A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Ass Handed To Us Again

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 3, 2024

Yeah, if our ace is going to pitch like that the outcome is pretty much guaranteed. At least my boy Soler joined the par-tay. The game to take from them was the bullpen game. This dude Bobby Miller is a beast. Harrison gonna need his A+ game tonight for us to have a chance of not getting swept back to San Francisco.

Mac’s comment “Feeble Bailey” was great. iirc (questionable) Beetle Bailey used to be at top of Sunday Chron comics, wonderful section. Chron in late 60s had one of my favorite comic strip drawings ever, “Odd Bodkins” by Dan O’Neill…super chicken, bat winged hamburger snatcher, et al.

Just one of those so near so far games. Webb didn’t have it/pen picked him up, Dogs pen shut them down after Giants rallied off soft tossing LHP. Roupp freezing Betts with called K curveball was awesome. Bailey taking 2 called third strikes, yikes.

looks like we get Glasnow not Miller. Also, a beast.

    Everyone’s a beast. To us!

We’ll see. I hope we are better than last year. It sure looks like it on paper. But if we can’t pitch we won’t win.

i think this team needs time to jell. Lots of new guys. And we started out on the road against the 2 toughest teams in our division. I’m not worried about a slow start.

Yeah, not too worried about a slow start either, as this team will be a work in progress in some ways for probably the first couple months. Yesterday’s game, Webb just never looked comfortable out there, kind of droopy body language. Noticed in highlights video before the start of the game, it showed Webb standing on the mound looking into his glove and shaking his head, wondered what that was about. No super concerns about this team except the nagging thought that maybe Bailey ain’t quite all that we thought he was when he first game up guns a-blazing….

Funny enough , saw write up on River Cats game yesterday, same day Giants traded away Bart the C for Sac hit 2 HRs including one that went 450 ft. Jakson Reetz, 3-5 2HRs and double. Sabol is there too of course.

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on April 3, 2024 at 6:40 pm

per MCC. Luciano 2-5 Wisely 3-4 2 doubles and triple

take a look at the 2018 draft. Few successes from the first two rounds.

The ass is in hand again.

  7. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:15 pm

So tired of the team opening on the road every freakin’ season. The Giants seem to always have to start the season digging out of a hole.

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:31 pm

if they’d opened at home this year the first two games could’ve been rained out.

      • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:36 pm

I don’t care. Starting on the road every season just sucks.

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:46 pm

Thursday was nasty off and on rain and Friday was windy, cold and seriously rainy. Great ro start the season like that.

      • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:56 pm

Again, I don’t care. So the Padres and Dodgers should start at home every season because they have nice weather? Screw them. Make them freeze in SF in the opening week for a change.

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on April 3, 2024 at 10:14 pm

Rain outs are the problem. Would’ve happened last week. Capice? Everyone loses game time by “freezing” off the field in hotels. Giants approach has worked. Iirc, only China basin rain out game on first deferred home stand of the season was in April 2018 vs the bums. Almost exactly six years ago. Wild storm. Came across that while researching something else.

      I’m so tired, I haven’t slept a wink
I’m so tired, my mind is on the blink
I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink?

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:50 pm

I haven’t got the strength to get up and take another shot and my best friend the doctor won’t even say what it is I’ve got

  8. willedav's avatar willedav said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:18 pm

Rojas hit 4 HRs at home all last season for LA, and 5 total in almost 400 ABs. That should not happen.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:34 pm

And he raised his fist going around the bases on the HR, like some of the Dodgers do, like they just hit a walk-off. That kind of thing would have gotten a player ear-holed in the previous eras..

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:37 pm

        who gives a fuck?

I’m with you Zumie fuck Larry Baer every Fucking year he pulls this shit and they’re 3-4 games out time they get back! And then the crap well we love finishing up at home in a pennant race is even more of a joke these days..

  10. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:38 pm

Geez without Bailey tonight Glasgow would be throwing a no-hitter..

  11. willedav's avatar willedav said, on April 3, 2024 at 8:43 pm

great ABs there , finally, off Glasnow

Agreed. Great routes and very smooth.

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:01 pm

yeah but it’s hard to gauge just how good he is via tv, everything looks so smooth. That play against the wall in lcf, more l than c, the other night required some serious speed. I may attend a few games mainly to watch him and Chapman live.

      • Locojuan's avatar Locojuan said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:14 pm

True. So far, I’m loving what I’m seeing on the tube, maybe I can make it up to DC this year to see em both live.

Kings had a nice victory over the Clippers yesterday. That was fun.

  14. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:11 pm

    The Rogers Bros suck.

  15. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:17 pm

On cue for the Giants they get within 1 but count get that extra big hit to take the lead and then Othani will a predictable HR off of Taylor Rodgers to stretch the lead back up 2, as they get their 9th straight game scoring atleast 5 runs..

    Digging Soler’s O.

  18. willedav's avatar willedav said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:20 pm

    Soler crushed that

Is that Kuip’s first misread of a flyout this season?

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:29 pm

Maybe the absurd stadium noise blocked out the crack of the bat for him. It wasn’t even close.

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:34 pm

I believe so Mac.That one might have been his alltime shriek of a not even warning track play…

  21. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:26 pm

Pedro Cerrano Soler has no problem crushing a fastball! 452 ft..

Just don’t throw him a curveball it makes Jobo unhappy..

    • Locojuan's avatar Locojuan said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:35 pm

So, you’re saying we need to get Soler a live chicken, a cigar and some rum?

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on April 3, 2024 at 9:36 pm

I think it was Jobu. And I think Cubanos come up learning dialectical reasoning along with their beisbol, not cartoon voodoo. They also have great national healthcare to keep them at their best.

I can remember when finishing April at .500 with everyone healthy and finally playing together well was ok. You were in it.
