Infusion Of Youth
I saw almost none of these 3 games with the Rockies, caught some of Sunday’s game on the radio. The box scores look real real nice. Tempered, as this was Colorado who is bad, but this weekend seemed to be a positive indictment of the youngsters. It will be very interesting to see what Farhan does with all the old-heads when they return from all of their injuries……
this road trip to Pitt and NY maybe will be a better take on all the young dudes. But at least a big spark this weekend and Chapman showing signs of life.

Free baseball game at Orace today–AAA SF public HS championship Lincoln vs. Lowell, coached by Daryl Semien, uncle to Rangers Marcus Semien. Lowell has won 8 of last 9 league titles per Mitch Stephens in SF Chron.
Great Baggs column in TA on Luciano w quotes from Estrada about how much they communicate and all the help he gives to him, on every pitch when they are in the field.

seemed different in real time
Giants need to stay with their youth for the season so we can ascertain their real level of development. Hate to see snell or Chapman staying for another year. Winn in particular has to develop into a legitimate 4th or 5th starter if he will continue to be part of the rotation. I believe that Ramos andMatos are for real but I am not sure about Luciano.
Go Giants
yeah, let’s definately dump a 2x Cy Young winner for a near rookie with arm trouble for the second season in a row.
Willie, Yeah I would think with 2 veteran players like Estrada &Wilmet giving solid advice to Luciano,Matos,Ramos who only got little time up here especially Luciano can only help in their development both in batting and fielding.Luciano even more since he’s an infielder along with Estrada &Wilmet, since they usually hangout in the dugout a lot.
Yeah I thought this was awesome. Estrada said he talks to him every pitch, especially with runners on. Estrada has the pitch com connection w him so he knows what’s coming, didn’t know that either.
I think the really good teams have a mix of vets and the young dudes playing.
So many had written off Edgar Renteria and yet…
I see they sent Fitz back to the River Cats, was there a move to the active roster to take his place?
Could be for the OF they got from Orioles, who is out of options I believe.
Ryan McKenna.
Thanks Willie, that would make some short-term sense.
#3 Giants prospect Bryce Eldridge starting to heat up for San Jose (A ball) with a 2rbi single then a Grandslam later for 6 RBI day( 5 HR’s 807 OPS in a sweep of the Modesto Nuts. Funny he was drafted as a 2 way player Pitcher/1B/RF along with Reggie Crawford Pitcher/Outfield but now those plans seem to be scratched as Eldridge is hitting only&Crawford pitching only,Eldridge still only 19 but at 6’7 has to be a 1B in the future?
Also playing for San Jose: The guy they traded Stripling to the A’s for is batting 349/451/415 with 24 steals in 25 attempts.

Cox? If his BABIP isn’t elevated he is a legit prospect with those numbers. Keep it up kid!
Two way players? What a marketing stunt by FZ. Lol
“Xander Bogaerts has left game with what appears to be shoulder injury” per Padres beat reporter Kevin Acee. Pads knocked off Braves again today. X as they call him is hitting .219 w .584 OPS. per B/R signed through 2033 11 years $280 mil. 31 years old. yikes
Machado isn’t doing much better 620 OPS.
Donovan Solano (1101) is picking up the slack
Yah I was telling my godson Padres fan how much Giants fans enjoyed having Donny Barrels around. Coming into today he’s 6-13 with 1 double 2 BBs 1 K at age 36.
It’s interesting the Giants right now have a 25 man roster so maybe McKenna gets a call for more outfield depth.Plus Snell coming back this week so that’s 2 moves and they seriously don’t need 14 pitchers on the Staff, so my guess Avila will get the bus ride back to Sac…
Yogi..Nice stats on Jonah Cox at San Jose 24 steals in 25 attempts and hitting.349 with high OBP plays nicely.I’ll take that trade Stripling for Cox any day..
yes, the road trip will be a real test, but didn’t the Giants score way more in SF than when they played in CO?
Yeah, but that was the old Giants team. They had 13 runs till the white-flag game. Ahmed, (S)Later and Reetz.
my point exactly unca_chuck!
The hope is 4-6 from the Pirates and the Mets. Neither are especially fantastic, but neither are we. The pitching is rounding out, so if we can keep that up and stop with the careless shit, 4-6 should be doable.
Clark’s Indy team is about to play Connecticut on ESPN. (Conn. has a WNBA team. Who knew?)
Went to a Sacto Monarchs game with my daughters years ago. The amount of flannel in the stands was astounding. The men’s bathrooms were pretty much empty.
I think the WNBA didn’t market itself well in those days. They should have really marketed to fathers to bring their daughters.
Some of the turnovers she had in her last game were actually great passes that her less-talented teammates couldn’t handle.
I was impressed with her competitive fire. She’s like Curry in that she gets physically roughed up by the other team, but never stops competing fiercely.
The WNBA orange and white ball has grown on me. It’s kind of fun seeing the rotation on the shots.
The chance that the WNBA has to grow its following a bit is that some people are getting kind of bored with the NBA. The NBA style of play has a sameness from team to team.
What the WNBA didn’t need was some of the veteran players on other teams getting jealously snippy about Clark. She’s brought a lot more interest in the league and they should just be grateful for it.
And then….Clark goes down with an ankle injury. The WNBA didn’t need that either.
The Indiana crowd is about 17,000. That’s impressive.
Good ballgame too. Clark hit some shots and made nice passes in 4th. The competition is fierce, by far best women in world. USA blows away field at Olympics.
Yeah, that’s an interesting situation. I guess the WNBA season will pause during the Olympics.
Great game; tied score in the last minute. Indy loses, but has showed improvement.
There’s a lot of post play in the WNBA; I miss that in the NBA. In the WNBA it’s not just tons of 3-point shots like the NBA.
DBax tried opener at Latrine. Pen guy Mantiply started and went one inning. Cecchoni gave up 3 HRs in 3rd including grand slam from Freeman and another bomb to next batter Will smith.
6-1 Dodgers after 5, behind Yamamoto.
