One Week Away
Slater is hurt again. Elbow, arm, something like that. Always something with that guy. Despite being a good Stanford lad I’ve grown tired of his unhealthy ways (not to mention his mediocre production). This likely means we could see Matos make the opening day roster–a far more interesting scenario.
I think Matos has to be on the roster and playing as much as possible to see if he is legit. Should be auto start against lefties and coming in for Conforto and Yaz half of the other time and pinch hitting for them. Slater suffers from what ails us Flav…white dude syndrome. I am on the DL for golf for god’s sake…
Criminy, we can’t find anyone to adequately replace (S)later? I though last year if he is still on the team come April, we haven’t done a good enough job.
Cut him loose. Play Matos.
yes
Sooooooo, what are the odds that Ohtani’s “close friend” and interpreter is making bets for Shohei?
Be crazy if this brings Ohtani down.
Another Greg Anderson situation?
Ohtani is to important to the game this is a perfect situation where ignorance of the rules is an excuse.
I don’t know what they will do with Slater but it does seem like Matos should be playing no matter what. I am just thrilled that this years Giants have the ability to show some real flash. With minimal injuries 88-74
Barry Bonds, blackballed. Ohtani–whitewashed?
That’s yellow journalism!!!
More like LA confidential.
Very sorry to hear about Carson, Craig. One of the hardest things to do is make the call on a pet. Putting Jozie (our 15 year old black lab) down was one of the hardest things to do. She was just getting more and more pained by her arthritis and dysplasia. I didn’t even know you could to the euthanasia at home and instead just did it at the vet’s office.
Heartbreaking, as Jozie was excited to go on the car ride, and when she got out of the car, she couldn’t stay on her feet and cried in pain. She was scared when we got into the room but calmed down after the first shot. I sat with her for 20 minutes, and then the vet gave the 2nd shot. She went quietly.
She will forever live in my avatar though.
That’s tough, Chuck. Feel for Ya. It‘s coming up on 2 years we had to put down at 14 our Paddy, the Choco lab in my avatar. we always feted his b-day on St Patricks day, he was a pound rescue mutt. 90 lbs of energy and fun. He loved everybody, except little dogs if they gave him some shit. He didn’t tolerate that. Like Dusty used to say, Paddy didn’t start nothin’, but he wouldn’t take nothin’, either. Definitely still miss him big time. Hell, I still miss Ursa, our black German Shepherd, we had to put her down in Aug 2006 at 12 1/2. She was super smart, loyal, attentive, and a great companion and watch-sister for our young snarkettes as they were in their early years. She endured endless pets and attention and hugs from young hands and arms.
Slater is always hurt. Always. Criminy, how are you always hurt when you platoon? He’s not that good to make Matos wait to see if he’s for real…
Sorry for your loss of Carson Flavor it’s the hardest time ever having to put down an animal as they are FAMILY forever! Best to you and Katie during this difficult time.I have a 14 year old Chug(Meister)born in 2010who is a lucky charm winning 3W/S championships along with 3 Warriors Championship s, hoping he stays with me long enough for a 49er SB ring as well but either way I will be devastated when his time is over!Right now I just take him for walks (and when I grab the leash he still goes wild lol)are the local dog park and he’s still Stoked to see other dogs 🐕 as I chill on a bench with fellow (baseball/football/basketball including March madness updates)it’s always interesting..
Slater? Why is he still around? He’s a backup with no upside, and now with another injury already with a bum elbow he can’t even play in the field and they have the DH spot (Soler) covered, cut your losses and keep Matos on the roster full time!!
Ohtani is way too important to MLB for any investigation to find that he actually bet on baseball. Right now, the Doghairs and MLB appear to be in clam-up mode while they get the story straight. The translator looks to be the fall guy for whatever bad activity happened. Just like the NBA conveniently found that one, just ONE, “rogue” ref — Donaghy — was into fixing the games…
So who gave up 9 in the top of the 1st?
They were determined to have the Ace get his throwing in.
4.1 IP, 3 SOs, 1 BB. He must’ve settled down.
Melvin pulled him after seven batters in the first, then brought him back in the second.
I figured he was probably on a per inning pitch count. As long as there’s no arm trouble ….
Kleist relieved in the first and gave up a grand slam, which skewed ers. Webb got a lot of GBs after that, tho he served two solo HRs in the fifth . But he finished the inning. No reason to get excited.
I’m still saying this is going to be a fun team to watch this year. I’m going with 84 or 85 wins, not sure which yet.
Yeah, looks like a fun team (which of course will evolve during the season), these guys will score some runs. I was initially concerned about the starting pitching, but suddenly that’s looking ok too. Also tired of Slater but my prediction for 1st OFer to go is Conforto. That’s who Matos should replace. Yaz still plays an excellent RF.
Digging NCAAs so far. Advancing are 13, 14, 3 x 11 seeds and a 10. St. Mary’s plays tonight.
Pac 12 4-0 in last go round.
Oakland vs. Yale for the title!
From 2,500 miles away, I can hear my octogenarian lifelong KY fan uncles roaring for Calipari’s head.
They’re hardly alone. It was fun to watch Cats great passing attack vs. 1-3-1 zone create good looks inside. Young guys just got away from game plan I think. Exciting ballgame.
yeah I liked the kids on this team. Unselfish, never gassed. They scarcely fouled at all in the first half, hit their own FTs. The first five minutes were horrible by both teams.Calipari had one of his raw skinny seven foot freshman starting for rebounds but Oak’s incessant rain of outside bricks bounced the ball back outside to Oak players. Calipari should’ve started his full running group I think. But bad luck and cold shooting had a lot to do with it.
