Blake’s Mistakes
I’m still ok with his steal try yesterday. I guess he could have waited till there was 1 out but he needed to get into scoring position. And it really was a great pitch to steal on it’s just the worst luck in the world that a shitty throw tails right into his slide zone.
Whatever, it was a mistake because it didn’t work out but it wasn’t even in the ballpark of the stupid thing he did running the Giants out of the game the other day.
Blake is still my boy, I’m ridin’ with him.
It was an odd decision to say the least…a bunt could have gotten him over as well. Oh well. We had just one bad inning of pitching this whole series from Webb and one bad pitch from Winn to Vlad Jr so was easily could have been two wins and overall they played pretty well…two of three in NY very doable…
Alan Arkin passed away. He had a great film career, which included, of course, this great film:

That makes me laugh just thinking about it.
“- Vince Ricardo: I was in the jungle – the bush we called it – for approximately nine months…
– Sheldon Kornpett: Nine months! That must have really been something!
– Vince Ricardo: It was. I saw things… They have tsetse flies down there the size of eagles.”
Greatest comedy ever IMO.
I got dragged to a Rocky movie (can’t stand ’em) and the In-Laws was part of the double feature that made it very worthwhile…
He was great in Little Miss Sunshine.
I had forgotten he won an Oscar for that performance.
Pretty sure tough loses like those in Toronto will just strengthen this team.
We need to take it out on the Mets. They are in a major tailspin.
Freebie and the bean . . . Loved it! Caan and him had such great chemistry. RIP Alan!
Another fave. Watched that again last year. SF in the early 70s is always fun to see.
I always hate when an opponent team takes the lead in the bottom of the 8th especially when there at home knowing u have one crack left to tie it are take a lead.My boy Bailey missed that HR by a foot, he crushed it I thought it was gone.Roof closed are not I’m blaming it on the wildfires..Down 2 I’m all for being aggressive in your last inning if Sabol made it u can always bunt him to 3rd for the first out to setup a Sac Fly and Toronto would of played the infield in as well opening up a better opportunity as well to get the run in..
Alan Arkin a great actor, and yes he was fantastic in Little Miss Sunshine as Chuck mentioned..RIP Big AL
That was a tough loss for Winn, the kid pitched a heck of a game.
“…tough loss for Winn”, how often was that line used this AM?
His stuff is not a little like Gausman’s. The idea of the “mistake” pitch gets tossed around way too frequently, but, man, the one to VG was certainly one of them.
I thought he just looked tired. If so, it’s on Kap. Oh, wait.
There’s a whole universe of locations other than where that pitch crossed the plate. A fastball down the middle after the previous splitter had a better chance of survival.
Well that does sound like a physical fatigue induced mistake.
Very long but entertaining way to say JD Davis is playing in NY this weekend:
Xoot, thank you for sharing. Everyone here should read. The Giants, Rays and Dodgers are doing the “little things right.” Essentially, what this column points out, that’s what separates the chaff (Mets) from the wheat (Giants, et. al.).
Any group that spends the morning laughing over a comedy about the CIA’s bloody 1954 coup in Guatemala should appreciate a radical historicist’s look at the Mets and Giants.
Glad to hear you’re doing so well as a single parent. That was one of the most rewarding challenges Ive ever taken on.
“Challenge” . . . Exactly and admittedly, I fail a lot.
I’m sure you know what’s most important.
Blade I saw the pic of the surprise bday party you put together for your daughter at the Boys and Girls Club. It’s great to see how you’ve embraced this parenting thing. You seem like you’re doing a great job
Thank you Flav. You don’t know how much this means. Michele is my “lifeline” right now. No idea how much I miss my mom. She was a “force of nature” in my life. I find myself, particularly when I am tired (waking up or going to bed), thinking I need to call mom . . . then I realize she’s not here anymore. Hard to explain.
Any idea if Conforto can play? Nice convo with him and Baggs in Athletic, as he’s looking forward to coming back to Shea.
Shea is now the parking lot🤣🤣🤣…
Ha, should have just said back to town. Seemed like he enjoyed time there and gave credit to David Wright. Air OK for tonight and tomorrow?
Seems fine – just hazy
Well for now Conforto Is in the expected LU batting 5th and playing RF…
Though I’ve seen Kapler likes to not commit to his LU till last second so who knows?
As of now it’s..
Wade 1B
Estrada 2B
Pederson DH
Davis 3B
Conforto RF
Bailey C
Sabol LF
Crawford SS
Matos CF
Cobb P
Actually it’s Sabol batting 6th and Bailey batting 7th, but I like my LU better with Bailey on fire 🔥 he should be moving up in the LU imo..
The ad for vibrators up top is very tempting…
In The In-Laws, the CIA is the butt of the joke.
Hogan’s Heroes made the Nazis the butt of the joke. Charlie Chaplin did it, too.
There’s a long tradition in the arts of using humor to deflate those that need deflating.
Blazing Saddles couldn’t get made today, but it’s an incredible take-down of racism toward Black people.
Count Basie and his band stole the show.
“Blazing Saddles couldn’t get made today”
By whom? Meanwhile, I’m a Virgo can get made.
Gee thanks. I sort of liked the movie. Arkin and Falk had a blast together.
A watered down version of Blazing Saddles could get made nowadays, maybe.
I only learned in the last year that Richard Pryor was one of the screenwriters on that film. I didn’t know that.
Zumie for sure Black Lives Matter sure didn’t matter at all in Blazing Saddles, still a classic film though..
Another Mel Brooks film slamming black people was Spaceballs!
I busted up when they had the seen,We need to rake the desert using the black comb 🪮 to rake with. That comb 🪮 with the long metal prongs I remember well from HS thinking that could be used as a weapon, most of the white girls we’re intimated to go to the bathroom at times..
Blazing Saddles was anti-racism. The Black sheriff is the hero.
The White racist townspeople are the butt of the joke.
Favorite line: “Maaaaaan, you wouldn’t know the dialectical method if it slapped you up both sidesa your head.”
Steve Young is getting let go by ESPN because of budget cuts. Bummer.
I dunno if Steve can survive that financially…
Lots of well known personalities axed at ESPN. My favorite is Max Kellerman, who does boxing primarily. Also, he really dislikes Trump (which I am down with!!!). He’ll bounce back at Fox or another network, he was Fox’s top rated boxing announcer back in the early 2000s.
Good sign Matos shakes off the Toronto 0-10 blues with knock.
slash line they flashed: .204/.291/.286.
Alan Arkin was very funny in the Kaminsky Method on Netlfix. Initial run ended 2021, I think.
Along with Michael Douglas. Sounds like a weird duo, but it worked. 1/2 hour show.
Douglas plays a faded actor and now head of his own acting school in LA.
AA plays Douglas’ agent and best friend.
It is still on there. 3 seasons. I think AA left after season 2 (plot was he died, in real life I believe he became ill ).
But, seriously, first season, some episodes I just friggin’ LMAO constantly.
If you like AA and some old(er) guy humor among other things, definitely check it out if you want a good laugh.
Last two seasons, not as good, but OK…
Crawwwww! Nice hitting.
ESPN again . . . ESPN announced last month it hired former NFL punter Pat McAfee, host of “The Pat McAfee Show.” The New York Post reported ESPN is paying McAfee around $85 million over five years. He wasn’t laid off.
I don’t get it, they are paying $85 million to a former punter, but they get rid of all these other personalities. Hey, I understand if you don’t like/know Max Kellerman or think big deal, Steve Young will survive being a partner at HGGC, a Palo Alto, California-based private equity firm. But what about Jeff Van Gundy, who is considered the best, or at least one of the best NBA commentators today? I follow quite a few equities and Disney sucks wind, where it’s near their 52 week low of $84.07 a share . . . Not a bit surprise it’s this low with decisions like this.
McAfee’s a joke.
Man that was a great throw by Matos, the runner was dead meat if Bailey catches it.Then to get an error cause the runner at 2nd made it to 3rd was a harsh E-8 but accurate call..
The K’s are racking up by the dozen these last few games. And it ain’t just the rookies.
Fuck. Story of this road trip.
Yeah Blade ESPN has really gone downhill..
Suzy Kölber axed after 27 years seriously?
Yet they keep a Booger pretty snotty if u ask me..
Kellerman&Van Gundy WTF!
And if they keep Sherman around I’m going to puke 🤮
I was praying Stephen A. Smith was on the layoff list. Nope.
At least Skip Bayliss is nowhere to be seen. I do enjoy fucking with him on Twatter.
Booger’s terrible as well. Got no problem with Sherman. He’s a player who knows his shit.
McAfee? All about pissing people off these days I guess. Or yelling in your face a la Steven A.
I haven’t had ESPN for 3 years now so I don’t really know what I’m missing.
When did Bartolo Colon make his comeback with the Mets?
Carrasco is a bum and yet here we are 6K’s already and of course a season high for him against and it’s against the Giants of course ..
in 4 fucking innings no less.
What the actual fuck.
Wulmet!
Wil, haha
Finally!!!!!!! Wilmet!!!
Mr Ed loves to take it to NY !!
Nice blast to tie it up against this bum..
So much for JDs return to New Yawk.
Oh Matos! Keep him in the LU.
Jeez, Giants trying to out-Met the Mets.
Ump threw his hands up before the runner got to third base. The play was dead at that point.
The ball was dead. The play still had to be allotted.
Fuck NY replays they SUCK bigtime!
How can that not be a dead ball double and the runner goes back to 3rd!!! Utter BS!!!
It’s not fucking rocket science. “In every case of spectator interference with a batted or thrown ball, the ball shall be declared dead and the baserunners can be placed where the umpire determines they would have been without the interference.”
Now why the first verb is mandatory (shall) and the second indeterminate (can) raises some numinous questions.
Another shitty pitcher with 10 Ks on us.
What’s out crappy wave index, or whatever that thing is Flavor used to talk about.
We ain;t coming back this time.
We ain;t coming back this time.
The rooKie blues.
This is disturbing, Mets bullpen is absolute garbage and Giants meekly going dowm.
Giants have hit a rough patch.
and there you go
Bailey bomb!
Z has to be working on a Joey B trade. (Joey’s doing okay at Sac)
Productivity just hit a major surge!!!
Downtown Bailey for the lead!!
CRUSHED and now an 11 game hitting streak!!
The amazing rookie!
But the Giants don’t quit.
Bailey to the rescue! Rookie redemption !
Pham has been a very hot hitter for awhile now.
Holy crap!
YESSSSS! Bailey putting on a show! Going to Flushing tomorrow on an upnote!
Bring it on home Mac . . .
Meeting up with Loo.
Hell yeah!
Take a lot of photos!
Ha, I’ll try.
Wow. What throw from Paddy B. What a HR. Another fun game,in the end.
PATRICK BAILEY is the MAN!!!
Doval another save no problem when you have Johnny Bench behind the plate!!
Thats the way to stick it to em
I liked that video shot of Candy Maldonado in the stands chatting with Chris Berman about the time Chris met Chuck by the pool at some hotel.
Mets 9 games behind the Gmen for the last Wild Card.
Doval leads the NL in saves says a tweet i just noticed.
Absolutely awesome fuckin night
Fleming on post game said last time Giants homered 8th or later for W in NYC was Game Face Gillaspie game.
That’s insane. I think that might’ve been the last time I was there…
Listened to the game driving up the 101. Jon Miller was so shocked by Bailey’s throw and Marte’s caught stealing that he didn’t quite realize/convey that the game was over on the subsequent swing and miss.
Yeah I was on way to b-ball practice, wasn’t sure what happened either listening to Miller. The pitch was strike 3, and that was it.
Yeah, that was a hell of a finish. Throw ’em out, strike ’em out.
Caught the home run walking into a pub just in time.
108 degrees in the Central Valley today.
Another reason a player would rather be an SF Giant than being stuck on the Sac River Cats.
(Sac does have a really nice AAA ballpark.)
Nice win. bailey Sabol duo is killing it!
