SF 4th in ERA, 6th in OPS. If that’s still true by the end of the year, and Baltimore doesn’t improve its own underlying stats, they won’t be better than us.
The Orioles’ closer is a giant.
In the ninth inning last night, the Giants had to face a giant.
It looked like Shaq was on the mound.
1/3 of season over and I still don’t have no clue where 2023 campaign will end. Giants only consistent pattern all year has been inconsistency. Good week, bad week. 14 runs one game, shut out the next. Schmitt & Bailey good stories so far. Haniger & Conforto appear to be regaining form. But Bart, Craw & Villar disappointing. Webb’s pitched well and deserves better record and Doval has established himself as legit closer despite high stress innings. But DeScalfani & Cobb have fallen off and Stripling never got started. Perhaps too harsh but give 60 game grade of C+.
1. LaMonte Wade Jr. (L) 1B
2. J.D. Davis (R) 3B
3. Mike Yastrzemski (L) CF
4. Wilmer Flores (R) DH
5. Blake Sabol (L) LF
6. Mitch Haniger (R) RF
7. Patrick Bailey (S) C
8. Casey Schmitt (R) 2B
9. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
P: Alex Cobb (R)
Mr. Ed needs to pick it up…
Again the old style L/R alts AND a recognizable group. Put Conforto back in LF and we’re semi stable. Ok. Now last year ….
Or RF. Sorry.
The Orioles I kind of grew up as a young kid.One of my parents best friends among many on the block for the usual cocktail 🍸 parties Friday are Saturday nights after the work week( just don’t see that much anymore, at rotating homes with different cocktail themes and goofy decorations like pink elephants, flamingos, and of course goofy hats)the one neighbors were originally from Baltimore and huge Orioles fan, they were always watching Boog Powell,Frank Robinson,Brooks Robinson,Paul Blair,Belanger, and that incredible pitching staff, I got hooked on them too they were way better then the Giants in those days.
They had 3 sons and I was always raising havoc with on the block, constantly finding new ways to get in trouble with them.
The Father also reluctantly for me ( guessing revenge)did haircuts in their garage for his kids, myself and others cause the parents were cheap asses and wouldn’t spring to pay for a barber 💈
He only had one cut the “Awful Marine Crew Cut” straight from back to front making you look like Roger Maris! Then he would say looks good huh? I had to say yes,(I mean he was a parent )but I was burning up inside and wanted to cry just not in front of him..
I’ve always been quite skeptical of the WAR measurement and i just read that Javier Baez, who is having one of the worst seasons a SS can have, still has a + WAR number (0.5). That is outrageous
Skeptical of WAR? Get off it. WAR is like an old fashioned road map. Cities and towns get repped in significance the way players get repped in WAR. Urban areas big dots medium dots pin dots. Very accurate, for its very limited worth.
Test..my posts aren’t going thru??🥺
sorry, it went to spam, not sure why.
No worries 😉 the post now went thru u are the Man Flavor Maximus!
twitter guy Bobby notes “surprising amount of denard span.”
Yeah 5 of them same as Yaz.
Was watching racing and Andie B. (in sling left arm due to horse accident) had winner and place in 5th (couple 9/2 shots), beating odds on favorite at Santa Anita.
Bochy’s Boys put 16 spot on M’s today. Marcus Semien 4-6 HR 2 doubles. 28 extra base hits already.
Yanks stake G Cole to 4-1 lead at Latrine after 4.
Mets lost, game up on SF for WC.
Honest, really surprised at some NL teams who spent lot of money and did well last year that are barely ahead of or have worse record than Giants.
#99 goes yard, 5-1 Yanks.
Happy to see Semien do well. Bochy too.
Bochy was 10 under .500 lifetime starting today. He’s moving up in the top ten wins all time. He may finish this season with some very impressive numbers.
That team lost 94 games last year. Fans gotta feel they are in much better place now with him in charge and off season moves.
Lots of Yankee fans cheering for the Yanks in Dodger Stadium.
Dogpile lose always a good thing!
Bauer 2 bombs! Judge 1 and a great catch in RF that jarred the BP gate open!
Great work by reliever King who got at a second and 3rd no outs up 5-3 and got of it with no one scoring!
hmmnn steady diet of breaking balls to the kids. Got Haniger out on one too.
Loo’s 2:52!
Wilmer getting it done.
Good for Wilmet taking pitch away right back up middle.
No horsing around with Mr.Ed!
A 2 run single for 2Ribs and a double in the 1st I thought should of scored Wade when the ball hung up at the bottom of the wall but they held him..
I love it that Late Night is proving me wrong, both with the glove and at bats.
Agree. I remember in 2021 calling him my favorite new Giant at the time… probably wasn’t fair based on an injury-riddled 2022 to give up on him, plus I was mad into the team needing a *real* firstbaseman…. But he has claimed his place, great to see it.
True that, Paul.
Would of been exciting if my boy Jaylin Davis who came along with Wade at the same time had the same ability Wade turned into..Oh well 1 out of 2 players I’ll take it.Wade has shown everyone when he’s healthy like this he great he has become offensive/defense has been outstanding..
Hell of a job by Cobb tonight. Good win, Giants.
Cobb wasn’t great. His 95 mph back door sinker didn’t always break back enough to clip the zone. But he was damn good.
O yeah, shutout victory! Great job by Cobb!
O’s SP really threw lot of off speed to everyone, not just rooks. Couple innings per cbs game tracker he threw only 1 fastball out of 15+ pitches.
Still, rooks have to recognize the hittable ones (hangers) in the zone and stop taking those for strikes (like Bailey) and how to lay off the unhittable ones as James noted earlier.
And Doval had some unhittable 90 mph sliders of his own in 9th as he closed it out.
Camilo Doval named Reliever on the Month for May! Second time he has won the award..
Doval was 11-11 in Save opportunities,In 13.2 innings he gave up 7 hits walked 4,,with 28K’s..
He is clearly establishing himself as “Top Gun”among relievers in the game
Take this series and it’s a decent feather in their cap.
