Game One To The Good Guys
Sorry guys, lot going on here today, no time for a legit thread. Too bad, it’s so great to get Game 1 in the bank.

Tauchmann actually got on base last night with a PH walk. Guy is a threat, now.
Meanwhile, I think Duggar is now at something like 7 for his last 45 ? Positively Blanco-like summer swoon.
Meanwhile, I like Yaz. He hits dingers, he’s the best OFer they have.
But, he’s at .235 and left 6 ROB last night.
Following on BF’s lede yesterday, how they are 25 games above .500 is almost inexplicable, though we’ve followed this journey all season.
These aren’t “misfits” of 2010 with a totally dominant pitching staff, but we need a name for them…
Ramos will hopefully be up in a New York minute to cover for the holograms.
I hope so.
Give him a few weeks at AAA, then bring him up unless he just craters there.
He can field, that’s not an issue.
If he can hit even .225 up in SF with some RH pop, why not?
I’d bring him up for the next Dodger series.
We are gonna have to do something because the core shouldn’t be relied upon for the second half.
WillieD commented: “How they are 25 games above .500 is almost inexplicable.”
Not really. In today’s game it is all about getting on base and hitting HRs. Giants lead the NL in HRs.
Other reasons:
Giants are 1st in NL (third overall) in pitches per plate appearance (4.03 per AB).
Over 300 IP from Gausman, Disco, and Wood. No way they are in 1st place without this from those starters.
Also 2nd in team ERA and first in saves.
184 pinch-hit ABs that has translated to 9 PH HRs (most in the majors).
Also 4th in SLG and OPS and 7th in OBP in the majors.
What’s inexplicable is the guys that are putting up those numbers, Chi…
Now there is definitely truth to that, Loo. To me that is the most amazing thing about this team…their ability to “plug-and-play” up and down the line-up and continue to get production. I think a lot of that is a testament to the coaching staff (in addition to the players producing), as the players regularly rant about how the coaching staff does such a great job at getting them prepared for each game.
The 2002 Kenny Lofton is exactly what we need…
A good Ramos Fizz is just what the bartender suggests.
And the timing is just right for the AAA promotion.
If he rakes Ramos might even be up before the deadline as Tauchman waves sayonara.
Really to many has beens in the Giants Outfield time to get aggressive going forward.
I’m all in going after Bryant he fills needs in both OF are 3B a perfect fit.A power hitting RH bat in his prime.
I would easily give up anybody not named Luciano, Ramos& Harrison,Bader are Bishop ..Bart&Hellie, Logan Wyatt just for openers to dangle to the Cubs..
I would love to have Bryant, too, but all indications are the priority will be a SP. The Athletic had a good article today on potential SP targets.
Lol. Every bartender I ever knew hated making Ramos Fizz’s.
Can we find a Cody Ross like 2010?
Saw these guys open for the Dead at Frost in 78?
Dodger SP tonight is making big league debut:

I think he went to Kokonuts U…
And the Final Jeopardy answer is:
Rob Brantly
Greg Allen
Estevan Florial
brantly replaced DJ in the line up I know that and Florial got called up earlier today. Not sure about Allen
Good enough, Flavor.
The correct question is “Who is batting 6-7-8 for the New York Yankees tonight?”
Oh. I never watched much jeopardy. I just knew about 2 of them from casual daily research
Jeopardy is incredibly overrated…
It’s nothing without Alex.
If that’s their 6-7-8, I’d hate to see their 9.
Tyler Wade.
I should’ve put him in there…
Conner Joe sighting in Colorado tonight! He’s batting 2nd
Holy shit! I thought seeing Sherfy in a Dodger uni was weird. Connor Joe from Kokomo back up? He was the hologrammiest of holograms. Never saw him getting another cup of coffee.
He’s played in 26 games for the Rockies this season, according to Baseball Reference.
“Dodger SP tonight is making big league debut“
Facing someone they’ve never faced before; not a problem for the Giants. 🙂
Hopefully he’s only the opener and we can spank their pen again.
1. LaMonte Wade Jr (L) 1B
2. Buster Posey (R) C
3. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
4. Wilmer Flores (R) 3B
5. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
6. Donovan Solano (R) 2B
7. Mike Tauchman (L) CF
8. Thairo Estrada (R) SS
9. Alex Wood (R) P
Beat the Bums!
Some of the smoke from the California fires has actually made it all the way here.
A local TV weatherman says it’s responsible for the beautiful hazy sunset.
I thought that was a little insensitive if not completely idiotic…
I think it’s the Bootleg fire in Oregon, near the Calif. border, that’s the problem. I add cities I visit to my weather app, so I had to scroll past New York this morning to check on the strange heatwave in Galway, and I was surprised to see an air quality warning for NY. Then I saw a NYT article, too. Just wait, though; later this summer, Calif. will probably have fires larger than the Bootleg.
No problem for the local weather guy.
He’s enjoying it…
Back in May, Muncy broke up a tie game with an 0-2 homer off Wood.
Any suggestions?
straight to the ribs, first pitch. Fuck him.
No need to fire them up, or suffer another injury should one of them retaliate. He homered last night and they still lost. Pitch carefully and get the rest of them out. I like Krukow recipe, hard in/soft away jam him/try and induce rollover groundout into shift.
Doghairs with a SP just up from minors?
Bad news for Giants, they crater against guys they’ve never seen…
Lineup I saw had Pujols and Pollock hitting behind Muncy. more worried about keeping guys in front him, Taylor and Turner, off bases. No Betts tonight either.
We need to back Muncy off the plate at least. Turner as well. They fucking hang over the plate. Turner is dodging pitches in the strike zone.
Either back him off the plate, or give him 4 wide and walk him…
Don’t treat Muncy like he’s anything special. He’ll eventually cool down against SF. Maybe not tonight, but maybe at a time when LA needs him most.
11 for 31 with 8 homers. Fuck that.
The moon here is like an orange – pink…
Good omen having a Giants orange moon in NY!!
May be, Kat.
Looks more like half a grapefruit…
Conner Joe just blasted a 2 run bomb
So glad the Giants didn’t get stuck with any of those $300 million contracts.
I don’t think they’ll ever give anyone a 9 figure deal…
it’s such a half assed lazy GM way to build a team
Little surprised the Giants are starting 4 lefties against the Doghair’s lefty SP?
Wade hasn’t had a hit 0-24 against lefties why not Ruf at 1B?
Slater not in either over Sockless? yikes
Dickerson too, need another RH bat in this OF!!
Posey booed by idiot Dodger fans.
Still strange to see him with the bat way off his shoulder…
What happened to the rookie SP?
Dodgers are using an opener.
Wondering if LA is poaching signs somehow…
Moving runners with ease.
Dick bomb!
Lefty Dick Dick Dick!
whoa off the LHP no less.
Moving the runner with even greater ease.
Kat, don’t think this guy will be in long—especially if he gives up bombs to LHs. wow another great grab by Dogs RF.
Dick must of loaded up on a Philly cheesesteak for lunch!
Wilmet and Dick hitting shots..
Muncy strikes again.
Not doing something different with him to change this hit/RBI terror is the baseball equivalent of strolling in and out of a Covid ward with no mask…
Shit. We kept him in the yard.
Hah!! Donnie Two-times.
The pitch wasn’t a strike, FWIW.
Nothing like a good dick shot.
That was a dumb challenge.
Yes it was.Did Dunston start drinking early tonight?
Has Bellinger always been that upright?
He’s just way to stiff up there and hard to uncoil like that imo..
But continue on like that atleast thru this series and the 3 at Oracle..
Good to see Wood with the extra couple MPH.
Yeah, seems like he’s back in the groove he was in earlier in the season.
Good batter to debut against…
Wade goes deeeep!
Right in the wheelhouse…
Welcome to the Big Leagues Johias Gray..
Wade smokes the rookie deep!!
I guess they foresaw the righties coming in. Wade with the big boy bomb.
Yaz needs to get rolling
#9 for Mr. Wade, he of .500 slugging coming in and .847 OPS. Baggs tweets Giants are 30-11 when they hit 2 bombs in a game.
I remember Billy Williams having a perfect .500 slugging percentage one year.
Probably 1970, when so many guys had sick years…
I do like the inside fastballs to these guys.
If yer gonna walk him, might as well hit him.
Oh fuck muncy
Hah! You’d better get this next out, Alex.
Pretty stupid of Kapler to challenge that HBP.
dang he’d K’d 5 guys in a row. gets out of it though.
Cool. Hit 2 dogs and it didn’t cost them.
Right, that worked out fine!
Fuck face Turner yappin at Wood after 3rd out…
Missed it.
Alright if you’re going to drill Dodgers what better then Turner& Muncy with 2 outs and face Poo-Hoo and get a weak ass grounder!!
Can anyone on the Giants hit an off speed pitch?
This guy can
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/brandon-belt-474832?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
We need him!
Tauchman can’t catch a break.
His last two starts have been quite a case study.
Tauchman at least can get a walk, but the fucking ump screws him on that.
Because like GD that can’t hit off speed pitches. So they just take him looking foolish..
Nice by Yaz to keep him at 3rd.
How can you send up the pitcher with the tying runs on 2nd and 3rd?
Robert’s looks like a fool..
Agree, Kat,
Their pen’s been taxed of late, but still.
I take it as an insult to the Giants – like they don’t really take this too seriously…
Really wondering that myself. They s trying to stretch him out?
Middleton with cliutch jump shot and 2 FTs trying to close out Suns
Muncy got hit ?
Good, whether by accident or design.
What result if the Giants just hit him every time up the rest of the season? 😉
Other than a brawl, I mean, after the first few…
What was great is Turner got hit before him. Turner started jawing at Wood on his way off the field.
Thairo-ic!!!
Sweeeet!!! Stop the bleeding, add the blast+!!!
Gyros are just a friggin’ HR machine, when it’s on…
Thairo making name for himself at Latrine.
CHIPS Estrada going yard!
Makes Robert’s look more of an idiot letting his pitcher hit! But thanks Dave!
Congrats to the Bucks. Giannis 50 points. If Durant’s a half shoe size smaller, they’re bounced in the 2nd round. Instead they’re champs.
Crazy.
Good for M’Wocky.
Always liked that town…
Posey’s numbers blow me away every time he come to bat. .425 OBP and .561 SLG.
Yaz off the schnied!!
Yaz bomb! When the Giants Come to Town….
Incoming!!!
