His Return
Bochy back in Bay tonight. It’s wild, there’s this phenomenom happening, at least around here, where fans are rooting for the Rangers tonight. Just because of Boch. I obviously get all the love for my man but come freaking on.
We want Bochy to lose tonight, Saturday and Sunday. This isn’t that hard. We are Giants fans not Bochy fans.
We have an opener tonight who really isn’t an opener anymore (#Striplesslingrecently) and then our 2 aces.
We should beat the shit out Texas this weekend, lol.
Snarkk is so right about the new schedule and seeing different teams.
I no longer feel like me and Charlie Blackmon live together.
Might as well disband the leagues and remake the divisions.
Nobody under 80 cares about the old record book anymore.
After the merger, the NFL handed the new AFC the Steelers, Colts
and Browns and also massively reconfigured everything about 20 years ago.
Seems to have worked out fine…
The NHL has switched things around so many times that even big hockey fans couldn’t tell you the names of the divisions or who’s in which…
I still don’t get how Dallas was ever considered an NFC East team.
Yeah 19X that Blackmon Beard was more than a little much.
BTW, to play that long in Denver — is that baseball hell or heaven?
One the one hand, your chance of winning a WS is about nil. On the other, you get paid millions just like in any other city, but with no pressure, no expectations of winning anything. Just go to the park and play, and collect checks. I’ve been to Denver once, seems pretty livable, especially if you have millions in your investment portfolio. Whatever happened to Kris Bryant ?– making $millions and might as well be playing on the moon…
A’s managed to shut out Rangers offense Wednesday 2-0. Used opener and 4 others.
Texas scores most runs in AL and leads in BA OB slugging and OPS, 3rd in HRs. Seager having monster season.
Bochy is 68, Baker just turned 74. 2 old guys on top of AL West. Wonder if all the Bochy noise is just anti analytics ” stop reading the spreadsheet Kap” nonsense.
Alright fellow Giants fans, what’s your prediction? Starting tonight, next 15 games include 9 vs 1st place teams (Braves – 6; Rangers -3) and 6 vs 2nd place teams (Rays -3; Phillies -3). I’m not optimistic. Thinking Giants will trend toward 6-9 record.
That’s followed by 10 games with Reds (3), Padres (4) and Cubs (3).
If Giants still firmly entrenched in wild card race after next 25 games, they’ve earned it.
I’m not optimistic, but this team somehow manages to rebound after a deflating series or two. Much depends on avoiding a 1-5 or 0-6 vs. Braves.
I agree. My 6-9 prediction is predicated on belief Giants will lose both series to Braves. I also think Phillies on road in hitter’s park could get ugly.
8-7 Giants
The Baseball World of the Openers never expected to see that in my lifetime..Grrr
Texas is the #1 offensive club in MLB.
I would take one win right now in the series, and move on.
Yeah they’re pretty loaded Snarkk they have 6 hitters with over 60 RBI’s the Giants have ZERO led by Davis (56) and Conforto (52) it will have to be great pitching to win for the Giants..
Then again they took 2 out of 3 from Boston and they have a stout offensive LU, so it’s possible to take it to the Rangers and spoil Bochy’s home coming! Going to be an exciting weekend! Go Giants!
every time Giants face a tough stretch like this i think they’re gonna get clobbered. And then they play really well. So I’m gonna go against my instinct to stay 3 wins and say they win 9
We shut down Boston pretty well the other week.
Maybe it’s an AL thing. Then again, the suckin’ A’s and the California Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim @ Disneyland beat us. I have no clue. They are consistently inconsistent. TIme for an upturn?
Just win, baby!
Maybe they’ll have “HeGetsUs” etched behind the mound upon His Return.
Jesus Alou?
I swear I’ve seen a tossed rosin bag obscure part of one of those computer generated mound logos. I don’t know why that tech still amuses.
Apparently not all of them are digital. Although, if the AI is in now in charge, it certainly has a stake in ever more realistic simulations.
I think some of the digital ads behind homeplate incorporate slight horizontal wrinkles in one corner to make them look like old timey roll ups.
10-5 with a bullet. Estrada player of the week. Then Conforto.
Speaking of Jesus, I saw a funny thing on the CNN scroll yesterday.
“Evangelicals turning their backs on Jesus’ liberal ideals.”
I guess they are turning back to the golden calf.
A rare instance of rooting for Yanks tonight. Probably first time I’ve paid any attention to Yanks-Marlins since the ’03 WS.
Anyone hear this on KNBR.com with Bochy?
per blogger (Mr. Benson D) on TA, “When I stepped down, I had two years of getting put back together. Back surgery, two new hips and a knee.”
He did say he was retiring partly due to his health.
“Partly.” lol . . . Sheesh unc, that would be the entire reason for me . . . So glad, I quit the rat race in 2007.
Harrison’s last outing 8/10. 3.1 innings 1 hit 1 unearned run 0 BBs (!) 4 Ks 38 pitches. Giants being cautious after IL stint? dunno but if he does come up probably used after an opener.
“Get him outta there before he walks someone!”
Early today I saw that Vaun Brown had worked his way up into the Giants top ten prospects.
Tonight is an Apple TV game…
I’ve got it on.
I have the date calendared that I have to cancel it before getting charged…
Ha, me too.
1: LaMonte Wade L (1B)
2: Thairo Estrada R (2B)
3; Wilmer Flores R (DH)
4: Joc Pederson L (LF)
5: J.D. Davis R (3B)
6: Michael Conforto L (RF)
7: Patrick Bailey S (C)
8: Brandon Crawford L (SS)
9: Luis Matos R (CF)
P: Scott Alexander L
Kap pronounces integral “intregal”…
See, he’s as authentic as Bochy.
I went to one of the regular season games Texas played here in 2012. A lot of well fed middle aged white people in Rangers gear attended. I thought they all seem very subdued. Maybe losing the WS two years in a row does that to you.
Have no idea why that posted there.
Don’t lose faith in the app!
One of the ad screens behind the plate keeps flashing from green to geico. Bet that’s apples fuckup. Can’t wait for their drone shots.
Again, don’t let the game get in the way of an all-important interview. Stripchat was almost killed by a line drive, but “how’s the locker room, Jason?”
That one was supremely annoying.
Are they really talking about farts?
I think Conforto is the only guy the Giants have who can chatter as interminably as Scherzer.
One of my early heroes was born on this day August 11 1938, Reds CF Vada Pinson. Passed in 1995. Over 2700 hits 300 HRs 250 SBs, #28 alongside fellow McClymonds of Oaktown alum Frank Robinson in late 50s/early 60s Reds OF.
HS teammate of theirs in OF was Curt Flood who later transferred to Oakland Tech HS but also signed with Reds and made his debut 1956 before being traded to St.L after 1957 season.
FYI, there’s a setting on Apple TV to change the audio to your local broadcast.
Thank GOD!!!
Really? I’m looking for that.
I dunno, I kinda like not hearing Kuip’s “High Drive” on every ball hit to the outfield.
He aint announcing. Flemmiller tonight.
Ok, i got it on.
Get the scroll bar on screen and go to the icons on the lower right. The last one has a setting to change to local audio.
Stripsearch is growing on me.
And Pederson tweaks his back because Matos is not listening.
Hey thanks Chuck I just did that with the icon and back to real baseball minds Flem&Miller instead of D-Train and whoever the other idiot is..
Radio feed is well synced. (So far.) Nice!
Saved me a lot of animosity.
WTF is Davis doing? Is Conforto ever going to hit another HR? How many fucking balls down the middle of the plate is he going to foul off?
With Craw’s batting average currently at .205 he has a legitimate chance to finish at .200 or higher.
There goes Stripling. Game over.
And as soon as I put on Miller, “That’s gone.”
Great call though.
Gray has been piping fastballs down the middle all game and all we do is foul them off.
Is Stripling still growing on you Chuck?
2 monster bombs 💣 and one a splash hit as Stripling still continues as a HR giver upper machine..
You should be pissed at the hitters, not Stripling.
Matos has lost his warning track power. He’s now a groundball specialist. He especially loves to turn over the low and outside strike.
Jon Miller recaps the 110 mph back to back HRs with rueful admiration and then recaps the Giants output in a way that clearly asks, why can’t we do that? I think he’s captured the mood of the crowd that had to hear those two rockets launch.
2 runs shouldn’t be that big of a deal, but with the offense so feeble lately, it seems daunting.
Seems like only drama left is, can they get a runner to 2nd.
Hey now. At least the pitching is there. Davis has been missing pitches by a foot. No one can square up anything.
wow. meek as kittens.
Lol 😂 Mac that’s a good goal..
A runner on 2nd!
There ya go Mac a wild pitch and we have a runner at 2nd and now another one so a runner at 3rd!!
Where he goes to die.
Wow. What a suck AB there Mathias. Fucking foot inside.
Miller rightly killing Mathias for swinging at ball 4.
And then way late on a shitty 89 mph slider up and in the middle of the plate, because he stupidly swung at ball 4 on the previous pitch, I’d better be careful not to do that again …
The bottom of the order, indeed.
The overall excitement of a runner reaching 3rd was to much for this feeble attack,
Why Mathias over Ramos who actually has some power to tie it up?
Kap was playing for one run. I’m sure the stats approved.
Flemm sounds like he almost doesn’t believe his eyes over the hitting futility…
I didn’t understand what just happened…
113 mph against the closer. How do we like Ramos now? Looks to me like he needs some more ABs.
As if 3-game slide isn’t bad enough, we get to see Leone and Moore with Angels, now Smith with Rangers help close out these L’s.
I found out tonight you can get even less than a .01% on Immaculate Grid.
I got a .007% on someone.
The newer teams always kill me…
Who was it?
Giant/Cub – Don Landrum
This hitting futility is quite maddening…
Shit keep forgetting to play that.
Wow. Glad they sent Flores. Crap throw saved the day.
Wow. Loud contact.
Aaaaand Mathias leaves another plate full of ducks.
8 of 9. Pretty easy but I missed one. Boston Cy Young.
We should be bunting with the bases loaded.
