Lame Loss
Friday night they got smoked, no doubt about it. But they really should have won that game yesterday. I’d love to know where they rank as a team with situational hitting. To the naked eye, they are atrocious. Matos hit another bomb last night. At least we have Slater’s bloop singles to comfort us.
Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there. I couldn’t imagine taking on so much responsibility. You guys deserve a ton of credit…
Have you reminded my son and daughter to call me yet?
Downtown Oakland one day I passed a young man shouting into his cell phone: “You named my baby what?”
Paul DeJong numbers, vs. last year w SF (9-49), really are amazing. Hasn’t helped ChiSox much but at least they beat DBax last night as he hit HR #14.
Look at what Joc is doing for DBax. Slugging is up 100 points and OPS is .891. He even has 4 SBs. No way I wanted him back but compared to what Giants getting out of DH spot… He’s only 32-why does it seem like that’s off by 5-10 years?
I could say the same thing about Wilbur Flores being 32?
lulz, Kat
Winn said afterwards that he felt pretty good, and he was getting swings and misses on split. Previous 4 starts he was getting whacked around. cursory look on B/R for OBP and slugging against are way up (and line drive avg.) and he’s walking more guys this year than last (3.2 vs. 1.7) so WHIP has risen from 1.04 to 1.34.
What about strand rate, LOB? is he worse out of stretch, making poor pitches in high leverage spots? Line sure looked a lot better after 5 than after 6.
Matos homered twice last night and stole a bag. Fitz had inside park HR and Ismael Munguia and D Walton also homered but Cats lost 7-6. Luciano 0-4 with 4 Ks yikes. Night before Mason Black gave up 3 HRs in second inning and 6 runs total in1.1 innings at Reno.
Portnoy is a huge CC fan, almost weirdly so. Here he is this morning doing a slow burn about CC getting pushed around.

Her own teammates don’t have her back.
What’s up with that?
IDK — is there a Euro Women’s League, one that doesn’t go into Russia? If so, I’m guessing she’d get a better reception by players in Euro. Who’s running this WNBA — whoever it is should be fired, and get somebody in there that runs it on the proposition you don’t S on the Golden Goose…
yeah I don’t get it. The league is just letting other players fuck with her and no one is doing anything. Not even her own teammates. It’s like she’s Jackie Robinson out there breaking the color barrier or some shit. Don’t those dummies understand that with CC thriving in the league they all thrive? Do they not like money or something? lol
She played well today, better job of not hunting stupid contested shots and moving ball around. She’s great in transition when there is more time and space to do things. Worked PNR well with Aliyah Boston, who took it to Cardoso today. These 2 teams combined 8-18 coming in. W is a W.
No Harrison ? Dang IL with ankle sprain.
I guess they won’t have to worry about his innings totals for a while longer.
when did Dirty Harry get hurt? This team has spent most of the time getting in their own way. This team needs to get mew trainers. It’s fucking baseball.
I firmly believe that most of these injuries didn’t exist before the invention of the MRI…
Angel Reese is not seeing the big picture here

Alonso with 3 run HR, #15. Mets up 7-2, all off Dylan Cease.
Only team in NL West that won yesterday was Rockies.
Reggie Crawford’s on the IL in Sac. Hope he hasn’t blown out the TJ elbow he was healing when the Giants selected him in the first round 2022. His WHIP and ERA were both about 1 in 8 relief innings. May be a quick exit.
What are those clanking sounds at the park today?.
Jesus. Gonna get swept at home by the hapless angels
SF must not get swept by one of the worst in MLB, at home. That would be a complete embarrassment and a look in the mirror moment for this organization. I don’t care who is out. Angels flat out have sucked all season…
Wisely with rocket off LHP.
If he’d rocketed home he’d’ve made it. Instead he kept looking behind at the lumbering 3Bman chasing him.
Giants must lead MLB in not scoring a guy from 2nd on base hits to the outfield. Then, Wisely wanders too far off 3rd and gets tagged out for the fielder’s choice…
Giants are so lame scoring RISP with no outs or 1 out. They are very adept at finding various ways to fail to score. Maybe some team(s) is worse, but if so, it’s hard to believe. I think the absolute lack of team speed on the bases hurts their ability to score, big time, plus just bad base running ability …
Passed ball sets up a run.
Bad baserunning.
Giants already checking their usual boxes.
Bivens with nice outing. 4 Ks 3 ground balls. keeps ball down for most part. Only gave up the 1 hit, that left the yard, in 3 innings. iirc he had streak of 19 scoreless innings in Coast League before being called up.
After his first excellent SO he seemed to relax and he grooved a FB for the solo HR. Then he was back to work around the corners with good movement. Gawd knows we need a pitcher.
OK, SF with bags loaded, no outs.
They have to score at least one here, right?…
oh boy. The elusive hit
hey now
Yeah, Estrada.
There we go Thairo
finally
Wow, two bigs hits!
And 2. Leave Wisely in there at top, pls.
and now Mr. Wisely.
Scoring with RISP and no outs, whatta concept.
Thairo finally turns on one! Low breaking ball, so it wasn’t a high drive, but it looked good and scored two runs. If he’s heating up watch for a HR into the LF bleachers next AB.
How ’bout one at Wrigley coming up?
Wisely needs to improve his baserunning.
Otherwise, I don’t see a reason to put Ahmed in there against LHPs. Wisely is mashing both lefties and righties, and his D has been good enough at SS. Put Ahmed in only for late inning D purposes…
Soler should be deadly in this kind of AB. Scoring pressure is off…
Yep, there it is. Gone, 3 run dinger.
Soler must be wound tighter than a golf ball. He needs to relax and just swing at strikes.
Finally!! Soler baby!
Gotta feel good.
Soler gettin some payback.
fucking strychnine deserved that. So did we!
when he hits ‘em he hits ‘em.
Angels be angels-ing.
Until this weekend, I didn’t know Strickland was still in the league.
Looks like he hasn’t changed — stil throwing gopher balls…
Slater with a hit and RBI? I mean, Slater with a hit and RBI!
Longs they leave Ramos in CF, I’ll be pleased to see Slater do well. Well as well as he can.
9 is fine!
garbage pail Jackson
Austin Slater with a tater.
Wow Slater bomb off RHP.
Slater tater!
If Soler keeps hitting the ball like that…
Soler and Slater both suddenly alive.
Giants have to wrap this up. They’ll be taking BP in Chicago 24 hrs from now.
What a disappointing finish for McIlroy at the US Open. DeChambeau wins, Flav won’t be happy.
Botard fence posting again
just leave your closer out there to throw 40 pitches moron .
Lordy, Doval can’t finish a 13-2 lead.
he shouldn’t be out there in the first place
Yeah, even a position player — a favorite Kap move with a big lead — wouldn’t have done worse.
and gee if tomorrows game is 2-1 in the 9th who closes?
Plenty of other options for tomorrow. Tyler Rogers threw 16 pitches in his 1 inning, Walker 9 getting 2 Ks. Doval hadn’t pitched in 4 days, since June 12 vs. Stros when he faced 3 batters and threw 9 pitches.
Hjelle only threw 10 pitches himself in his inning.
At this stage, I’d say all 3 of the above more effective than Doval is.
right
Rogers last attempt went so well.
maybe Doval took his first night flight ambien when the Giants went up by ten.
Yay! Still a bummer of a series, but no sweep.
Betts with a busted up wrist/hand has to slow the billion $ Dodgers down.
We’ve lulled the division into thinking we suck, now is the time to make our move.
they,ve lulled millions of fans as well.
lulz
See, the plan is working.
lol
mlb.com in box score says 41 thou there today. Padres got swept by Mets (11-6 today) and have lost 7 straight road games. Next stop–Philly.
Not a good Father’s Day for the Padres.
Since no one else has acknowledged your post Mac, I’ll say that my many years of Duolingo practice has me appreciating your comment.
waa a good one. Check of weekend stats shows Giants held Pillar to 1-11.
Sitting with my cocktail on the deck when I saw the Betts news, and loudly proclaimed my happiness, then realized my Dodgers front office next door neighbor was out with his toddler and infant, right across the fence. I resented having to feel ashamed.
