Getting It Done
Another all-out effort to beat a terrible team but we will take it. At least it looks like they’re trying again. Can’t say that for the roadie they just came off.
Only 1.5 out of final WC spot.
Has there ever been a lamer more underwhelming debut from a player who came with so much hype? Watching Rodgers run onto the field with the flag was inspiring but also weird looking. He just isn’t a Jet. And then to go down on the 4th play, man, I can’t even imagine how frustrating it must be to be a Jets fan for all these years. Back to Zach, lol.
Guardians have good pitching, top 5 AL for ERA, and AL is stronger league. A’s shut out Stros last night on road and beat Rangers too.
Manaea with start today, Harrison tomorrow. With Winn, 0 BBs 9 Ks and multiple shutout innings after early troubles, 5 regular SPs and no openers. Hope Cobb can survive rest of season, gutty effort last night. And Kap brought Doval in early, smart move.
Interviews with athletes usually aren’t interesting, but the interview with Cobb after the game, on the post-game show, was pretty interesting.
He said the medical staff said there’s no structural damage in his hip, but he feels pain in it. He didn’t use the word pain, though. He danced all around the word, like so many players and managers do. Bochy would say a player’s ankle was barking at him. That kind of thing.
During the game, Krukow talked about “good pain” and “bad pain.” Basically soreness vs. injury. The Giants and Cobb believe he has soreness, but not injury. He wants to pitch through it.
During the game, Krukow talked about the importance of not altering the pitching motion because of pain and messing up the arm.
Cobb wants to be a gamer. He believes he can manage the pain. He said in the middle of his stint last night, the hip felt loosened up. He said he feels zings once in a while from his hip.
Must be like when you strain your back. You are feeling ok and then one wrong tweak and you are right back where you were and sore. Looks like exactly what happened with Cobb with that one pitch. At least he can get non-stop treatment that I would love daily.
Well dude I followed you into Covid land. thought it was just post flu shot sickness and wonder if that magnified the effects over the weekend. Way sicker than last time and last time I did not think I was even sick and did not find out until my wife tested positive days later.
Both times was at a concert with one of my daughters indoors on a Tuesday and then by Friday sick:(.
i only really had one bad day. The rest felt just like a cold. You?
I got way sicker in college going to Mazatlan twice via the 24 hour train ride from the border. Still have a cough probably the worst aspect and basically laid on the couch in the basement away from everyone watching college and nfl and Giants all weekend, which is a normal Sept weekend anyway. Just missed getting out for some golf. Weather is finally breaking here this week and getting away from the blistering heat.
I was hoping the Jets were going to be a force this year but it looks like another year of .500 ball at best.
I think they have way too much talent with their D, running game and receivers to be .500. Wilson just needs to be their version of Purdy and I expect they will be in the playoffs…
Lot of funny stuff re: Rodgers/Jets in TA.
“what was your favorite moment from the Aaron Rodgers-Jets era?”
“rub some ivermectin on it and get back out there.”
“if he’s done his own research on serious ankle injuries…”
“most Jets thing ever”
Underrated aspect of COVID: you get to watch whatever you want, uninterrupted and unbothered.
Aaron Rodgers 18.75 per 4 plays this season! Ouch
Josh Allen threw three more catches to Jets players then Rodgers..
Though I love the Jets defense and Breece Hall looked great better then I expected, your not winning with Zach Wilson as your QB, and even WR Garrett Wilson takes a huge hit in his FF value..
Yeah, I’m not a huge Aaron Rodgers fan, but I really wanted to see what he would have done for the Jets. Just a crushing blow to them. KC and the Jets were neck and neck for the most snakebit franchises over the last 50 years. Till Mahomes of course.
Got to wonder if anything Rodgers talks to Zack sticks with him. That whole QB class of 2021 with Lawrence, Fields, Jones, Wilson, and Lance (minus Lawrence) looks like a bust.
Xoot you’re killing me with all those old Santa Cruz refs. Thankfully the Catalyst is still there. Saw the Tubes there, Neil Young, and Journey, when they did one of their last shows before Steve Perry joined. They were playing songs off the Infinity album. Weird. Neal Shon was just insanely good. Hated the direction they went in with Perry, but like Shon said, ‘we were starving. No one was buying our albums. We needed to eat.’ So they went pop.
Use to spend the night at the Dream Inn hotel most times when I went to the Catalyst. Coupled with the aforementioned, friends of mine, would try to party in Lake Tahoe or the Dream Inn on July 4th – shooting fireworks off the top floor balcony. Got arrested once for doing this. Good times.
We used to get some good performances on campus. Effing Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee played at the Cowell College dining hall one night. Circa 69. They showed up in line for breakfast the next morning. Dream Inn! Friend of mine delivered room service there. Funny stories. I hung out up the road at the lane or stockton ave. or on the east side, the hook, sharks cove, privates. One year I rented a shack a block from the harbor mouth, back when it broke beautifully all winter long. Ah, youth! as someone once wrote.
Yaz on hot streak now that he’s regained health, 10-16 with 4 doubles 2 HRs last 5 games. OPS up to .823, slugging at .486, 50 points higher than Joc with 14 HRs 22 doubles in 284 ABs. Due for an arb raise probably, only making $6 mil. Also one of Giants best OFs, capable of playing CF and RF at age 32. Bridge to younger guys still learning.
Speaking of younger guys, I like Blake Sabol just unsure how he fits in next year–C? OF? Both? As C clearly needs more work. Last night featured everything– clutch hit and steal, multiple passed balls.
Hella interesting, just dunno what Giants should do with him next season when he can be sent down to Sac.
“Both times was at a concert”
I had avoided Covid for three years, then last March I went to an in-door theater production in a small theater on a Saturday night, and on the following Wednesday night came down with a temperature of 101. The fever lasted about a day and a half and finally broke. I had congestion and coughing for several days after that, and finally that went away. I had a lot of fatigue throughout the process.
Been to nothing but outdoor shows since COVID. Like 4 or 5? I guess that helps. One indoor show. Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets at the Fox in Oakland. Microdosed. Had a blast.
this guy is so fucking funny

A Muslim in charge of a Jet, I spit my water out on that one!!! Funny stuff.
Only reports I’ve seen on Rodgers talk about him being “out for the season.” um, torn Achilles is going to take lot longer to heal beyond when SB is played in February. Jets got lot to think about.
Kruk and kuip touched on the Rodgers injury last night, in passing, but it spurred Krukow to start talking about the Giants’ multiple Achilles heels. Never before heard him fall for that.
Wasn’t listening to them a lot, as I watched PBS documentary on busing in Boston 1974 and fight (legal and physical in south boston and charlestown neighborhoods) over desegregating school districts. Louise Day Hicks… Frightening stuff.
I’ll check it out. I remember some of that in 74. I was reading during the game about Sept 11, 1974, when the weather underground blew up an Anaconda Copper office in Oakland to mark the one year anniversary of the CIA engineered coup in Chile. I was around here then. I don’t recall it at all.
spurred . . . i see what you did there
Wasn’t that something Biden was against? I seem to remember Kamala Harris going after Biden for the Boston busing deal.
I always believed the ballplayer complaints about Boston fans. Tip of the iceberg to ye.
Mauricio blasts 1st career bomb, Mets up 3-1.
Alonso #44, Mets 6-1.
A’s beating Verlander and Stros 4-1 in 3rd.
Coonrod trying to blow Mets lead in the 8th.
Bases-loaded HBP and walk, now 6-4.
Ottavino gets inning-ending DP, still 6-4!
Manaea starts out slinging hard but a bit erratic. I pray to the bb gods, banish the words arm slot from krukow’s mind tonight.
Craw flubbed a double play chance. The inning extends.
Manaea pitched through it.
Alvarez HR, Mets take 7-4 lead to 9th.
D-Backs lose!
The dreaded leadoff double.
So predictable.
The Giants act like “get him over, get him in” is something they’ve never heard of.
This is the second time Krukow has touted from the booth his lazyboy chair, which lifts him to his feet on command. No one needs to hear such gerontocratic crap while watching kids play baseball.
Sabol with another bomb.
Sabomb!
After 30+ pitch first inning, Manaea settled in nicely.
Dang, looked like Thairo was there to field that if Wade had stayed home.
Manaea deserves some Willie Mac votes.
Certainly deserved better fate tonight.
Think its gonna be Wilbur in a landslide.
Probably. We could start from the other end of the spectrum: it won’t be Stripling.
Wilmer got it last yeat, only other consecutive winners were Krukow 85-86 and Molina 07-08.
Another killer E.
Major setback.
Well, a bad stall. That two game series w/ AZ gets bigger everyday.

Killer L.
Like we’re going someplace anyway.
I’ll happily take the 3 to my urn…
Just bad baseball tonight from the Giants. Can’t get the runner over to third, can’t get the key hit, there were some mistakes on defense.
A reliever comes in with the bases loaded and on his first pitch he grooves a fastball right down the middle.
I’m almost to the end of Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities. Great book. I shouldn’t have taken so long to get around to reading it. Although, I have it on audiobook, so it’s actually somebody reading it to me. Great reader. He really gets into it.
It’s only 164 years old.
What’s the rush?
Did you pay for it with Confederate money?
