Crushing Rox
Had a day to acclimate in Denver, don’t ignore that. We are like 16-1 vs Colorado in our last 17 games. How is that even possible to do in baseball?
Smoke them like an old lady smoked a cigarillo in the 70s…..

“Don’t Boebert that vape, my friend”
Meanwhile, the “Family Values” governor in South Dakota is enjoying the baloney pony of Corey Lewandowski. HAHAHAHA!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12509093/Kristin-Noem-Corey-Lewandowski-secret-affair.html
Yep, a day off to get acclimated is a good thing, but now I’m worried about the double header and if we’ll have the pitchers going into AZ.
Good thing they have a day off Monday.
True, but I imagine a doubleheader in Denver can really whack out a staff. Hope not.
Slusser says Webb goes tonight (extra day of rest), Winn (also extra day of rest) and Cobb tomorow Manaea Sunday. Then day off Monday before the 2 at AZ.
Also says Conforto due back any day, which means a roster move out for someone.
Hope it ain’t Matos.
Shea has column in Chron about Sept 15 1963 being day all 3 Alous played OF together late in a game after starting OFs Mac and Mays had been removed. Mays supposedly said he’d come out and encouraged manager Alvin Dark to do it. Giants traded away Felipe to Braves that offseason.
No Giants game last night, so I finished A Tale of Two Cities. The ending is heartbreaking, but also one of the most well-known endings in the history of novels. I knew it was coming, but Dickens is so great it breaks your heart anyway. And yet somehow it also uplifts the reader. People do amazing good things. The world sees it everyday. But, unfortunately, the human species is also capable of heartless cruelty.
When I clerked for an appellate judge, a brief in a civil rights case assigned to me began:”It was the best and worst of times.” Oh no, I thought. Luckily, the law was good for the plaintiffs, even if their lawyers weren’t.
Dickens classic and favorite of mine. Hard to compare any author to the likes of Dickens. On non-fiction side, recently discovered Erik Larson and just started The Splendid and the Vile which details Churchill’s political and military daring and cunning as Great Britain was brought into World War II.
16 games to go. 10 on road and 6 at Oracle. With 4 teams in mix for last wild card, Giants probably need minimum 85 wins, maybe more. Gotta figure someone among D-backs, Reds & Marlins will go on run. Can our guys finish 10-6 or 11-5? If so need to jumpstart stretch drive with strong showing in Sherpa land this wknd.
Hopefully the Dodgers are just going with a lot of subs at the end to rest their regulars for the playoffs.
When Atlanta finally clinches home field throughout.
Baggs did point out in TA that Giants will own potential tiebreakers as long as they get at least split vs. DBax. They have season series edge over Reds, are one up on AZ and while even with Marlins should also hold next tiebreaker, intra-division W/L…still gotta beat up on Rox and survive what’s left of Dogs and Padres rotations.
Yeah, the old cliche, the Giants’ destiny is in their hands. Starting the day in a playoff spot.
With JD raking again, who needs Schmitt? Hope the option works out that way. Conforto needs to hit, too.
Good point. DeJong can handle SS and Flores can cover 3b in pinch or when Kap starts his pinch hitting and redoing the D shuffle
Maybe we are getting healthy at the right time?
Yeah I’ve always thought it’s the regular season that’s the crapshoot. If you’re lucky enough to be fully healthy when the PS starts, you’re on a roll. Other teams, maybe not, even if they were strong for a while.
Yeah, the Dodgers losing most of their rotation couldn’t come at a more opportune time.
For everyone else.

Cobb’s still trying to recuperate w/out an IL trip. The end of Sept crapshoot is on.
On that note, an optioned player must spend 15 days in the minors unless there’s an injury requiring a call up. So Schmitt is in play for the PS and Harry could return as soon as Stripper strains his back or Cobb hobbles off the mound again. Z works the rosters the way jaded divorce attorneys exploit tax laws.
Conforto 4 for 20 vs Anderson but all 4 hits were bombs
GO GIANTS!! 3/4 a must!
“On non-fiction side, recently discovered Erik Larson”
Yeah, he’s very good. I’ve read several of his books. All of them are interesting, in my opinion. He writes non-fiction in kind of a novelistic way, kind of like the way Truman Capote pioneered with “In Cold Blood,” a book I haven’t read yet, though.
It’s fun to discover new authors. I’ve recently started reading the novels of Colson Whitehead, who’s been around a while. I’ve been listening to the audiobook of “The Underground Railroad.”
I like Whitehead. Nickle Boys, Harlem Shuffle. Narrative voice in HS is great. Friend of mine likes James McBride but I find him gimmicky. Ishmael Reed and Percival Everett are daring and brilliant. Wonder if they record audiobooks? That’d be worth a listen.
I totally agree about Harlem Shuffle. I listened to the audiobook version.
The Underground Railroad is the only other of his books I’ve gotten to yet. I was excited to see he just published a sequel to Harlem Shuffle.
The other two authors you mentioned are new names to me. I’ll check them out. These days I look first for audiobook versions.
Percival Everett is amazing. “I am Not Sidney Poitier” is fabulous.
I took a quick Google look. Reed’s work is on audio. His excellent early novel Yellow Back Radio Broke Down was written as a mock radio script. It’s probably great in audio.
Hollywood’s making a movie version of Everett’s novel Erasure. Jeffrey Wright, who portrayed Basquiat in Basquiat and a cia agent in various bond films, will play the main character Prof. Thelonious “Monk” Ellison.
Webb is our ace. he needs to pitch well tonight!
Marlins losing, and Alonso just hit 3-run bomb to get Mets tied at 3 with Cincy.
A run without a hit at Coors.
Pitching coach for Rockies has to be one of worst jobs in the game.
Haha.
India hits one to India, Reds re-take the lead 5-3.
And now Fish are winning.
Sheesh, this guy is getting titty from “Vaping” sexpot Boebert . . . Too funny!

My bad . . . she’s feeling his crotch. lol https://www.tmz.com/2023/09/15/congresswoman-lauren-boebert-boobs-crotch-beetlejuice-musical/
Orchestra seating at a musical comedy seems a strange place to get just a little bit out of control. They must’ve been mixing up some chemicals. Nothing wrong with any of that, really, for the average fool, though it does suggest that she may be too stupid to do her job.
2 nice stabs there to preserve shutout for Webb.
Beautiful D. Excellent Webb. One run through six. Damn
Wow. The D comes through.
Got to add on to this. Or get a fucking hit.
Hideo Nomo only pitcher with no no at Coors Field, 1996 for Dogs.
No Rox pitcher has ever done it there.
I’m sure it’s happened, but has anyone been no-hit and won?
I remember years ago Yanks had no-hitter vs. ChiSox and lost.
Maybe Webb has to start offering to pay his teammates for hits in his starts…
This guy’s name might be mentioned before the night is over…

Yeah. How many hitless innings did he have before he lost game?
Pretty sure 12…
Logan Webb and Wilmer Flores are the studs on this team. I think it’s Wilmer time.
Slater you dumb shit.
Shouldn’t have thown home
Good throw woulda had him. Maybe. Or been cutoff to nail the other runner.
Mac with the facts is right. Andy Hawkins threw no hitter for Yanks at Comiskey July 1 1990 and lost 4-0. Bases loaded flyball error on J Leyritz brought in 3 runs (2 BBs and error on grounder had loaded bases), another OF error a fourth.
Should’ve said decades ago. Yeah, pre-dynasty Yanks
A hit!
Takes care of that, finally.
fuck, Conforto. Move the goddamn runner
Conforto is not living up to my ex-Met standard.
Hope he opts out but I think he’d be an idiot to do so.
Boras’ advice has backfired before…
I think someone will throw money at him.
Great eye Wilmet!
Ice water in his veins. Wilmer.
Wilmer!
Wilmer is unflappable!
Oh, lordie.
I’ve beeen trying to figure out who wore 21 on the Giants other than Kent.
Finally dawned on me it’s Roberto Clemente day.
As did Candy Maldonado – the overlooked part of the 1986 turnaround and even better in ’87 till the playoff gaffe.
Still one of my favorite Giants…
And Slater with the complete opposite AB from Wilmer’s.
None of those were strikes. Fuck, Slater. Go away.
That was a weird ass game.
What a stupid way to lose. This one’s on Slater for being worthless.
Do-fail.
Was Doval late in covering?
He was standing too close looking confused.
Do they have offsetting penalties in baseball?
Re-play the down. Good throw gets Blackmon.
Wtf was bailey so far back? And Doval not back far enough? Blackmon made the immemorial good slide.
Well replay shows Bailey set up pretty well. Still, no back up at all from Doval.
Fundamentals went out with high button shoes…
Still blaming Slater for being absolutely clueless in his AB.
Slater may be the one true liability on the team right now. Kapler can cite all the stale stats he needs to justify his mistake, but Slater shouldn’t be out there now.
Maybe tomorrow they switch to Virginia Slims…
Us kids were into these big time for a while…
The Colorado St. coach thought it was a good idea to talk some smack this week about Coach Sanders.
Spoiler alert: it was not a good idea.
Some Padre stuff and interesting comments…
https://nypost.com/2023/09/15/padres-clubhouse-culture-at-center-of-253m-disaster-season-report/
DAMN. That sucked. Doval bad pitching and lame baseball IQ for not being farther back. Sigh
Crushing defeat. Two outs away from stealing win after being no hit thru 8 with “openers” starting today and tomorrow. UGH!😫
