1st..
Yeah Giants doing a great job building up Degrom’s pitch count, while Beede is very efficient..
Awesome writing there, Flav. Great stuff.
Pablo needs to get his bat going. Got an opportunity here.
Just turned n the game, TylerBlack Shoes Beede is dealing.
Damn that was close.
there’s 10 Ks. He’s thrown 96 pitches though. Guy is fun to watch.
Sandoval needs a platoon partner at 3b.
Giants are carrying 5 outfielders, though, so Solano is the only back-up infielder, and they don’t like him at third.
Well they don’t need to carry Jerez an longer bring up 3B Zach Green…
They had Slater playing some infield for the River Cats this year, including 11 games at 3rd. Probably just considered an emergency guy for 3rd right now, but I guess he could be an option.
The shoes are cool, but why do the table legs have tennis balls on them?
So they don’t make scraping noises on the floor.
Great bunt – great play…
Shit!!!
One hit Joe!
Need a WP…
I’m multi tasking Loo. And It is pretty stupid so far, I just got done watching Stranger Things that was 10 times better, and free. I see I nailed Degrom’s K number on the button…..
Yeah you got the best of me BF..Props to you sir!
You’re all the way back…
You guys up for another 16 inning game especially are East Coast Flappers??
I posted a pic of myself as a woman in a dress today I’m in a very eviscerating mood. Beede is really impressing tonight I was wrong about him.
I thought so, Flavor. Some 20 somethings did that to me a few weeks ago.
I think I’m a hotter chick than you…
Do you think Kruk would want to bang both of you in a threesome?
I always liked the black shoes look, since it was all I used from Little League thru High School..
Like the Model T you could get them any color you wanted, as long as it was black.
At what point do you just drill fucking O’Neill in the ribs? Jesus. He sticks his elbow over the plate. They have to call that shit.
Woooooooo. That was getting iffy.
Beede is pitching a hell of a game but ya gotta hit for him here, don’t ya?
That answers that.
8 strong shut out innings for black shoes Beede. wow never would have thought this was possible.
Mets btw other than Alonso HR off the chump Jerez have scored 1 run in 24 innings.
8 innings 89 pitch shutout beauty for Beede!
Don’t love this match-up…
Alonso latest victim of HR Derby Syndrome…
Great inning by the Wince.
Let’s wrap it up!
Blue doesn’t want to go extras tonight.
Neither do you guys huh Bozo?
Damn, so close for Craw.
Fuck Oracle
Never heard of Jomboy till that Boone vid the other day. It’s my favorite place now.
Here we go again.
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Here we go again.
Ha, this is becoming a nightly occurrence.
Hey, I was going to say that.
I hear a echo from Macdog&Bozo lol
BEEDE!!!! The best thing of this (so far) season. Could this guy become a Buehler type stud??
Thanks, New York!!
Wow!
Walk-off whatever-the-hell-that-was!
