Gausman right out the gate. This is going to be a tough hill to climb.
But all this team does is surprise me.
Belt having a very pedestrian year, only played in 51 of 79 games, 15 mill a year for that.

Anyone see Belt’s qoute about the DH voting for the ASG? Funny stuff. Go Giants.
Best part is half the people out there think he’s serious.
Iβm sure it pained the MLB Power rankings to do this but the Giants made a massive jump to #6 in the rankings and jumped past the Dogpile at 7..
About time they cracked the top 10 and are getting noticed as a club playing great baseball.
AK, even more respect at CBS (#5) . . . https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-power-rankings-braves-knock-rays-out-of-no-1-spot-giants-move-into-top-five/
Even better Blade thanks!
See where they jumped the D-backs for that 5th spot even though there still in first.Going to be one wild ride to the finish line in the NL West!
AK, I see where we have more youngsters possibly coming up to the big club in case we need “cavalry”assistance. A guy I like and have been following for some time (where apparently Kap is keen on too) is Tyler Fitzgerald, a SS, but as Kap has pointed out, can play the outfield too.

ah thanks, good stuff Blade. Like Fitzgerald too, having good season btw Richmond and Sac, with some power.
Yeah I would love to see Fitzgerald up here over Diaz.Heβs very versatile can play infield are outfield and that throw to the plate on the fly a perfect throw with a gun for an arm was quite impressive.Giants need to add him to the 40 man roster and get rid of some dead weight there.
As long as they can hit big league pitching I would love to see some more kids come up. Someone said it here yesterday about sending Schmitt back to Sac. to get more AB’s I think that is probably a good idea.
Someone yesterday alluded to the Mets and Padres under performance this season. Particularly galling considering all the money they have spent this season. New York Mets owner Steven Cohen tweeted on Tuesday that he intends to hold a press conference prior to the club’s night game on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Cohen declared that fans will “get it from me straight.” It’s unclear if Cohen intends to announce any personnel changes, or if he’ll simply face the press.
Me? I like and appreciate owners that spend a lot of money. So, I can’t fault an owner like Cohen. I don’t know enough about the Mets or Padres regarding why they have underperformed this year, except to say – ultimately, it’s on the players that hit, pitch, run, and catch the ball.
That being said, I admire teams like our Giants that are judicious with the money they’re given by ownership and put a competitive team on the field. Moreover, I like the fact that our GM, manager, and coaches are squeezing every dollar of performance out of our team. Equally important, it seems that the players are all in on the plan that management has for them.
Postscript: For a fan like me – it’s satisfying when we win and know that we didn’t “BUY” our performance, but earned it.
I think having both is best. AKA Dodgers. I always liked Guasman, and was disappointed we didn’t keep him.
Agreed on both. Because Dodgers drafted guys like Urias and Buehler and didn’t have to pay them much, they could afford to go big and spend on quality players like Betts and Freeman.
And yes would have liked to have held onto Gausman.
Texas has spent close to a billion these last couple seasons. Was their most important piece Bochy? I thought Melvin would make a big diff in SD but it hasn’t come to pass.
The whole synergy thing of young guys, vets, and big-name signings is a challenge but when you need a bunch of guys like we do, it isn;t so prudent to blow the load on a Correa type. I guess. I mean look at Conforto. He’s doing better for much less $$$. Plus we wouldn’t have likely seen Schmitt this early or had Davis in there as much.
Haniger is kinda the same but he’s of the Belt school of not being able to stay on the field consistently.
Per Pavs, Wilmet back with Diaz to Sac.
Lot of Belt stuff, but this one cracked me up.
“He’s looking forward to facing Webb. Isn’t as hyped about facing Doval. Belt: ‘I like for the fastballs to be under 95. ‘”
good good good. Wilbur is the celery that stirs the bloody mary.
Jays have 60 SBs, only 20th time they’ve been caught.
Bailey ends that threat.
Post game quip from Belt: βItβs clear Iβm the free agent they should have resigned.β
He’s not Willie Matos and so far at the plate he’s not Chili Matos but he’s good and I just get the sense that he’s constantly learning and improving. He worked Gausman to 3-2 before flying out deep. One of the better ABs so far. I like seeing him in the LU everyday.
Gausman doesnβt wear his cool glove he used in SF, not impressed with baby blue one matchup the uni are not..
Giants might be checking in at the Flap when I said dump 0 for Diaz, now think Fitzgerald for added RH power and can play infield/Outfield and demote Bryce Johnson..
Battle of attrition with Gausman. Joc with two useful Ks.
The brief use of AAA hot bat Diaz probably presages more use. At least they don’t have the Sacramento shuttle bus warming up outside the park everyday, like last year.
I was just gonna say, Gasman doesn’t really come set with all his rocking off his foot.
Bailey!!!
It’s hard to tell watching on the phone, was that a legit strike 3 call on Matos?
Yes. It was a perfect pitch.
Ok, thanks.
Yes, great split.
That final (tenth?) pitch of the AB to Matos, breaking ball at the knees just moving over the outside corner, is probably the best pitch Gausman has thrown all night. Ah well. Kid fought him.
Hey got the lead so there is allitle chink in the armor of Gausman.
Could be 2-0 if Merrifield didnβt make an outstanding catch on Crawdaddyβs blast..
Nice work by Walker &Wood! 10Kβs damm impressive..
Good luck using “chink in the armor” these days, Kat.
Too easily misunderstood if you’re under a certain age…
Do not understand throwing strikes to Bichette at 0-2.
He missed the target by 8″. Supposed to be up and in and was piped.
Especially when strike 1 wasn’t a strike!
Gasman with the usual boatload of pitches to get through 6.
Hard play?? Cmon Fleming ,Can of corn , this is the big leagues,Conforto butchered that catch..
Yeah, that popped out. Shoulda been caught.
Rogers got out of it.
Gimmick dude. He may yet match Romo in longevity and under appreciated effectiveness.
Nice pitching by Tyler to bail out Conforto! The pitching has been light outs..
Yeah, Tyler got through it after falling behind all 3 batters.
Craw the only one without a K.
Come on, man. That’s 2 doubles for Conforto.
Clankin’ Conforto in Toronto.
Yaz, where are yaβ¦.
Taylor for Belt. Didnβt get a chance to post that before another Conforto misplay.
Conforto needs the Giants glove near the Coke bottle at home..Thatβs 2 catchable balls heβs butcheredβ¦
Yeah Thairo!
Boom! Score first drove in insurance runs.
Thiaroed!
Estrada insurance.
Estrada should be an A/S heβs been money along with Wade..
whoosh! Man Doval had slider working perfectly alongside 99/100 heat. Unhittable.
Shutout in Toronto!
Good Wood tonight, well-deserved W.
That’s a freakin’ outstanding team they just beat. Shut them out too. Amazing.
Wow. Nice game.
DOVAL Slams the door πͺ What a pitching job by all the pitchers tonight!
VICTORY!!! 10 straight road wins!! Incredible work!!
Giant pitching ICYMI:
17Ks – No BBs
didn’t see this
Wow, that’s outstanding.
That was a fun game.
Yes.
17 SOs, no BBs. Javie sounded in awe as he highlighted those stats. The Giants version of the opener game works. So far.
1968 WS Game 1:
Bob Gibson
17/Ks – 1BB
Wow. Very nice. But were some of those κs?
13 swinging/4 looking
Rays not being much help against NL West so far. Should have considered an opener.
Rays beat everyone except NL west! Grr. Go Giants!!
