Hayden Birdsong is being promoted and that is weird wild stuff. This guy was just some rando they drafted in the 6th round back in 2022 from Eastern Illinois University. I did look it up and Kevin Seitzer is the only MLB player I’ve ever heard of who went to this school. For him to make it to The Show in 2 years with that shitty resume shows the Giants just might have something exciting here. Supposedly throws near 100. Let’s fucking go!

That’s a quick video of the downward bite on his slider per Brissbee in the Athletic. When he was drafter 2 years ago he threw 92. Only starter in AAA to hit 99 this year. yay

I’m retired and sold back my part of ownership in my PT practice. I’ll likely do some part time work after 2-3 months off. Kids are grown and gone and the wifey has 3 more years of work till she retires…
A luxury of being a physical therapist is there is lots of per diem work if I want covering vacations sick days etc. I can work when I want but pass if I don’t.

Good luck to Birdsong tonight. Last outing 91 pitches in 5 innings for Sac. Black is also up, but hasn’t been doing too well in Sac either so see what happens. Nice to see well pitched ballgame last night. Dogs in town for weekend before Giants get day off Monday.

Giants pushing a guy to start who has had 2 starts at AAA. I generally like something like this, since it is so rare with this organization. And, I like it. But, it’s mostly for the wrong reason — desperation. Hopefully, it works out anyway and they find gold…

Highest level for Birdsong last season with 3 teams was Richmond AA-he started 8 games there went total of 23 innings and walked 13 guys. Overall he walked 44 guys in 100 innings.
This season 13 starts btw AA and AAA 57 innings 26 BBs/75 Ks. In his 2 starts in Sac he walked 6 guys in 9 innings. Good luck to him but walks will drive up pitch count in hurry if he lacks command. And obviously, fewer guys you let on base/fewer guys stealing bags against you.
Speaking of Sac, RCs were in Vegas last night and got hammered 11-0. Whisenhunt only lasted 2 innings gave up 5 hits 3 BBs and HR, 5 runs/4 earned. Wade Jr. did start at 1b and was in there long enough to get 3 ABs. Weather listed as 102 and clear.

One of last live NBA games I saw was GS hosting Nets and J Kidd at Oakland Coliseum early 2000s. He was still with Joumana then. Remember her and young son walking down to their seats and boy was wearing #5 jersey. Warriors blew them out iirc.

yeah, we saw Dawkins at coliseum. Rod Higgins was on 84-85 Nets, so was Michael Ray Richardson. He wrote interesting (as you can imagine) auto-bio, I think called “Sugar” that features some wild stories from his um substance abuse days that included partying away in hotel and away from team that didn’t know where he was for few days and missing games. iirc he wound up playing over in Europe til he was like 40.

Birdsong is the right move over Whisenhunt who’s clearly not ready and getting hammered sadly with Rivercats 2-5 record walks way to many and has given up 10 HR’s with a very high WHIP.. Giants I believe feel Birdsong is their best option for now showing better overall stuff.
We shall see how the Bird Man from Alcatraz can handle the pressure but his stats are far superior than any of this useless chumps they tried..Jeffries White,Black,Winn and don’t even think about Teng Tang coming up cause he sucks as well(Black hopefully sent down today to make room for Birdsong and cut Jackson for a roster spot when Wade’s ready Friday though since they were dumb enough to give Useless Jackson a guaranteed 2 year deal last season it probably won’t happen)
