The Reds have an exciting young offense. Hopefully we close out this suspended game today.
Luke smoked me in yesterday’s round then drove back to Portland wearing my favorite shirt.
The indignation was high.
mocking me from his kitchen this morning. It’s a little big on him

did you guys see the video of the reds groundskeeper who got swept UNDERNEATH the tarp as it was going on? It’s on espn I couldn’t figure out how to upload it here from my phone
Yeah, the Giants broadcast had fun with it. Hunter said: “The tarp ate him. They went on without him. Where’s the love?”
knowing that guy ended up ok that was one of the funniest things i’ve seen in a while
Pence sounds really good with Flemming, just contrast to laid back Lopez. I don’t mind Javy, but Pence is fun and gives good insights from hitter’s perspective.

It’s obvious the Giants are trying out announcers for the inevitable leaving of Miller, Kruk and Kuip. Miller takes off quite a bit of the roadies, and K&K basically don’t even do any roadies. I wonder if Kuiper is still having health issues?
Pence and Estes would be ok. Would lack the K and K chemistry tho. Because they were teammates Pence and Lopez should be better but low energy Javvy might not work out.
Teammates on exciting championship teams no less. Different personality types. Hunter rode a scooter to the ballpark. My son and I saw Javvy, after a day game, cruise by on the embarcadero in what looked like a Lambo. He he grinned and acknowledged our shout out.
Pence&Estes would be a good team together,Flemm obviously more polished but he bugs me always trying to anticipate every player’s scenario AB that seldom works out.Javy I would rather watch paint dry he’s boring as hell and drier then a martini..
K&K has given us tremendous years and still up there as one of the best announcers in the biz, but yeah the end is closing in with health and subtle mistakes more than ever.Still they will go down as “Giants Forever” as they leave together and a special day setup for them..
Yeah, I’m 99.99% sure they retire together. maybe one more season after this, but this could be it.
DeSclafani to be activated and start Game 2, right? So who got sent out–Llovera? If so that means only remaining latin am ballplayers are Flores Matos and Doval, plus injured Estrada. Awfully honkified 26 man roster.
Well we have Wade and Sabol and Manea.
Manaea.
didn’t realize Sabol’s mom was from American Samoa, per wiki.
First American Samoan mlb battery ever.
I’ve never heard anything definitive on why Kuiper isn’t doing roadies much anymore? Anybody? I know it’s none of our bidness, and he’s got no reason to say anything, but does anyone else find it a little strange that there was never any real info on the sudden passing of Kuip’s wife? I wonder if that has anything to do with reduction of his announcing schedule?
He had cancer (or chemo anyway) last year. So his health is likely compromised. Travel isn’t good for that.
Here’s a cool thing that popped up after the tarp video.
Shame Timmy prolly doesn’t get in, but his dominance when he was on was by far the best in the league.
Thanks for that chuck. Good times.
Asian friends with some pride used to call Timmy hapa haole.
I miss that little Dude.
What a privilege we had to see him in action for that short period of time…
They have 13 pitchers the maximum allowed so it has to Llovera I assume..
Krukow can’t get on an airplane anymore due to his degenerative muscle disease in his hip.But I read somewhere Kuiper will do 22 road games total I’m guessing mostly short flights on the West coast. It something he didn’t do last year but I’m sure it still bugs him not having his buddy on these road trips only at home games together..
The media has an obligation to tell the whole truth. That’s what it’s supposed to be doing. Not once in all the news about Curry’s golf tournament win did I hear the news media mention it was a celebrity tournament. That’s being misleading, in my opinion. It’s still an impressive accomplishment, there were some really good golfers in the tourney, like Smolz.
But, the media should have made the point that it was a celebrity tourney. The media has no obligation to pump up the accomplishment.
It’s called the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship. It’s in the name.
this one has been going on for long time and features all kinds of famous athletes in it. QBs have often won it including Romo. Big story in SF Chron during the week.
Yeah that was outrageous the way the cameras chased Curry as he celebrated his hole in one.
Looking up Sabol’s minor league history, 2021 and 2022 for Pirates he caught more games than he played in OF in each season, including at AA and AAA. He also caught in HS and in couple seasons for USC. Wonder if Giants will continue to do that or turn him into full time corner OF/DH?
I think that depends on Bart and if they trade him. If he keeps tearing up AAA and he sticks, he can be the backup C and DH. Sabol can stick to the OF and be the emergency backup C. If they trade Bart for an IFer or pitcher, then Sabol gets more work behind the plate.
hmmnn, Melissa Lockard says Luciano being promoted to Sac.
Be nice if that local station broadcast some Sac games for us. I haven’t noticed any in a while.
Yeah haven’t Sac games there either.
Ramos rehab stint ended as of today and MCC site Giants activated him and sent him to Sac. He’s on 40 man as P Cole Waites moved to 60 day IL.
I should have said TV news. This was the the typical way the tourney was reported in every TV news spot I saw:
“Watch Stephen Curry make a walk-off eagle to win the American Century Championship”
No mention in the news stories it was a celebrity tournament. No other celebrities even mentioned.
An average schmuck like me might think it was a regular pro tournament. I figured it was very likely a celebrity tourney and easily saw that when I looked it up on the web. But I have no doubt, a lot of non-golfers who saw those TV news stories think he won a regular pro tournament.
Would it crush your soul to discover that it IS a celeb tourney?
I mean, after doing your due diligence of course.
Even the most casual of sports fans would prolly hear that Curry made the cut in a pro tour event. That this is a celeb thing that has been going on for over 30 years, well, that’s on the readers to figure out I guess.
“NBC Sports
@NBCSports
STEPH CURRY WINS THE
@ACChampionship
WITH A EAGLE ON 18”
“Steph Curry joins the ‘Mt. Rushmore’ of 2-sport athletes with American Century Championship victory
Curry won the American Century Championship in dramatic fashion, thus cementing himself among other legends who thrived playing two sports.”
Alternative facts! Outrageous! Routine sports coverage is not journalism.
Annnnnnnnnd . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . what?
All I’m saying is, after watching several TV reports about his win in the tourney, I shouldn’t have had to look it up on my own to find out it was a celebrity tourney.
That’s misleading reporting, whether we want to call it journalism or not.
I totally figured it was a celebrity tourney, but a lot of people don’t follow sports all that closely. They know Curry from TV commercials as much as anything.
It’s fluff. The average tv ad is far more misleading. And if you want to see dangerously mendacious, misleading reporting by alleged tv journalists, just watch SF Channel 7 nightly news.
If it’s any consolation BF, the photo of your friend is above a toe fungus ad, and makes it look like he’s part of the ad.
This new show on the MLB Network called “Off Base,” is pretty unwatchable in my opinion. It’s clearly another attempt to go after the younger “Cole Kuiper audience.”
Three young adults with a different ex-player each week. The older player looking kind of awkward hanging out with two young women and a young man, like some older guy hanging out at a young hipster bar, trying not to come across as kind of creepy.
And it’s a talk show, for an hour. If young adults are barely watching baseball these days, are they going to want to watch people TALKING about baseball, for an hour?
Channel 31 out of Sacramento still shows River Cats games on many Saturday nights. Sacramento channels are in the category of local channels for a big swath of the Central Valley.
Game resumes, Wade & Yaz K around Bailey HBP.
Fuck. i KNEW we needed to win last night.
Got screwed by the weather:(
Did he get De la Cruz?
I occasionally hate reply!
Fuck.
wow what a play by Rogers.
Yes! Elly outsmarted that time.
Hey now!!!
Game ain;t even on streameast
Tyler bails himself out.
Lucky:) Go Giants!
De La Cruz with a TOOTBLAN.
JOC!!
Joc comes through!
Joc shot!
Yes!!
Wow. Wish I could see this.
Joc gets home!
yaha!
Delayed Victory!
Ballgame!!
Joc was a big hero in the 10th with that great AB and great baserunning.
I was surprised to see him score standing up given how hard Conforto hit that with Reds playing in. And he hit that drive over the head of Reds LF off the wall.
His jump was terrific.
The balk rules forever mystify me. Somehow Rogers’ move to second base wasn’t a balk, but I don’t know how. Krukow probably would have explained it.
Just saw the highlights. Pederson is a little smarter than I give him credit for. Scored easily on the hot smash by Conforto. That’s solid baserunning.
And getting to 3rd was big too on ball that hit off knob of Wilmer’s bat to 1B and there was a little confusion.
Player of the game is Tyler Rodgers he schooled Elly on that perfect pickoff which was not a balk and Elly was already in scoring position. The kid is going to be great but somebody in Reds dugout needs to curb his aggressiveness when it wasn’t needed..Rookie mistake they all go through it..
Game 2 start is being delayed by rain…
dang, Dogs up 5-0 in second vs. O’s. 3 run HR from Jason Heyward. game is on TBS
Ha, heard Coltrane’s beautiful “After the Rain” early this morning on local jazz station.
One of my favorite guys I’ve never seen.
Still no game?
Looks like 8:30 EST.
Game on!
Wilmer on fire
Wilmet!
Willlllburrrrrrrrr! Dude is on fire.
Sorry for the delay.
The barn doors were jammed…
That pitcher’s mound looks flat.
Disco’s back. Gimme shelter.
And so does the pitcher.
What a pissed away bottom of the first. McClain guessing the up and in after swinging and missing at the outside slider. Then the one horrible pitch of the inning, 91 mph slider right above the knees, gets clobbered.
It was low for a hanger, but–those LH hitters.
A cheapo HR right down the line. Noticed Manaea already warming up.
Lots of loud contact for the Reds
Oh fuck. So much for DeScaffolding. Get Manaea up.
And that hanging cutter just hung there.
DeSclafani pitching at that bandbox maybe not a good idea.
Otra vez!
Holy fuck!!!!!
WillllllllBurrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
So Wade’s knee that required long IL time last year and geriatric-level injections of lubricating gunk may be hurt again? What a surprise. Luckily Wilmer has learned how to play 1B. And man can he hit. Wilmer!
WILMET!!!
.294/.870
WILBUR FUCKING FLORES!!!2Bombs!!!
On Fire 🔥 ties this bad boy up!!
Oh fuck
Mamaea can’t throw it right anywhere.
Wow. Schmitt with a nice throw.
