Strider.

Lol.

You can get +115 on Strider going over 8.5 strike outs. 8.5+ is a massive K number to try to hit. But does it also….almost……seem low?

They live or die this year depending on how they do the next the next 16 games or so,……..

Only hope is that they seem to play better in 2023 vs good teams than the lousy ones. I say we take 2/3!

Not recently. You never know, tho. The bats have to wake up. WTF is up w/Yaz?

Braves clobbering ball this season, tops NL for runs hit HRs BA OB slug and OPS. Olson has been on epic tear in last 2 months–he hit 25 HRs in 50 games. Biggest question fans have is whether Olson or Acuna are going to win MVP.
Hopefully pitching and D can keep games close for Giants to steal 1 or 2.

Yeah I left my heart in San Francisco once I saw the opponents on this Road trip they are cooked with no hitting and only Webb giving a glimmer of hope, but even he will probably get Cained! Krapler and his stupid moves are really irritating me.Lets leave Stripass in after he’s giving up 3 bombs on 9 hits just so Krapler can say he eats up innings and saves some arms is utterly BS.

Well, call this part of not getting any help at the deadline. Call Flaherty shitty but he’s a starter. Blaming Kapler for having to use the players available on his team is just silly.

EVERY team in the league it seems has 4-5 guys over 20 home runs. Our top guy has 15.

I’m amazed this team is even sniffing the playoffs with this shit line up.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on August 18, 2023 at 10:54 am

Point being, do you think we will dip into the pen against ATL? Like hard?

Someone has to take the brunt of covering for future fuckups. Beyond that, would it have felt better to lose 3-1 instead of 6-1? Until this team hits, Nolan Marichal couldn’t save us.

Another interesting Athletic article from Baggs today, primarily about Cuban Darien Núñez, aaa reliever on the edge of being called up, but broadly about the Giants grab-and-stash industry. They claim seriously injured players (they claimed Núñez off waivers from the dodgers while he was under the knife in tj surgery) and rehab them at their huge AZ training facility. Scott Alexander, eg. Apparently, no other team chases ambulances so zealously.

    • Winder's avatar Winder said, on August 18, 2023 at 10:57 am

That reminds me of Baalke drafting injured players in just about every draft. The only one that ever turned out great was Gore and that was a McClouhan(sp) pick. At least Z’s are not as expensive.

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on August 18, 2023 at 11:07 am

Yeah good luck to this guy, who told dodgers “hell no” when they tried to get him back.

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on August 18, 2023 at 1:05 pm

Great free healthcare and rehab, and a guaranteed salary, too? No wonder he’s on the right side of the rivalry now.

I can’t believe we have 3 games in a row not involving a pen starter. Cobb-Webb-Wood.

Pods bums halos all looking at a tropical storm flood watch (Palm Springs deluge too, in August). Hmmm. What’s going on?

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on August 18, 2023 at 11:50 am

What could it be? No idea, but rest assured, if Trump was president, these natural disasters wouldn’t happen.

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on August 18, 2023 at 12:08 pm

He’d step up to the map and redirect the storm’s path with his sharpie. Let’s see Biden do that.

    • Winder's avatar Winder said, on August 18, 2023 at 11:53 am

Yeah, they need the water just not all at once.

Hopefully the fuel industry and the politicians who support them and the big polluters will realize that profits won’t matter much when their customers are dying

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on August 18, 2023 at 12:11 pm

Think the fossil fuel industry makes a lot of money during disaster recovery and relief efforts? That may distract them from the long term concerns, just a bit.

Fuck. Get rid of the umps entirely. Shit’s getting worse, not better.

    • Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on August 18, 2023 at 1:21 pm

Looks like Kap’s suspension is due to being too close to dugout by the batting cage after his ejection. Seems a bit petty.

He copped to violating “spirit of the rule” after ejection and report in Chron said he high fived Joc after he scored on slide. It wasn’t for the argument on field itself.

xoot . . . I always get him and Skip James mixed up. You reminded me that Skip had similar circumstances, as he was an itinerant singer/guitar player for years, before being “discovered” at the Newport Folk Festival (1963 or 1964). World would never have known about him, Son House, and others, as was the case with Johnson.

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on August 18, 2023 at 6:21 pm

Luckily those guys survived. Johnson died before Alan Lomax could get to him. Johnson’s “stepson” and student Robert Jr Lockwood and his ramblin partner Johnny Shines went on to successful careers in Chicago.

3-0 and it’s Ballgame already the only drama left do they get a hit?

We’re on pace for a 12 zip drubbing. I see Angel Hernandez is at 2B; so, he’ll be behind the plate Sunday. Since he returned from some sort of rehab stint, he’s fully reclaimed his title, and that’s impressive given how bad many of his colleagues have been this season.

i’d love to see the stats on guys first game off a no hitter. Especially the last 20 years or so. I bet they are so bad. They run up that pitch count to get the no no and it seems like they’re all too pussy to pitch well the next game

Something to be said for the way Will Clark and Posey ended their careers. Walking away with their dignity fully intact.
