Taking a break from the Giants. Endulge me. One of my oldest friends died unexpectedly yesterday and I just need to vent a little….
i love all the people in my life today but they’ll never know what it’s like to be one of my first childhood friends. Childhood memories. Crazy wide-eyed kids, running up and down Walter Hays Drive. Football in the street. Tossing extra points over that big assed lamppost next to Deanne’s house. Indian Ball. Hitting tennis balls to Ernie till his paws bled. His first Fender. Playing it till his fingers bled. Palo Club. My catcher then and till the end. Hoodlum Pride. The greatest guitarist I will ever know. Rock-On In Peace bro…..

Don’t know if he ever played this tune but if I close my eyes I can hear him play this solo near the end….

GPS in the middle. 2002?

Sad news indeed. Cool you kept your circle from childhood. My circle all drifted off even with couple of them were in my State fraternity (one passed shortly after college with testicular cancer…that really sucked). The next one of my college circle bros went last August from mysterious case of lung cancer. Peace!
So sorry, Craig. It’s like losing a piece of your soul. Lost a friend last year suddenly and I was just glad we had recently talked. We were very close when our kids were young but we went different ways. Huge 49er fan and no matter where we were in life or what the circumstances were, there was always time to talk football. First one of my real close friends to die. Condolences.
PS, one of my favorite AC/DC songs that never gets airplay.
Here’s one for Kevin. He used to play this all the time in his high school band.
Dang Craig, so sorry to hear about your loss. The last few years I’ve lost some really close pals and I know how tough it is. Take care man.
Sorry to hear about your friend Craig. Hang in there..
Sorry for your loss, BF. It’s such a hard thing to lose loved ones.
54, too young.
Way too young. I’m sorry.
Yeah tough one. Sad to say Memorials often only times you see older friends.
Verducci wrote today that SF is baseball’s “most boring” playoff contender.
I’d say he stuck that one right…
So sorry for your loss, Flav. Sounds like a childhood well-spent.
Condolences, Flavor.
Know how you feel all too well.
Remember the good times…
So sorry, Craig. These old friends fill us up and then leave just a little hole in the heart when they’re gone. But on we go…
I have absolutely no idea what to make of Lamont Wade…
Another Dude by Cobb:(
Alex Wood will be gone next year, right? I mean, the Giants won’t resign the guy, will they?
With Stripling returning? Naw. They’re moving forward.
Swing the goddam bat, ya fat fuck!!!
Yeah, that was a fairly pathetic at bat..
You remember Don Koharski, NHL ref? ’80s, I’m guessing. Not a sterling ref, if I remember correctly. Remember one time Jim Schoenfeld, coach for Buffalo (?), getting into it with Koharski after a game, said “Have another donut, you fat pig.”
Sure, Paul – I think it made em both famous…
That happened when he was Devils coach in blowout loss to Bruins in East finals playoff game. I may have been at this game at the Meadowlands, though can’t remember which one. Maybe Game 3?
1988.

Born to lose.
I’d say it’s all over and just as well.
They’re so boring…
Yeah, Mac, you’re right, it was Devils/Bruins, which is why I remember it, being a Bruins fan at the time, certainly watching that game…. I think Schoenfeld played for Buffalo but not coached…
Yes, first year Devils made the playoffs, they knocked off Isles and Caps before losing to Bruins in 7. I think Boston lost to the Oilers in the finals?
Heavy sigh
Briefly saw the Verducci take in SI, calling Giants the most boring post-season contender… but goes even further about analytics/platoony ball and says if this is the future of baseball, he wants no part of it….
Eff him. Has he seen that Reds are platooning Elly because he’s in a big slump and can’t hit left handed pitching? Not taking anything away from AZ, they have good young hitters speed and couple guys with power. But like others after WC spots, up and down a lot. At one time early July they were 50-34. 30-38 since.
