We Get One
And with that win, we stave off a double digit number out of first place in the NL West. But honestly, going 3-3 against Cinn and LA is about the best we could have hoped for. Especially after losing JHL for the season.
What is a realistic goal at this point? .500? Sounds about right.
Sabol misses a throw to the plate. Jelly man backed up to save the run(s).
Jelly did well to get out of the 4th.
Snell 5 innings of shutout ball with 10 K’s last night encouraging expect him to be the rotation next start. He’s needed as Black is getting racked.Winn on DL but he wasn’t pitching good either, if Snell can get it going then at least they would have 4 reliable starters Webb,Harrison Hicks..
Yeah I’m with Willed assessment of Miller he’s got power stuff but so incredibly inconsistent lots of K’d but lots of walks 14 in 21 innings plus 3 bombs unacceptable.
I really like having 2 lefties in the BP as well in the starting rotation, but if Miller keeps struggling would it be a possibility after some more innings of work at Sac to add Carson Whisenhut (sp??) are Reggie Crawford ( who’s on the fast track now at AAA)for LH relief spot?Thoughts?
Reggie C just got promoted to Sac s few days ago (along w Hunter Bishop). Might let him try that level a while, but if later this summer the pens really ailing, why not bring him up for a test run?
Maybe BoMel is managing now like George Costanza.
Soler at leadoff is the exact opposite of what normal baseball managing rules and I assume even the vaunted “analytics” would suggest, but at this point, warum nicht?…
Matos!!!!
successor to Chili? Not impossible.
Sweet Lu!
wow what a start for Matos
And, helluva AB for Ramos.
Just play these two guys the rest of summer, let them work through league adjustments, and figure out how to play MLF outfield. Slater can go, Lee is unfortunately out for season. Don’t bring in some friggin’ retread OFer at the deadline to take time away for these guys to develop…
sounds good to me.
Matos and Ramos: the Dynamic Duo, wearing their super hero short pants.
MatRam or RaMat ?
yeah inside look: and Harrison’s pants aren’t quite high enough. He needs to make that adjustment.
that Luciano drive to RF reminded me of Buster.
Soler finally joins the party…
Los Caribes!
Melvin batting Soler lead-off was a nice show of respect, and faith in his player. That had to mean a lot to Soler.
Maybe it was saying you’re gonna get the maximum amount of PAs now so fucking do something.
Uncanny how a WP or PB burns the Giants every damn time.
I just think they want to get Soler more AB’s since the time he’s been out, and figure leadoff gives him more AB’s and fastballs Jobu likes 👍 I don’t see it permanent if he starts finally heating up they will move him down in the order.
Well, for a day maybe the George Costanza principle works. Right, there is no way he’s a leadoff hitter, neither is Yaz. — too much lack of contact. I don’t think they have one now that Lee is out. Maybe Thairo, but he’s suited for 2nd hole, IMO…
This has the looks of a game at Coors.
I don’t like Harrison’s follow through, it’s weird, awkward. Hope they are working on it. No way he can field much of anything the way he ends up. It also might lead to him getting pitches up.
Friggin’ Matos is En Fuego ! …
Slater who?
Later.
He’s a ribbie machine!
Isnt this fun, watching the kids finally? I also like Chapman’s play in the field on the bases and at the plate,
Yeah Harrison opens up his Arm Slot a Krukow special!
MATOS says I can rake anything right now!! 15 RBI’s in his first 6 games with a plate appearance the most of any Giants player in history! Damm 9RBI’s already in these first 2 Rockies game..
Takes me back to J Sanchez. Occasionally, he locked in. Harrison’s much more consistent. So far.
Man, I so want Matos to turn into a player. I’m tired of lamenting about the decades dearth of home-grown top notch OFers, and I’m sure you guys are tired of me saying it, too…
What a laugh fest. I hope this translates to the better NL teams. What snarkk said @ 1:24pm has to happen regardless of who comes back from injury or is added to the roster at the trade deadline. These guys have to get ABs.
Yeah, Blach is not the greatest hurler on the planet, so the SF offensive explosion probably has to be viewed with some realism…
Nevertheless, this gives them confidence where they will be better prepared for those better teams. Like you and others have said, I don’t really care to see the retreads and has beens anymore (looking at you – Slater and Yaz . . . in past years, Duggar, Bore core past their prime, et. al.).
oh man. Matos Matos Matos! Stay healthy, hombre.
Giants add to their MLB-leading CF crashes into the fence.
Matos doing it all now robs a HR!
Hope he’s ok, that BP 399 area fence is a death 💀 spot..
Raise it and pad it over. It’s the visitors pen.
It would be nice for Matos and Ramos to turn into a modern Maddox and Matthews…
That sure would be exciting Snarkk.I think I’ve mentioned besides Chili that 70’s short lived outfield of all home grown talent of Matthews LF,Maddox CF,Bonds RF was the best I was able to see at the Stick! And I would still put those 3 up against any other teams OF alltime..
Don;t forget Gary Thommason. The all-Gary outfield.
tuft of white dust rose. Lucky break.
Fucking Ty Rogers has to go. Sick of both of them.
What an awful play/throw by Rogers.
Rodgers brothers are maddening for sure Chuck. I’m sure they’re not wanted in your neighborhood are mine for that matter..
Ty Rogers, the most reliable arm in the bullpen. 23 appearances, scored on in 5 of them. Lifetime ERA OF 2.94. Perennial winner of the Sergio Romo award for completely undeserved disrespect.
Tyler Rogers is exactly the type of pitcher fans will admiringly shake their heads over in the future. Romo is a great comparison. Now, Taylor ….
Most reliable? Not this year. 67% of his inherited runners scored.
his whip’s 1.
He’s allowed 3 inherited runners to score per this site:
https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/stats/player/extended-pitching/nl/regular/all-pos/all/?sortcol=gp&sortdir=descending
After today, it’s now 23 appearances, which, if you scroll through the list of relievers by appearances, is a pretty low figure. I’m also not sure how 3 can be 67% of a total.
Hasn’t walked a guy all year last time I looked. Eno Sarris had column talking about importance of k rate minus bb rate. His is outstanding.
100% re Rogers
MATOS!!
6 RBI day!
MatRam strikes again ! …
And Ramos Fizz delivers a 2 run double the kids need to play everyday and send Slater packing..
Giants have 9 doubles today. Most in a game since 1912!
Wow, Giants took some pre-game hitting Viagra …
3 in a row!
It’s a miracle — 3 in a row!
Ass Kicking Win! 3 game winning streak!
Matos unbelievable Day,Chapman 4 hits, 14 runs on 18 hits with 9 doubles!!!
Guessing Matos has a great chance of being player of the week in NL..
Agree Kat
Matos 11 RBI in 2 games. MatRam, 5 hits, 8 RBI.
Chapman 4 hits. Yeah, it’s the Rockies, but hey, maybe it gets contagious.
Yeah, it was the Sherpas, but this kind of game can be infectious (particularly because it was led by our new arrivals from Sac). No doubt Zaidi and the other imbeciles in the front office took a break from the Facebook “housewives fan club” and visited the Flap to determine what all the complaining was about . . .
Prat couldn’t quite get there.
Fun game, day off coming again Monday. Snell should be back for road trip.
When Luis Matos is compared to “ High Pockets Kelly”( one of the greatest nicknames ever!) and a HOF player what can go wrong during this phenomenal streak!
Kiddy attack of Matos,Ramos, and Luciano were 7-14 today with 9RBI’s!!
Soler leadoff why not it seems to be working and he had 3 hits so don’t change anything right now! Nice line for Chapman 4-4 a walk 4 runs scored a double. one of 9 doubles crazy!
Are you on with Laskey now?
Wow, missed the game but just watched the highlights. Matos and the Giants are on fire. I am so happy for the whole organization. We may just have something here.
Slater may soon have something in common with Wally Pipp…
Don’t want to over-react to a couple of games, but it’s fun to recall June 2010 when Buster and MadBum came up for good and changed the course of the team for years. Just as much fun to watch Matos Ramos and now Luciano and wonder….
