Kick Him To The Curb
That Niner game was absolutely infuriating. And I don’t really care that our shitty kicker hit a long one. We’re just waiting around for him to miss another. It was a huge mistake to draft him in the 3rd round, a mistake that goes on a long list of early round draft picks by Lynch/Shanny. Get rid of him and find some no name kid from Eastern West Iowa State who just wants to surprise everyone……
Happy for Boch.
Now if Philly can just get their head of of their ass and win today I’ll be happy……
And a big Happy Birthday to MACDOG!
Thanks Flav! 11 years ago today was the Sandoval game.
Ha, enjoy Mac! Great anniversary to celebrate as well.
What a pisser of a game. I pegged our defense was going to come in looking for blood and Cousins of all people picked us off and like many games last year we are containing and give up third down after third down. The Vikings only punt was late in the 4th.
My son and I both thought they should have gone for that 4th down down 22-14 instead of worrying about a long field goal. But maybe that would not have changed the outcome. Worse Purdy performance by far, especially that last throw.
Shocked AZ is still in this so let’s go Douchebags….but this is certainly nowhere near a team with a Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. How did the Phillies let them back into this series?
Pitching cost Phils. Their pen blew 2 games and then Nola reverted back to regular season/not that good version and AZ yanks balls out of that yard. The kid they couldn’t hit last time goes tonight. Be an epic meltdown if Phils fail.
Nope. They are sticking with Moody. And he wasn’t the biggest problem yesterday.
Wilkes is officially on the hot seat as our DC. He did NOTHING to stop Cousins. The one all-out blitz gave Minn a TD to end the 1st half. Stupid beyond belief. That is the one time a prevent defense is warranted. Tackle anyone on the field and the half is over. Dumb dumb dumb.
To me it looked like the same 4 guys doing the same thing all night. Did we run any stunts? No. Bosa Hargraves and AA are not doing much in the backfield. Ferrel is doing the most disrupting.
“they’re sticking with moody”. lol. Yeah. Right. Wait till he misses another one
They kept Dante Pettis and Jalen Hurd for 3 years and neither did anything.
The defense lost that game anyway. Fucking Wilks and Shanny were out-coached big time.
i agree the D was terrible and Wilks needs to get his shit together but a failing K isn’t like two shitty 3rd round after thought WR’s that weren’t playing anyway.
I’ve been in Mexico City the past week visiting friends. Missed most of baseball and sports news. Good for Bochy, Dusty retires on an ALCS high note — he’s got a ring and sure fire HOFer. If Bochy wins the WS, that is really going to shine the spotlight on the Giants front office. Down here, I’m getting used to eating dried grasshoppers. Surprisingly good. Crunchy and kind of taste like potato chips. Went to a festival up in Guanajuato about 4 hours north of MC by car. First world vs. 2nd and 3rd world differences in glaring view all in one place. Getting into mezcal margaritas…
Enjoy vacation. Old friend of mine used to hit coast (Mazatlan iirc) to catch WS back in day, once his cannery job let off.
Giants FO will be primary focus for all the offseason, though I think Melvin is good hire. He’s worked with Z before and had winning seasons everywhere he’s went, from Seattle to AZ to A’s and SD where they got to NLCS 2022. He had 8 winning seasons in Oaktown where he was first in division 3 times and second 3 more.
Lot of fun to look back at 2012 WS. Zito (!) Pagan Scutaro Pence Posey Craw Pablo Belt… Blanco with assist to Scutaro to Posey sweep tag on Fielder Game 2. 3 saves for Romo, 4.2 hitless relief innings from Lincecum (after awful season 10-15 with ERA over 5.00), Bum with 7 shutout innings Game 2, Vogs and Cain to finish Tigers off. Affeldt and Casilla in pen for Bochy behind rotation.
Was in Vegas airport watching Game 2 waiting for return flight after mgmt. conference. good times.
Happy birthday, Mac!!
Thanks Unca!
i don’t expect we’ll release Moody but I do expect a fake injury coming so he can clear his head. Maybe not this week but if he misses 1 next week, especially if it’s high leverage….he gone

Doubtful. But whatevs. Maher is a 33 year old retread that cost the Rams nothing. Shanny is gonna give Moody every chance to get his shit together. Just like they did with Hurd and Pettis. If not, fuck it. Sign Gould.
Moody had made 9 in a row. I think he’ll be fine anyway.
The real issue is their drafts overall in the 1st through 3rd rounds have been awful. Bosa and Aiyuk are the only decent guys they have drafted in the 1st round after 7 years. The curse of their 3rd round picks continues.
they gave away Lance (something you said would never happen as well) and he cost them a lot more. I just don’t think it’s a big deal to dropkick a head case kicker and find another one, easily, who costs nothing who will do a better job.
Your way over reacting about Jake Moody Flavor he was perfect on FG’s 9-9 the 1st 3 games didn’t even get attempts the next 2 games but made every extra point, misses 2 ( one 57 yard attempt and of course the GW )in Cleveland in shit windy/ rain conditions and the 1st one against the Vikings( even Joseph choked one)but nailed a 55 yarder later so he’s missed 3 all year in 7 games where a bum like Maher which I hope you don’t want has missed 6 FG’s! Moody will be fine, obviously Shanahan has confidence in him sending him out for that long FG and he boomed it thru.Like Adam Rank would say :”You got to chill man” he was also leading the FF scoring early on but just didn’t get attempts for 2 weeks and dropped down but he’s still top 10…
he’s a headcase. Fuck him. We can’t have him losing games for us, they are too critical.
By that criteria, we should get rid of Purdy since he lost th game and was such a low-level pick. Purdy did more to lose the game than Moody.
Nick Castellanos homered in first AB of AZ series off Gallen, third one Gallen had given up by that time in second inning. Castellanos has not had a hit since, sitting on 1-20.
Baggs says that the Giants are about to announce Melvin as the manager. No surprise there, I think he’ll be a good fit.
Happy Birthday, Mac. Have yerself a good one. Cheers.
Thanks Loco!
Hire Melvin, restock the coaching staff, sign a couple of Asian superstars (but not big O), and a good FA or three, and maybe sellout opening day? Maybe. But a friend of mine has dumped the season seats she’s owned since the ballpark opened.
I have to say, tho, that I like imagining executive committee member Buster welcoming Bob Melvin to the interview.
Your impression of Melvin’s days with A’s?
Excellent. Without him those chaotic, underpaid teams couldn’t’ve done so well.
Happy Birthday Day Mac!Cheers have a great day!🎉🎊🍻
Thanks Kat!
They could do a lot worse than Melvin.
Thanks Xoot. First 3 years as full time mgr. W totals were 94 96 and 88. After 3 off years, success returned.
Vogt played for him for first 6 years; maybe he would be successor if things went well and Melvin wanted to retire, as he’d indicated earlier. So did Manaea who had good couple years with Melvin and A’s as well. Wonder if he’d consider staying?
I saw a story about Melvin congratulating Manaea when the Padres made the PS last year. Suggested they were close friends. I’ll bet Vogt would love to work for him.
Bob Melvin? I’m somewhat underwhelmed. Is 61 year old manager with .515 winning percentage over 15+/- years the answer to loose clubhouse and need to recruit marquee players from US, Japan & South Korea? Seems to me Farhan replicated Kapler hiring by selecting manager he’s built relationship with from another organization. Prioritizing comfort level over someone willing to challenge and question Farhan’s roster building strategy.
Regardless, success or failure of offseason comes down to free agent acquisitions and trades.
Baggarly’s piece in the athletic last week dug into Melvin’s connections to Asian baseball. We’ll see.
He loves General Tsao’s chicken…
Right. The manager’s role in determining the future of the Giants is not the big issue .It is Farhan and the guys we get. I’m fine with Melvin. I just wonder if he’s too much in line with Kapler in that he can do good with a mediocre squad but not lead a more talented squad to greater things.
love the Melvin hire. Who did you guys want, a pregnant Nakken? She can have her time later. Melvin knows what he’s doing. 3 time Manager of the year. Sign me up
As opposed to other lackluster internal candidates/inexperienced new guys that would have to deal with changing roster, Melvin definitely a good move. Now get him some players!
I also think Melvin bringing some coaches with him and some attrition from Kap’s infantry are positive developments. I was disappointed that Kap’s guys couldn’t seem to help the rooks that struggled at plate, or Matos problems in CF especially coming in on balls.
The fact that so many hitters fell off so drastically over 2 month stretch only adds to feeling coaching staff has to own up to part of blame for slide from 13 games over .500 to 5 under.
Fresh set of eyes needed.
Valid point about coaches bearing some accountability for August/September collapse and need to bring in new coaches to support Melvin. Boch certainly had strong supporting cast in World Series years including Righetti, Wotus & Flannery.
Don’t forget Whitey!
I’m just glad it’s someone with a track record, anyway. They made it sound like we would get Wotus or Chick Correa or some other inexperienced guy.
Other than Matt Williams, no idea who Melvin’s coaches are.
Tie game!
Well Matt Williams will always be best in a Giants uniform he definitely should be a Melvin hire and has been with the A’s as well so he’s coming I believe. And I’m hoping Andrew Bailey( ties with Melvin as well) stays he really is a good pitching coach.I would still like to see Donnie Ecker poached off of Bochy’s staff the bench coach/ hitting coach he’s a local guy as well.
I agree Melvin is the best person available for the job. Don’t know how we are gonna do but it was obvious with the lackluster that play we needed a huge change. I just had the feeling that there were way to many high paid and high ego players on SD’s team that couldn’t get the play as a team attitude. IMO
Dusty is apparently retiring. Next stop hall of fame.
I like Dusty but he pussied out (old Brooklyn expression) on Bartman, and screwed up big time handing the “game ball” to Ortiz.
Hall of my ass…
I can’t remember any Niner team crashing and burning over a two game stretch like we have the last couple of weeks. Totally disgusted with the coaching and the overall play. Glad I didn’t buy any tv football plans this year(almost did). I can listen to em on the radio when we play like crap but I can’t watch em on tv it just makes me crazy.
Yeah, pretty much. Super frustrating when they couldn’t stop anything. The vaunted defense.
Same old same old 4 man rush for most of the game.
Phillies looking like a choke job special as D-backs totally out playing them!
4-2 right now.MVP for the D-backs will be Phillies Kimbrel 🤣😂🤣as they will advance to the W/S to face Boch& the Texas Rangers imo..
“Yo Adrian!”
Down goes Philly!!
Damn. What a crappy 2 sports days. 9rs sucked, now Az in. Dubs can’t make a shot!
Hate the snakes. They are gonna be good for a while. Funny how them and the Rangers picked up some good players at the deadline and they are going to the WS. Go Rangers!
So much for that intimidating home advantage.
D-Backs bullpen was LIGHTS OUT the last 2 games with Thompson,Ginkel, and Seawald just hammering strikes! Harper.217 Castellanos.043,Rojas .136 Turner .200 they just shutdown this LU at their place to win the last 2 and head to the W/S with a match with Boch’s boys Texas..
Watching the Warriors,I wonder if Dunleavey is thinking about trading Thompson for a big man.
The Warriors gave up so many offensive boards yet again. They kept the turnovers down. Till the 4th quarter. And PHX kept trying to give it away.
That Saltyfrank guy though does nothing but walk guys.
