A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Bats!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 16, 2024

Pleasantly surprised to see us draft all these bats. I have been saying it for a decade, draft hitters, sign pitchers. My stance has softened a little on that because I don’t understand how modern day starting pitchers are even built anymore much less when you should draft them. But hitters? No self respecting free agent hitter wants to hit in the stupid dimensions of our park. And those that do probably have wives who are afraid of the SF streets. And the rare few that are left from those 2 qualifications probably have agents that talk them out of signing with us because of CA taxes.

So draft those fuckers and force them to play for us lol.

I didn’t see a single second of the Bomb Contest and I’m content with that decision.

Eldridge moving right along from low A to high A Eugene. Giants drafted guy from San Diego in 5th round Jakob Christian. Went to HS there and played for USD Toreros in WCC. Also drafted guy from Santa Clara program.

Hopefully Ramos and Webb get in game tonight. Shame they don’t get to wear SF unis like back in the day.

Looking forward to Del Mar! anything on FDTV/NYRA impasse? FD said they already pay into it, NY says not enough from what I read. Thoughts?

i have an account at both tvg and NYRA so I don’t really care but it is so stupid that they’re arguing over pennies

Joe Bryant, Kobe’s Dad and former NBA player, died at age 69. Philly guy whose career didn’t pan out in NBA, went overseas where Kobe and sisters were raised before they all returned back to States and Philly area.

Read an interesting book about Kobe that ends just as he made his decision to turn pro out of high school, which burned local colleges like LaSalle, who had hired his Dad to be assistant coach, and St. Joe’s who had allowed Kobe access to gym to train and workout/scrimmage with Sixers.

Just saw story about 1965 All Star game played in old Metropolitan Stadium Minneapolis and won by NL 6-5. Mays homered to lead off game and scored winning run in 8th driven in by Ron Santo. 3 1 hit scoreless innings for starter Juan Marichal, Gibson finished with 2 shutout innings striking out Joe Pepitone to end it. total game time 2:45.

I think that was the game Mays wore Ernie Banks batting helmet cause he forgot or lost his own…

Clemente (LF) Billy Williams (PH) and Frank Robinson (PH) all came in off bench. As did Ron Santo at 3b for Dick Allen. Joe Torre caught whole game.

God almighty those are the ugliest jerseys ever Freaking Manfred taking a lot of shit by fans / probably players !They HAVE to switch back to players representing their teams next year with the classic look that always defined the team and the player wearing them..The NL team colors are much better, black and blue ( maybe a Marlins road uni look?)than the putrid AL weird colors of salmon and quicksand.Just butt ugly how Nike screwed up the A/S.How do fans connect when they can’t tell who to root for?

The singer of the anthem at the HR Derby released a statement today saying that she was drunk when she sang it, and she’s sorry about that. And she’s going to check herself into a rehab place for her drinking issues.
    What the …..

Never understood this: what’s rationale for hesitation move by pitcher?

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 16, 2024 at 7:07 pm

They’re trying to mess up the timing of the hitter, but it’s probably overrated.

Not a stellar night for the Giants’ All Stars.

AL has way to many pitchers that throw 100 mph gas then NL that was the difference.
Duran easily should win MVP on his HR to take the lead for good! And it’s official he crushed that bomb 💣

A’s closer Mason Miller gets the win and he was dominant with 2K’s including Ohtani in his 1 inning.. Good for him, he’s special..

Webb 1 inning 3 runs and a walk ERA 27.00 and a blown save..

Ramos a strike out yep ugly night for the Giants..

The Chicago Sky, which starts two rookies, defeated the Las Vegas Aces, which has four members of the Olympic team, 1/3 of the Olympic team.

Reese, of course, is one of the Sky rookies. This weekend Reese and Indy’s Clark get to team up in an exhibition game vs. the women’s Olympic team. Should be an entertaining game.
