Nice mlb.com column on wilmet, with 1.000 OPS since june 1 and 3 straight months hitting .300 including August when Giants O is flailing. HR #19 off Fried yesterday and LHP starting again for Braves.
Looking at awesome Braves lineup, SS Orlando Arcia is having career for them. Acquired 2021 from Brewers he only got into 36 games and hit. 198. Last year OPS was .733 with 9 HRs in 209 ABs.
this season 15 HRs 17 doubles and career high .774 OPS. Braves stayed out of SS FA market, let Swanson walk, and haven’t missed a beat.
Braves drafted rookie CF M Harris at age 18 back in 2019, and now he’s starter. 12 HRs 19 SBs .787 OPS. Lot of guys still around from 2021 WS champs, including Acuna Ozuna Rosario Riley d’Arnaud and Albies, who is currently on IL.
They did make significant raid trades of A’s to get Matt Olson to replace Freeman at 1b, and for C Sean Murphy who has 20 HRs .518 slugging and OPS near .900, 140 points over anything he ever did in Oakland.
And they locked in all the core players to long term commitments!
Stud 3BAustin Riley 26 is there through 2033! They draft well obviously have a great scouting staff.Just an amazing talented LU&Pitching staff..
Arggh. Estrada had to get ball in the air. instead swung at two offspeed pitches below zone and struck out.
Giants young hitters do this–they let one ball low and out of zone go, and then swing at next one and K.
1977 with Angels, Bonds hit 37 HRs (most in career) w 41 SBs.
1973 with Giants probably one of his best seasons. 39 HRs 43 SBs. Drove in 96 scored 131.
Slash line .283/.370/.530 34 doubles.
“Didn’t Bobby Bonds just miss 40-40 when he was with White Sox?”
It was with the Giants. He had enough stolen bases, but hit 39 HRs. Just missed.
The great tragedy of his career was that a lot of people always flipped out about his high amount of strike outs in those days. He would put up outstanding numbers in power, runs scored, on-base percentage, and OPS, but a lot of people would ignorantly fixate on the strike outs. On-base percentage didn’t get great respect in those days, and OPS was literally unheard-of.
The grief he got over the strike outs dogged his career, and eventually messed up his confidence, I’m guessing.
In today’s environment, he would have been celebrated a lot more for his talents.
Let’s rock and roll vs. Atlanta!

yaha! gets a hanger and makes them pay.

Estrada sure is making a lot of solid plays tonight.
whoosh 99 right by Ozuna who has tortured Giants.
Ball game. Nice win and for Murph.
Nicely done. Doval pretty sharp there and hit 100 couple times.
Doval gets the 1-2-3 save, but still needs to get his head out of his asz re: pitch clock violations.
Good salvage win to avoid the sweep…

37 HRs was second highest lol.

This was the great tragedy of his career, but I know what you meant…
Nice win. That they scored again after blowing 1 lead and nearly another was good. Beck turning into a starter! lets hope
As we used to say in Brooklyn, fuck em where they breathe
Whatever that means…
BB was the best player in the game in 1973.
Not even looking up anyone else.
Alcohol did him in.
Jim Ray Hart too…
and Sudden Sam
and countless others…
