We Are Back!
Ok, so wordpress sucks, noted. Finally got back in after signing in and out again and that’s after trying everything else and getting totally ghosted by the WordPress support team who can truly and completely go chortle my balls……
Grading the off season: Gotta go with an A. Farhan started slow and finished strong. It’s impossible to say we aren’t better than we were last year. Certainly from the standpoint of how incredibly boring our players were. But also, this team is just flat out better. Am I a huge Snell fan? Hell no. It shocks me that this guy has won 2 CY’s. But for max 2 years? He’ll do just fine. And he instantly takes the pressure off Harrison and even the infirmed who now don’t have to feel like they need to race back to the roster.
Matt Chapman? Again, not the biggest fan. It’s got a little bit of a “Longo” feel to it, right? But is he better than Casey Schmitt? Come on, yes. He’s a huge upgrade.
Soler? Yeah, bring him aboard. Legit power. We kinda need that after rolling out the weakest and slowest team in all of baseball last year.
Robbie Ray? Yeah, I mean, NOW I’m cool with it. Getting Snell helped me feel ok with this move. Whenever Ray comes back, if he’s even remotely the same, he will be a valuable rotation piece as the Summer wears on.
Jung Hoo Lee? Shit, that’s a lot of scratch to pay for guy from Korea but he’s got personality to burn as well as speed. I’m down with this guy. He just feels right.
Tom Murphy? Hell yes. This guy has legit power in his bat. More right handed power is a good thing. Perfect back up catcher.
Jordan Hicks? Again, NOW I’m cool with it. They say starter but I see him more valuable in the BP and locking down our 8th inning with serious gas. We’ll see how this works out.
Renel not getting re-signed? Eh, I don’t really care about that. She was fine. I’m not in the majority that is handwringing her loss. They’ll find someone else and we’ll get used to that voice in short order.
Again, this in an A off season. Farhan spent more money than everyone but the Dodgers. He brought in players who not only make the team better but who also tote around flair and excitement. As long as we don’t incur a single injury this season I like our chances. lqtm.
Ok gents, today is going to be a rough day. At high noon we have to put down the greatest cat to ever live, my man Carson. He gave us the best 17 years a cat could give to a family, through his diabetes and other health issues he stayed strong. But his little heart just isn’t working right any more. Time to say goodbye to this good ol’ boy. .

Nice Roundup, Biggy. Good to see a starter named Robbie. Like Robbie Reiss.
RIP Carson the Brave.
thank you dafingaZ. Nice to see you comeback as post #1 for this year’s grand revival of The Flap.
RIP Carson. Having to put a member of the family down is never a good day, even when you know it’s time. Our Vet is awesome, she let us come in when the place was closed, when it was time for our buddy, Woody. Take care Craig.
that’s real nice of her. Carson hated a lot of things, dogs were at the top of the list. But the vet was right after that so we are having a company called Peaceful Pathways come up to the house. More expensive than taking him into Adobe but it’ll be worth it if he doesn’t experience even an ounce of stress today…..
Thats the way to go.
I go B+ grade but can turn into an A and hope your daughter is not tooo down with your great cat run…
Feeling Flappy. Happy the Flap is back. Still kinda blown away by that 17 years….
in the last 3 years he’s been a LOT to manage. Diabetic. Had to give him 2 shots of insulin a day, special food, had to keep him away from the other cat during feeding time. Stage 4 kidney disease. He’s been very expensive, he averages out about $1000 a month. He’s been a full time job on top of the other 3 I have right now. But I would have done it forever. This cat is straight up the best. Over the years he always sat right next to me in the morning when I’d write the Flap threads. I’m gonna miss him terribly. But, it’s time.
Nice writeup, Flavor! Jung Hoo Lee is the guy I’m most curious about. This team will definitely be more fun to watch. And if one guy named Shohei goes down, then we could possibly win the West. Hit take, I know.
this gambling story hasn’t even gotten CLOSE to being cracked open. I personally think Ohtani is FUCKED. We shall see.
suspend him for the year!!!! lol!!!
Sorry to hear about Carson, Craig. I know how difficult these things are to go through. You gave him a good life and that’s what matters the most.
Good take on the Giants. It’s been a weird off season with all the machinations the Dog pile has been engaged in, but the Snell signing caps a good series of moves by the G’s. At the very least, this should be an interesting season and I’m looking forward to it. After the debacle that was the end of the 49ers season, I’m more than ready for baseball.
At the very least we should finally find out about the prospects and what they can do at the big league level. That’s the hope anyway. Cheers.
this Ohtani story and the Flodgers and Yamamoto getting blown out today is a real juicy story…real juicy!!!
Several years later, we still haven’t replaced our kitty, who nearly made it to 20. The vet actually came to our house to do the deed.
That’s a lot of new players who have to disappoint or get injured in order for them to finish 500 again. On the chance Matos doesn’t get called up, that should mean things are pretty 2021ish in the OF.
No shit, welcome to the big leagues, Mr. Yamamoto. lol
Ha, yeah cool to see Pads get a split and whack Dodgers pitching around.
Always hard to lose pet you’ve cared for long time, especially if there were health problems over years. I think most Giants fans feel good about additions including Melvin. My godson Pads fan will be at Petco Friday, should be great way to open season. Cheers all
Good grading, tho I think you underestimate Chapman. Every week he makes a play that would be the season highlight for a merely good 3B.
I had to put down a remarkable little cat about ten years ago. I got to soothe him as the drugs took effect. I had him cremated and delivered to me in a nice cedar box. When my house was burglarized, the thieves were obviously frustrated to find no cash. Closet corners, sock drawers, desks all tossed in vain. The little cedar box wound up on a table in another room. They couldn’t open it. Of course, I would’ve vacuumed up the dust and reverently replaced it if they had.
just hearing that they disturbed that box of ashes makes me wish I could murder them.
So sorry about the cat, Flav There’s nothing more brutal than putting down a beloved pet. 17 years, he had a great run and was there for 3 WS titles.
As for the Giants, the Soler & Snell signings have me alot more psyched for the season. Chapman’s an upgrade over Davis, but how long before he gets hurt? I just wish Slater & Yaz were shown the door. If they can move on from Craw, why not those two who will inevitably get hurt, especially Slater, and contribute little. But they’re still here, so I’ll hope for the best.
still here blocking Matos. Change has to come.
I had a vet tell me, as he was euthanizing our beloved golden retriever Rosie, that he had seen more grown men cry than a funeral director. I don’t doubt that.
Nice post and glad you’re back. I feel ya about Carson sad day but he will no longer be in pain.
I don’t know which of my cats were the best but I know I loved Bob probably the most he was just an amazing cat in so many ways. I still have 3 cats now and they are all special to me because they are all different in how they act. The last one I had to put down had leukemia and by the time I figured it out he was pretty sick. When I took him to the vet he asked me if I wanted to spend a little more time with him and I yeah. The vet came in with the shot and instead of inserting it in a vein he muscle popped him. He told me in a couple of minutes he won’t be in any pain and that in an hour he will come back and give him another shot in the vein which works immediately. After a minute or so Billy sat up and started rubbing all over me he was so happy I guess he had been sick for quite awhile and I just didn’t see it. Anyway, I will take that memory to the grave.
that’s the saddest best shit I’ve ever read in my life. And now, Carson is gone
i’m numb. But he’s free from his diabetes, his hunger,
his stage 4 kidney disease and his congestive heart failure.
felt no pain or stress. Mission accomplished.
He will always be in your memory.
You know how I feel, Flavor. You and Katie couldn’t have done more. Happy trails, Carson…
