I love screen shotting Dodgers in dumb, compromising positions….

The ghost of Steve Sax really came through for us last night.
Yeah bitches, dats how we beat you. Suck on it, LA.

That was one wacky game.
Kind of clown show, but great ending. Youse guys that stay with it til 2:30 in morning are amazing.
Glad I did, sort of. Paying for it this AM.
I had multiple in-game dozes…
Huge win! Bueller vs TDB tomorrow so it would be nice to win today too!I was telling my wife last night I wish my dad was here. She loves the Giants but didn’t know or care enough to be pissed and annoyed that our stupid sport has changed so much that even a horrible hitting pitcher like Dsscalfina didn’t bunt with runner on 2nd and no outs. his 1st swing was a comical miss on a ball 18 inches inside. Shacking my head!
Yeah,that was utterly baffling.
Clearly I was so annoyed I forgot how to spell:)
J don’t even try to spell his name. I just call him Disco. 🙂
Then I just misspelled “I.”
Posey ran hard to firstbase on that almost routine grounder. His hustle was key.
Posey admitted he screwed up rundown. Kap said Dickerson leg bothered him enough that Webb would have to play OF if they hadn’t won it then. Crawford gaining MVP votes more everyday.
What a moral booster that game was. Just goes to show baseball is not always routine. I don’t know if we’ve beaten Bueller this year but I know he’s always tough on us I think our hitters need to be patient at the plate if we are gonna have a chance.
Exhausting and to be honest with all the missed opportunities to win or at least expand on the 1-0, I was not feeling good about the outcome……..38 LOB…….With Longo and LaStella possibly starting tonight, maybe they cash-in. Time to take a nap…got only 5 hours sleep
Good point about all the stranded base runners.
3 for 21 with runners in scoring position if I remember right.
Crawfish to Posey in the 10th was the play of the season in my book. Absolutely no margin for hesitation or error by either guy. Perfect grab, perfect throw, perfect tag. A perfectly executed play that saved a run.
OUT!!

And yeah, John Facenda used to talk of the ballet of football, this is kinda similar!!
SAFE!!
Both great photos of great plays.
The ghost of Steve Sax, indeed! Those games were funny as hell as we almost always sat down the RF line and scoot down to the box seaets and would ride Orel Sax all night (and Jack Clark occasionally).
This east coaster could not stay awake but could hear giving up the lead and then once I awoke at 2:15, started the DVR playback and the recording ended right at 2 am and got to see the tying score in the 11th but not the gane winning error until switching over to mlb channel live. We will take it. Would have smarted to have lost that one.
Still trying to understand the 9th inning call with both runners on third. Isnt Turner the automatic out?
The lead runner is entitled to the bag. The trail runner was out when posey tagged him on the. Base. Turner wandered off 3rd as the trail runner did. Posey tagged the wrong guy. If he tagged turner off the bag, game over. Posey knew it after he tagged the wrong guy.
The triumphant return of the little white skirts!
They’ve become only thing I get out of bed for…
3:16
Quoting the bible?
Oh,the whackspot!
Both!
Will Smith had never played 1b. Roberts earlier switched out Muncy, of all people. Gift that keeps on giving.
Is there any point to even looking at probable pitchers anymore?
About as accurate as the fuckin weather forecasts…
Giants strategy will obviously be to try to get a lot of pitches out of Urias AQAP.
A 21 pitch AB from BB9 would be nice…
Rough day for Shaw and Stanford Cardinal.
That game was the most frustrating game I can remember. Seriously, it had me fuming. To win it was like found money, and lots of it. That throw wasn’t that bad — if LA hadn’t put a guy on 1b that wasn’t near being a 1bman, they might still be playing. Seriously, the Giants have to figure a way to hit the damn ball, hit it anywhere, when they have RISP and to score them is absolutely necessary without swinging from the heels for an HR. Choke up, shorten the swings, whatever. Make contact. Seriously, Yaz needs to sit for game or two and get his head together. The dude is clueless of late at making contact. Don’t swing at high pitches, to start…
Yup. 3-21 with RISP is insane. Not making contact with a runner at 3rd and 1 out is awful. And we must have done that 5 times.
So it’s a good thing SF held Dodgers to 2 runs…1 in stupid rule inning and other Posey could have stopped at 3b. And that Disco shut them out for 6. Amidst all the doom…
Got no complaints about the pitching last night. Disco was just fine, better than fine; since he’s usually been a punching bag for LA this season.
But, the hitting with RISP is in crisis mode, and that cannot be denied…
21 ABs with RISP is crazy enough.
Agree with all of this.
Between naps all I wanted to do was curse…
Krukow’s latest annoying habit is calling every hittable pitch a “hanger”…
Been saying that for 20 years.
I just don’t remember it being this constant…
Yaz really needs to get his shit together. Posey is at least putting the ball in play, meek as it is, it did force the error.
I don’t see any downside to bringing up Bart for a look.
They’ve been shuttling motherfuckers faster than twitter can keep pace with…
This 28 man expanded roster is dumb. Kruk and Kuip have ripped it on their pregame shows.
The old 40 man expansion was dumb because you could use a ton of pitchers every Sept game, so the games lasted forever. Now, they went too far in the other direction. So, they might as well have a dedicated Oracle to Sac express train to shuttle guys with options back and forth to stack the 28 man with different bodies every game. If they had an expanded roster to something like 32 (6 additional), and name a fresh list of the 28 selected out of the 32 for for each game, that would make some sense…
Jarlin unsung hero.
Stix was onto him way back…
Jay Jackson starting tonight?
Yes.
Energy level at the park was electric ⚡️playoff intensity! Nothing better then a constant chant of “Beat LA” ringing thru my section as Dodger fans had to just eat it with an occasional turn of the neck stare back! Geez my daughter sure has the fire and passion I must of instilled in her at a young age, she was practically taunting some Dodger fans like how much they suck, and that’s right you want a piece of me! I almost put my hand over my eyes, but had a grin going as well…
Nice to get the lead back, full house today, Giants/Dodgers best rivalry in Baseball (NY/Boston too) take this game somehow and they will still stay in 1st after the weekend.A dream of a sweep 🧹 and a 3 game lead the ultimate..
Awesome Kat. Glad you were there and represented, family too.
Way to bring it, Kat ! …
I know Slater brought in the one run but I still wonder about pinch hitting for Wade. To have the Dick manning the OF in a close game at the end made me pretty nervous.
No Shit. Ruf made a very bad throwing error when he let the trail runner get to 2nd in the 9th I think. It broke up what would have been a DP on the next batter.
The win covers up somewhat the utter fail of McGoo in last night’s playoff- like pressure situation.
This is what I’ve feared come post-season, facing tough oppo pitching and close games with tough oppo hitters who know what to do when they know a fastball is coming…
The hit was a bloop but the ones before were smacked. But Ruf made that throwing error on the 2nd single. He threw to 3rd when he should have kept the trail runner at 1st. The ground out would have been a DP.
Bloop hit on a good pitch that jammed Taylor on hands. Scoreboard! Can’t understand overflow of doom Giants W. The process has worked all year…can you enjoy it?
Jessica just.popped.on a 45-1 in r1 at DM
Short odds by your standards…
Trainers race?
Dickerson on IL10. Right hamstring strain
Dubon recalled from AAA & Jay Jackson is the starter today
Free Jaylin Davis!
Dubie up, Dick down, Yaz on the bench. Sounds good. Dubie and Thairo played together up the middle a lot this summer in Sac, but probably not with much shifting.
1. Darin Ruf (R) LF
2. Kris Bryant (R) RF
3. Austin Slater (R) CF
4. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
5. Buster Posey (R) C
6. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
7. Thairo Estrada (R) 2B
8. Mauricio Dubon (R) SS
9. Jay Jackson (R) P
Ha ha
Crawfish out as well. Didn’t notice that. Got Buehler tomorrow. That’ll get all the lefties in.
am i going insane? Wasn’t Doobie called up earlier in the week but then sent down again? Now he’s back?
the towncar service is on call 24/7, ready to race up and down highway 80; and the rooms at a hotel near the ballpark are reserved.
I just read that Solano, who was vaccinated, still hasn’t regained his senses of taste or smell. One full week quarantined in a nice NY hotel room, with exercise equipment, video feeds, etc., and, I bet, good room service food — which he couldn’t taste or smell. He must be depressed. Good thing the Thairo LaStella platoon seems to work.
Did they check to see if he might’ve drowned on Wednesday night?

Interesting to see a Dodger beat-writer’s take, and it’s a relatively fair take, IMO; but it will probably rankle some Giants fans.
Yeah Baseball has been messing with the wrong rules, man on 2nd in extra innings, dumb, bullpen pitcher needs to face 3 batters, and on and on. One thing I would do is the bullpen mound be just like the field mound, guys been warming up for 20 minutes, why does he need more time on the field mound? Or at least cut down on the number of warmup pitches on the field mound
My confidence in Rogers and McGee isn’t real high, and probably never will be real high, because they give up so much contact; but I gotta say Rogers completely undressed Muncy in a way I’ve never seen done to Muncy before.
Meatball…
I bet we won’t see the great Jay Jackson smile at the end of this inning.
Kruk: “Nothing wrong with your TV set”
Does anyone under 60 still say TV set?
IDK, maybe it still applies.
I still hear “don’t touch that dial” once in awhile.
I know that one is history…
JJ can go straight to the Town car.
No shower needed…
fuck bullpen games. That is all.
If Wood is unvaccinated, he’s a total idiot who really hurt his team.
he’s seriously suffering. not in the ICU yet, but he may end up there.
I wonder if he gave it to Solano.
what? obviously, they picked up covid in NY while there to play the evil mets. It’s NYers who are the devils.
Dumber than wrecking your pitching shoulder wiping out on a dirt bike?
OK, that’s very dumb, too.
I could never get angry with Bum, but that was a season killer…
What a dope,
And he hurt himself, too.
Go pat your fuckin cap now, idiot.
Why do they do that anyway?
Pollock is jacked up.
I learned about this photo in the fantastic book “Our Team,” a very well-written book about the huge role the Cleveland team had in helping to integrate MLB. It’s Larry Doby and a white teammate in a newspaper photo during the ‘48 World Series. A photo like this was groundbreaking.

Doby’s my main man…
Oh dude, I highly recommend this book. I loved reading this book. It’s so good.

I had previously known almost nothing about Doby. I had read a biography of Satchel Paige. Bill Veeck and Bob Feller also figure prominently in this book. All the characters are interesting and complex. The integration aspect is very important and fascinating, but it’s also an exciting pennant chase baseball book. The ‘48 AL pennant chase was a mad scramble among four teams.
Thumbs up
Belt K’s on a hanger.
Urias at 20 through one…
Ah Risp hit and run scores off single. Good ABs off Urias.
Imo Giants got as many as they needed last night. Key was getting on base in first place. They’re a good hitting team and numbers will turn around.
Agree openers suck. With DH it will be easier. Problem in NL is hitting for them and wasting PHs or double switching someone out of lineup.
José Quintana, our fanbase turns its frantic eyes to you
Or you just give up and let reliever hit.
I dig that huge pizza they’re showing.
Got him.
Last night watching replays of that last play, Posey flying through the air, I figured that would be a great photo, and it is. It’s this year’s Pence at the Fence. Poetry in motion.
Or the famous Angel Pagan pic…
Oh yeah, another great one.
Estrada exhibits a lot of veteran qualities…
Speaking of ABBA, a somewhat lesser known darker historical note is that Frida was a product of Nazi Germany’s lebensborn program during WWII to increase the population of Aryans around the world by encouraging Kraut soldiers to impregnate as many villager women as possible. One particular soldier impregnated Frida’s mother, a young girl in a small town in Norway during the occupation just before the end of the war. Rough life for Frida, especially when her mother died when she was only 2. Thankfully, her Grandmother had spirited her off to Sweden. Growing up in Norway as a lebensborn kid would’ve been very harsh. Yes, she’s the darker one.
heil yer booty
Anyone expecting a timely RISP hit here?
No.
I’m sure Snarkk is surprised…
For various probably coincidental reasons, the team was better before Longo and LaStella came back.
I was starting to like LaStella for awhile there. I’ve long opined that despite generally good individual numbers, Longo just doesn’t seem to make the team any better. Don’t know it for a fact….
You can thank me later for this comment when Longo hits a game-winning grand slam…
Yeah, he’s not a big impact one way or the other.
Muncy is overdue to hurt us…
Awesome!
Littell’s been mostly excellent it seems…
Well we need Longo on the if to get rid dick out of the OF
Ruf dick
They always entice us with that hit to make it 2nd and 3rd, but never the one that follows to knock a few in.
Dubon threw that ball to Levi Stadium..
Dubon throws it high, throws it deep…
Dubie Dubie Dubie. Nice range, nice backhand stop. Now let’s let it fly.
So much for Quintana starting tomorrow.
Maybe Sammy Long or Kazmir gets sacrificed to Buehler…
Bryant’s been fine but I think we need him to go on a real tear to hang on to the division…
Throw in a wild pitch and a balk and a cheap ass extra run..
The Monday game in Colorado is a day game because of Labor Day. That’s a quick turnaround after the early evening game on Sunday night in SF.
Belt should have been platooned out of the lineup tonight.
He ain’t the be all and end all, but I think they also miss Solano’s bat….
You beat me to this about Solano, they miss Wilmer too.
Yeah, agree John. Seems like the team is better with those two, plus Wade, in the lineup.
The balk rule is absurd. A few deceptive moves, yeah, they deserve the call. But most of the infractions are not only trivial, they’re almost impossible to detect. Yet the umps love to call the balk. It’s like some fanatical Christian calling down doom on even the most negligible sinner.
If the Rox are throwing some righties it might be Grave Duggar time in Colorado.
Dick is out and Yaz is lost.
It’s logical…
Standing next to the other players, Dubon looks like Barney Fife.
Yeah but Barney’s whole body was a lethal weapon according to him, Dubon’s is not..
Agree Xoot it’s such a ticky tack call that some umps just feel they need unnecessary airtime.
I don’t maybe I’m wrong but back in the day it was mostly the homeplate ump calling the balk, now everyone of them want to get into the act..Is Balking Bob Davidson crusading extra these days for his fellow umps to call more balls?
If Krukow couldn’t use the word “hang” every 30 seconds, he might perish…
By the way John, saw that pic of the Somerset Patriots ball park nearly completely underwater. And the American Cyanamid former Superfund site right next door. Yikes….. That’s one flood cleanup I wouldn’t want to go near…
Yeah, what a mess in that area. I still haven’t been to that ballpark.
Nice place to see a game.
The only foul balls or homers I ever got (2 of them!) were at that park…
Serve Pro to the rescue..
Let’s see if Yaz can lay off the high strikes…
