A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Just Keep Winning

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 30, 2021

Something to remember next time any of you want to disparage The Grave Duggar.

Regarding the Dodger game last night: Hey Roberts, bring it on. It won’t matter. We’re just gonna keep winning. Tingler’s band of pussies could give up 37 home runs tonight. Nothing changes. You’re still gonna come up short.

Bum vs Kazmir. Maybe Chi’s pal Madison will be overcome with emotions and we can jump out in front. Should be epic no matter what.
    All Aboard.

Fuck…fell to sleep last night with dreams of a bum loss, and the fucking cockroaches came back for a win. Pfffttt…

Hoping that Posey and Craw get to play against their buddy Mason Saunders. And I don’t have a problem with him having a quality start as long as the Giants win the game.

I couldn’t care less how we beat bum, light him up or he gets a QS and we roll late. I appreciate everything Bum did for us but he’s straight up the enemy tonight…..

Good point. I sure will not feel sorry for him if we hang some big crooked numbers on him and bury him early.

Chuck & Flav, absolutely. It goes without saying that Bum is an all-time Giant and an all-time favorite of mine, but I hope the Giants light him up. This is war and it feels like the Dodgers will never lose again. The G’s are going to have to forcibly close this thing out.

Duggar has been an important piece this year and he will continue to be moving forward. I’ve been critical of him in the past, we all have, but he’s impressed me with his overall improvement this year.

He makes our team better. That isn’t even debatable

      • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on September 30, 2021 at 8:34 am

Absolutely. Best speed on the team. Plus defender in the OF. And he shows flashes of power.

  9. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 30, 2021 at 8:17 am

Kazmir might be fighting for roster spot in post season. Loo asked about this and I’m unsure too—once playoff round roster (26 or 28?) is set, what happens? No changes allowed that round except to add if you put someone on IL? Belt is currently on IL, McGee is too though he threw 20 pitches in pen session that went well according to Slush.

    • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on September 30, 2021 at 8:34 am

For a player to be eligible for any postseason roster he has to be on the 40 roster or 60 day IL by Aug 31.

Postseason roster rules rom MLB for each round-
Teams submit a 26-man roster (it was 25, prior to 2020) prior to each round of the postseason comprised of postseason-eligible players. A club may request permission from the Commissioner’s Office to replace a player who is injured during the course of a series, but that player is then ineligible for the rest of that round and the subsequent round, if there is one. A pitcher may be replaced only by another pitcher, and a position player only by another position player.

Teams carry extra players throughout the postseason in the event of injuries, and those players, as well as players on the injured list, can be in the dugout during games, within reason.

104 wins and counting? That blows my mind. I seriously can’t wrap my head around this season.
Forget baseball—-this has to be one of the biggest surprise seasons in the history of pro sports.
I’m not sure if I have ever seen anything that compares to it in any sport. Have any of you?

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on September 30, 2021 at 8:45 am

well, i checked in with 74 wins (I think). I can’t think of a team that won 50% more games than I thought they’d win.

  11. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 30, 2021 at 8:33 am

Pads L shows what’s happened to their pitching. They get 5 off Scherzer, add on vs. Graterol, and can’t hold 4 run lead late in game.
More than how well they replace Belt, still think how far Giants go resides in how well they pitch in post season.
Kapler will be in uncharted water there, though he’s done well enough with pitching staff to get them where they are now, SPs pen and mgmt of same.

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on September 30, 2021 at 8:46 am

i’m a little worried about Kap managing in the PS. If he tries to do it *like any regular game* it will likely back fire. Having said that, he knows more than I do about this team so…..

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on September 30, 2021 at 9:03 am

Give all the standing ovations to Bumgarner he deserves and rightfully so but once that first pitch is thrown all fun is over and it’s like any other game and it’s time to beat them..

I don’t see any scenario where Kazmir makes the playoff roster.I believe all teams can carry 13 pitchers max and adding Doval&Castro to postseason which will happen there’s not enough room for him.At this point I don’t even see Shimmy&Shake added to the 1stRd, after the Giants win the division!

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on September 30, 2021 at 9:28 am

I’ll tell you, I’m WAY off the Rogers train. I don’t want to see him do anything meaningful in these playoffs.

My biggest fear is Kapler’s apparent love for him. NO high-leverage spots for Rogers. He’s strictly mop-up duty.

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 30, 2021 at 10:24 am

        100% agree.
The guy has had too many appearances. His novelty doesn’t fool if the stuff is lackluster.
For late imnings leverage guy, he allows Way Way too much traffic every outing, too many handles required by the infield where some shit can go wrong, especially now that Belt is out. Rarely are there pop outs or can o’ corn flies; if the batter elevates, it’s likely to be a rope…

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on September 30, 2021 at 9:26 am

Tingler is an idiot. Pagan gives up 2 home runs and a ball to the fence for out 1. No mound visit, no catcher visit. No pitching change. Dude gives up ANOTHER home run. Change pitchers? Naaah. Then gives up a double! Hmmm. Might be time for a mound visit. Or, gee, take Pagan out. Of course the next guy gives up yet another bomb and the 5 run rally is complete. The ghost of Tommy Lasagna was seen dumping cash into the Padres clubhouse.

Jesus fucking Christ. If I’m a Padres fan I’m heading to the park with a pitchfork and a torch. That team is a fucking trainwreck crashing into a dumpster fire.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 30, 2021 at 10:32 am

Not sure if Pads fans are that rabid down there. Do most of them really care that much?
If Kap had done that, then yeah, there would be a pretty strong fan reaction up here.
Maybe Tingler knows he’s done anyway, and didn’t really care.
To me, that thing where the Pads shifted and left 3rd base abandoned so that Turner on 2nd just waltzed over to third — that’s F’ed up and is more telling that there’s nobody in Pads field management paying attention …

I guess given background of Zaidi and Kap it’s not surprising Giants do lot of things like LA, but at some point Kap will have chance to outmaneuver Roberts and take them down. Or at least not make a screw up that costs SF a game like Roberts has done with Dogs in playoffs past.

They did have 2 absolute stud SPs in Seaver and Koosman.
Also great D up the middle.
They got career years out of Jones and Agee and picked up Clendenon at the TD.

Two ABs for Ruf and he already looks like their best hitter post-Belt. Now if only someone else would join him.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 30, 2021 at 8:12 pm

That would be cool, but it would take a pretty quick turnaround for the fulfillment, and a sponsor to sign up.
Baer would never spring for the Giants to self-pay for that…

as if things couldn’t get worse, the red rhino is not only back in the stands but he’s being touted by kruk. that is not championship baseball.

Cueto’s willingness to return and take his chance in relief, pitching as fiercely as ever, does offer some hope.
