Taming The Dirty Snakes
11/12. #nottooshabby.
It’s undeniable how much grit this team has. They constantly come back when they’re down. Patty Bails has just been a revelation. And today, even going with yet another stupid opener I’m not even bummed cause I like this new kid Winn who is going to get the bulk of the innings.
This season has been a lot of fun so far.
Only caught last 2 innings but that was hella play by Craw to end it.
4 HRs for Bailey, very impressive player.
One of major knocks on Z had been Giants lack of development in minors. Uh, “not anymore.”
I don’t think I have commented before about how impressive Patrick Bailey is. He has taken over IMO as our #1 catcher of the future.
And did not get on yesterday to say FUCK CHRIS PAUL…
“Opener” today and shaky DeSclafani tomorrow. Split next two games and head east after 5-2 home stand. Agree this team shows constant grit and resilience. Season to date unexpected positive run.
An NL West doubleheader today. The Giants/D-Backs day game, and then right after that, the Dodgers/Astros are the Fox game of the week.
And Cubs Cards in London
Right, an early game before the Giants game. Also a Fox game of the week.
On the MLB Network they were showing how bouncy the artificial turf is in the London Stadium. Could make for some quirky plays.
The Astros USED to be in the NL West, of course.
Is most of the Chris Paul negativity because of his LA Clippers years? Those Clippers were constant ref-baiters. A very annoying team in those days.
Read this and you will understand . . . https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2062714-the-double-edged-sword-of-chris-pauls-leadership
“L.A. leads the league in flops, complaints and, probably, frustrated opponents. Its reputation is etched in stone now, and Paul’s holding the chisel.”
Yeah, it’s how I remembered it.
I never got used to Richard Sherman as a 49er. That was hard to accept.
Willie’s 7:22am point about Z, needs to be underlined. Those who have doubted Z, need to give credit where credit is due. Mostly, I have heard crickets in regard to his role. Not right.
It’s a world of frontrunners.
Including us I guess.
But at least here nobody changes teams…
True Loo.
The additions of Conforto and Haniger look pretty smart right now, tho unlucky re Haniger. The off-season moves to build a pitching staff looked weak and have proved to be so. But the pen …. and the other kids in the minors Z drafted …. Doval surprisingly was signed way back in 2015.
Think I read Giants are 8-3 in opener games. I mean, if it ain’t broke…
As Dean said, next up Sunday in rotation is “shaky DeSclafani” and the even shakier Wood holds another spot. Wood and DeSclafani are $12 mil a year guys. Why bother? More openers and fill in guys you can find and develop behind them the better.
I can totally see more teams going this route given how hard it is to keep pitchers healthy.
What a difference a month makes. The Giants are playing a whole different game than month ago. The young infusion of spirit(attitude) and talent has brought out the best in all the rest.
6/22 wasn’t good day for farm teams. that was Harrison game Sac lost 11-5, and Richmond AA team lost 11-3, Eugene High A lost 13-2, so young pitching everywhere got lit up.
For Eugene, 21 yr old OF Victor Bericoto hit 14th bomb to lead all Giants minor leaguers. Batting over .300 with .900 OPS.
But as “Flying squirrel” on MCC site noted, “…around this time last year, Bailey Matos Schmitt were toiling in Eugene, Beck was getting lit up in Sacramento and Keaton Winn was…buried in San Jose.” Matos (and Luciano) was hurt and not doing well either. 6 productive players at ML level now, small sample size notwithstanding.
Wow. Just turned on the Cub game and on the ground ball DP the lead runner and Bellinger were barely jogging.
I don’t think they can use the altitude as an excuse.
For a guy that was supposedly struggling to hit LH pitching Bailey has 3 of his 4 HR’s off of them and has 22RBI’s in 27 games and hitting.330 way more than the Giants could of expected.Handles the pitching staff like a 10 year vet and calling most of the pitchers pitches, he’s the real deal imo.
Anybody catch the bitchin T-Shirt JD Davis had on his postgame interview?
Black T-Shirt orange lettering that said :”Dingers&Deadlifts”man I want one of those, sure Kapler appreciates that one as well as fanatical he is working out..
Z’s free agent signings have been hit or miss to say it nicely. He’s definitely been saved by the youth that has come up. If anything he deserves credit for giving them the chance to play and because they’re performing he gets credit for drafting them, too.
Kinda glad that Wagner guy got turned around. He seemed, like, totally crazy.
He’s not gone. I forgot that he got indicted in the USA after mueller’s investigation revealed the extent of his interference in the 2016 election. We’ll probably see the impact of his IT people again next year.
You know that if trump got re-elected he would abandon Ukraine. The war wasn’t an issue in the 2020 election.
Trump is so far up Putin’s ass he would do anything as long as it makes him some money.
I’m sure today’s London game has the older Brits heavily debating the Brock/Broglio trade…
1. LaMonte Wade Jr. (L) 1B
2. Thairo Estrada (R) 2B
3. Joc Pederson (L) DH
4. J.D. Davis (R) 3B
5. Michael Conforto (L) RF
6. Blake Sabol (L) LF
7. Patrick Bailey (S) C
8. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
9. Luis Matos (R) CF
P: Ryan Walker (R)
Feels like Casey is suddenly the forgotten man.
I feel like he’s the guy that turned the season around…
Could be dinged up but I haven’t heard a word about it. He flailed in a few of his most recent ABs. Bet he becomes a solid part of the rest of the season.
4 Giants pitchers on current roster were good lower level FAs signed by Z.
Also DeSclafani and Wood, both signed and then re-signed fwiw, like Gausman was.
Cobb for $9 mil in offseason 2021.
Taylor Rogers this past offseason, 3 yrs/$33 mil.
Brebbia Aisle back in 2020. Only made $3 mil since Giants first added him.
L Jackson this January $9.5 mil
Not a bad article.

Z has shown a knack for drafting good catchers over the years. Bailey with the Giants, and Will Smith and Kelbert Ruiz with the Dodgers. Ruiz was the key piece in their trade with the Nats for Trea Turner and Scherzer.
I’m generally very onboard with the Giants’ giveaway items, but today’s giveaway, the foodie shirt, isn’t doing it for me.
Ooops!
Conforto uses whole field, really good look.
Judge has torn ligament in toe from running into pen in LA. Out since June 3 with no timetable for return. Yanks 6-10 without him. not his fault but what a mess contract already is.
Giants have Conforto and Haniger for $64 million this year and next, yanks have judge for $80 million.
We love Matos, but we do want to see some power-hitting eventually.
If keeps hitting singles I am ok with that
I keep thinking Matty Alou for some reason.
I am far more upset about the ump’s incompetence than the pickoff.
dang. Used to call that curse of the pitching coach visit. Marte is hot right now, very cool player.
That motherfucking pig behind the plate ….
Fuck NY I’m sick and tired of All challenge calls have to come from there!
Baseball needs video challenges on the West Coast as well..
Man this umpire is horseshit as bad as the replay challenge buttholes in NY!!
they come back. Every game they’re down they come back.
There’s a Matos bomb!
There’s your power Zumie a Matos crushed HR!!
Nothing wrong with Matos that just AB’s won’t cure as he adjusts to big league pitching, kid can do it all, couple of mistakes getting picked off and his bad decision not hitting the cutoff man, but all young dudes go thru it, he will learn..
You can’t make this up, write this script . . . Damn!
That’s for sure Blade..”Young Giants Matter” they are sparking this team along with extra enthusiasm & the veterans are digging them it’s a fun and exciting team with great energy.Really the Dbacks are similar as the NL West is starting to shift with these 2 teams..
Matos showing the power!

The piece of shit still having an impact on the game.
Big impact. Doval struck that guy out twice.
Fucking wow.
Whew! Close.
Yeah Doval keeps you on your seat at times.
James not feelin’ this ump lol
Damm that was scary but in the end Doval comes thru!
Game winning hit Luís Matos way to come thru with the clutch Bomb!!
Keep it going tomorrow and get this SWEEP 🧹 what do you say Clint&Midget door closer?
Sorry Kat, me and my dummy had a busy day…

Victory! Series win! And another great play by Craw in the 9th!
Sweet win to overcome all that adversity. Unbelievably horrible job by the ump. Where do you get those scorecards on umps? 5 runs can be directly attributed to the bad calls at the plate, and the terrible replay at 2nd.
This team is craay with the comebacks. Another sweeper would be sweeter.
That would be the 3rd sweep in a month (Bums, Cards) and just missing on the Pads.
. . . and 4 sweeps out of the last 6 series (Rockies). Mind boggling.
Only the Cubs and Pads escaping our wrath. lol
Bregman with the granny!!Houston up 5-3!
GO GIANTS!! This team is so fun to root for right now!!
Crazy Dodger game. Dodgers score the lead run on a balk. 8-7 dogs. 3 runs on one hot. Dusty and Stanek ejected.
Astros relief pitchers melted down in the 8th inning.
3 walks and a balk. Total choke.
Crazy Dodger game??? Nothing compared to Angels and Rockies, 25-1, bottom of the 8th, Angels leading (28 hits).
It ain’t over till it’s over…
An old baseball cliche you don’t hear anymore is the importance of being strong up the middle. Well maybe we are now…
