A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Winning Is Easy Here Now

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 8, 2021

Talk about running it up. If we win today we will be 40 (FORTY!) games over .500! I still can’t get over what’s happening this year. And with The Grave Duggar STILL with an OPS over .800 how can we not have him playing regularly? He must have been doing a slow burn after he got sent down digging many graves and writing many names on his list….

This popped up on my facebook feed today. Eight years ago today. I think this was the day Unca and Diggity discovered their kids were dating. How crazy was that?

We got Lamonte Wade Jr. for Shaun Anderson who I barely remember. Here’s what Anderson’s been up to since the trade:

This has been a nice change, as I have seen quite a few horrific games at Coors Launching Pad. Nice to go in and win a couple and a series.

GD is definitely making a case that he belongs and is doing everything he can to alleviate another limo ride to Sactown.

So, they could be at 100 wins without the rule change? I think it might also have something to do with Kershaw / May going down and Bauer getting suspended. Urias and Buehler are what, 29-6? Scherzer is 4-0 as a Dog?

I guess they could be doing better, but by how much?

      • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on September 8, 2021 at 8:49 am

Good point Chuck, sour grapes on Flem’s part if u ask me.Every team including the Giants were messing with Spider Tack at one time it was being shipped straight to the clubhouses. And on a different take Flemming talks about how squeaky clean the Giants are but fails to bring up a top pitching prospect Gregory Santos 80 game suspension for violating MLB drug policies.Flemming talks out of both sides of his mouth imo..

Along with all the hitting it was a solid game by Webb.

GD will easily takeover for Limp Dick and Slater everyday and I’m more then fine with an outfield of Wade LF,Graves CF, Yaz RF. Of course Kap always has to have his mismatches L/R so Ruf and Bryant will still see some action out there are on the infield..

I find it pretty crazy that the Giants have had to play games in 16 straight days, ending today. That’s inexcusable scheduling, IMO. It threatens player health, degrades competitiveness. I assume SF is not the only team that faced something like this, but I wonder if this is the longest stretch of any team this season without a day off…

  6. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on September 8, 2021 at 10:47 am

Yeah I’m with you Snarkk , especially after the final Dogpile game in which they didn’t hit the sack till 1am and playing a early game on Monday!
They finally get a day off on Thursday before the Cubs series but even then 3 straight day games, that’s messed up too..

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on September 8, 2021 at 10:53 am

Dodgers had to jump on a plane and fly to Chitown for a day game next day. So we are not the only team getting shit on in that way.

Hey, that 16 game stretch is behind us after today. One day, one game at a time and just win games and series, baby.

We have tomorrow off and then two more days between then and end of the season.

  7. xoot's avatar xoot said, on September 8, 2021 at 11:20 am

This 16-game stretch could not have been rougher, with the covid-cruise through NY, the humid games in hotlanta, the test in Milwaukee, and the showdown with the bums, all capped off now in the thin dry air of Denver. What an amazing team.

I think Kazmir pitched well last night or the night before in Sac. I can’t say that pleases me.

  8. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on September 8, 2021 at 11:34 am

The usual no respect for the Giants as USA Today ranks Dogpile first and Giants second, even though the Giants took the season series and owns the tiebreaker and the home field game if they tie for the division! Also they took Buehler behind the woodshed after his start here which should build even more confidence.

  9. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 8, 2021 at 12:06 pm

Reports on KNBR Wood has gotten over the worst of the Covid and is heading towards recovery. Maybe he can pitch in a week, more or less. He’s anxious to get back pitch to meet $ incentives. Cueto is shelved until around the 18th, not any throwing at all. Sounds to me like he’s done for the season and playoffs, and likely, forever as a Giant. Nobody saying if Wood was vaccinated, but the intimation was that he has a bad case of it, which means likely he was not vaccinated. I hope he was, and this was a breakthrough bad case.
But, like I said, IF he had no legit reason to not vaxx and he just elected to go no-Vaxx for some free-dumb reason, fuck him. Way to go to support your team and teammates, Wood. Your selfishness put an unnecessary extra burden on the team, which could cost the division. Sounds like you might lose a $million or so in incentives because of your idiocy, and that’s just fine…

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on September 8, 2021 at 12:44 pm

I’ve seen reports that Wood asked the team not to disclose his vax status. Ambiguous message, there, but . . . .

I glanced at his twitter account and saw no covid items — mainly colorful sports tweets that often feature the word “DAWG!”; and predictably trite, patriotic tweets for July 4 and Memorial Day, but nothing else overtly political. Hard guy to read.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 8, 2021 at 1:07 pm

I suspect if he were vaxxed, he’d release that info.
If he didn’t vaxx up, if I were a vaxxed Giant teammate I’d be livid. His idiocy/hubris has put others health at risk, and put an unnecessary hurdle into the stretch drive…

    • Winder's avatar Winder said, on September 8, 2021 at 4:06 pm

Totally agree about the selfishness. To be a true civilized society there has to be some give and take. For many personalized freedoms are no more than ‘it’s all about me’.

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on September 8, 2021 at 1:01 pm

Anyone not disclosing their vaccination status (re: 200 republican congressmen) didn’t get it. Don’t think i’ve heard of any breakthrough bad cases besides.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 8, 2021 at 1:10 pm

IMO a ton of those congressmen/women ARE vaxxed, but won’t admit it to keep their bona fides with the Trumpidiots base. Like the Fox propaganda artists who won’t give their status, as they spew lies about vaccinations…

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on September 8, 2021 at 4:06 pm

The internal memo is out that Fox sent to its employees that they get vaccinated or they don’t come in,

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on September 8, 2021 at 1:18 pm

friend of a friend of mine runs a hospital in Michigan. He had to lay off 5 doctors and 40-some nurses recently because they refused to get vaxxed.

The group psychology involved in the nationwide battle is fascinating. Meanwhile, the majority of the people in the world don’t even have a choice yet. Those variants are going to keep on mutating.

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 8, 2021 at 1:37 pm

IMO any MDs and nurses who refuse vaxx should be immediately fired.
Like at the huge Houston med center about 2 months ago where nurses brought a lawsuit against the center for requiring them to vaxx up. They lost, and were terminated.
If I have to go into the ER for treatment, it is inconceivable to me that a hospital would foist on me an unvaccinated medical professional, without my knowledge or consent in a vulnerable situation where I have maybe no choice as to who is treating me…

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on September 8, 2021 at 1:44 pm

I think that’s a reasonable POV. Meanwhile, another nationwide problem is a dearth of medical professionals to fill the current need, at least according to a report I heard on the radio this morning on the way back from my gym (where vax and mask are mandatory, doors are open, and industrial-sized fans roar).

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 8, 2021 at 1:58 pm

Back row, left to right: Unca, zumiee, Flavor, SanDawg, James
Front row, left to right: Blade, Pawlie, Snarkk
It was a cool sombrero give-away night.
Pawlie got on as a guest on the Giants’ KNBR radio station before the game, talking about one of his books with Marty Lurie.
My memory is that the Giants lost the game that night, but I could be wrong.
