Rockin’ Robbie Ray
Well, that’ll do for sure, right? What a wonderful surprise, trade for someone and they actually perform. I had almost forgotten what that feeling is like. If our starting pitching comes together…..there’s still time.

Ray came from M’s for DeSclafani and Haniger. DeSclafani is on Twins now and Haniger slash line .206/.284/.351. 300 PAs he had 8 HRs and 87 Ks. Lot of cash back and forth in this deal but Ray clearly best player.
I did not think he would get out of the first so that is a plus…today is a winnable game so a split is good with me and best we could have expected…
It wouldn’t of taken much to win that deal-Willie.
Haniger and Disco both broken down players with no upside.Atleast with Ray new bionic arm after 482 days on the sidelines is paying off.I’m beginning to like TJ surgeries ( we can rebuild him)He was wild in that 1st inning I was cringing as much as poor Casali was in that 1st 33 dreadful pitches but yet with 2 HBP,2 Walks ( 2nd with the sacks full) he escaped and pitched real solid. What do they say get a pitcher early before he starts to find a rhythm, that was Ray to a tee last night.
Ha yeah Kat after first he dominated and left with no no.
Sounds like the fantasy of a playoff run with a suddenly solid (maybe) rotation is about to begin. The TD is just a few days away. I guess we’ll find out what management thinks about that…
Even for Doval, let alone Conforto and other vets, I don’t think they’d get much of value back or anyone to be of immediate help any more than prospects in Sac they already have.
I think James 9:45 is accurate. They’re already running lot of younger guys (Fitz Wisely Ramos Bailey Hill last night) out there. I wouldn’t let go young controllable pitching especially given health and opt out issues. Wish there was solution for Soler but dunno what that is.
If the Giants pitch like the Phillies for the remaining 59 games and the offense continues at its season long pace, they project to win 81-85 games. That’s being pretty optimistic about the pitching and still likely doesn’t get you into WC. They’d need even better pitching or a sustained uptick on offense. I think Zaidi will try to position the team for better things next year. He’ll leave a major restocking of the farm system to any successor.
Bryan Murphy says Flores to 10 day IL, Villar up. As he put it maybe rested Flores can regain what he did end of last season…alternative being probably non tendered I guess.
End of the line for Wilmer to many injuries, bat is non-existent, we all love Mr.Ed But Villar splitting time with Wade at 1st base is the best possible option.
Lots of players need to be moved including Cobb, with Hicks moving to the pen it makes sense to keep Birdsong in the rotation.Webb,Snell,Harrison,Ray&Birdsong down the stretch looks solid imo..
What’s frustrating is what can they really get but maybe a mid level prospect are lower just to restock the farm more at best if they move on from Estrada,Yaz, Cobb, Jackson, Conforto, even Wade due to his age and injury history is not in their future though they need a LH 1st baseman not named Trenton Brooks..
I know it won’t happen but I would love the Giants to get bold and bring up Bryce Eldridge he’s their future 1st baseman anyway get his feet wet..
Mr. Ed has a $3.5M player option (no buyout) for 2025. In fact, a number of vets are locked in for the next couple of years and highly unlikely to opt out I would think…
San Francisco Giants | Cot’s Baseball Contracts (baseballprospectus.com)
Del Mar in action today. First race has #6 Granada Flavor trained by Steve Knapp/ridden by Abel Cedillo. Going mile on dirt 3yr olds $8K claiming. Kent Desormeaux has mount in that race #5 Zimba Warrior.
Opie’s 4 seamer is 90-91. Get one early good idea to take whack if it’s in zone. Usually don’t get much else to hit.
Quick work of Bailey. Took one borderline strike, swung at 2 others out of zone. Much respect for Op. He knows what he’s doing as Kruk said even if stuff isn’t the same. ask Belt and Crawford.
Kuiper is right, Freeman’s only hit last night was one not caught. In fact that was only hit out of Ohtani Smith Freeman and Teoscar, great job by Giants pitchers. Barnes for Smith today, Webb’s gotta have it.
Next up after they leave LA: Rox for 4 at home. A’s at home for 2 with days off before and after. Road trip 3 each at Reds and Nats, 2 more teams with records about even with Giants.
Bad Lux, (that’s what you got, that’s what you got)…
Yeah! Fitz roped hanging slider Chapman and Ramos first pitch fastballs at 91. Gotta take advantage of mistakes.
chance to do damage to Kershaw and Villar has to do something.
Bailey and Villar come up empty. Ponch has t o come through.
Damm Bailey&Villar rally killers along with Estrada all strike out!
Well they got the lead, and Opie up to 56 pitches but could of got more..
Ball 4. fuck.
The elusive shut down inning is the hope.
Hey now.
Game Webb needs to win for his confidence level.
He’s said I need to be better, prove it Ace, shutdown these Dogpile!
So I see Soler tucked in his elephant pocket finally.
Seems to be working better, a hit,a walk, a run scored keep it tucked in ..
Sigh.
Bottom of order burning Webb again second time through.
I swear, I’m hitting guys for the stupid wiggly guy dance.
Wiggle away from this, asshole.
Yaz poorly positioned for the derby champ. Is Wotus still with the team?
Loo..Yeah Wotus is still around as a special assistant for this special handicap team..
Thanks Kat. I thought he was good at positioning the defense in the past I guess…
You read my mind. So fuckin lame and annoying. Ya think McCovey would ever do that?
Webb has gone from ace to No. 4 starter.
Gawd I can’t stand this. We swing at more shit than a cracked out plumber.
Sometimes Kuiper’s frustration with all the strike outs comes through.
Is the Estrada era about over? He walks and runs like Ron Cey but doesn’t hit as well as Cey.
as San Dawg and I discussed, we got the absolute BEST we were ever gonna get out of Wilmet and Estrada. It’s over. No use trying to get that back, they peaked and this is the decline.
Webb is nothing special lately. Maybe his arm is sore.
Worried about Webby. This doesn’t seem like the same guy.
May have a dead arm and need a rest. Someone here suggested a 10 day vacation the other day. I don’t think he needs to prove that he can pitch 200 innings in this era…
This team sucks when they get runners on and go it strike out mode.Villar already 3 strike outs , he’s way to far off the plate to reach outside pitches and gets locked up..
Yeah MacDog,Webb is sliding down the rotation for sure. Not sure what his overall record against Dogpile is but it can’t be good..
Strike outs R Us.
So many Giants I want off this team starting with Farhan who only adds dumpster players nobody else want and now stuck with washed up players on the roster that nobody wants either..
There’s no baseball at the Olympics, but there is break-dancing this time.
The Olympics only lasts about 2 1/2 weeks. It seems longer than that.
Takes Luke Jackson to get bottom of the order out. sometimes baseball just doesn’t make sense.
How about Ahmed playing for the Dodgers now.
Actually good move. Their IF beside Freeman (and Betts out hurt) sucks. Frustrating that Webb can’t get E Hernandez and Lux out, nor Austin Barnes.
A run!!!
Fuck. Soler. Mr. K.
WHAAAAAAAAT?
Hey, Soler ties it!
Conforto and Soler come through after Villar double, tie game
Ray and Snell are pitching their way to big paydays.
From someone else.
I was expecting a K also Unca but it’s all about the elephant pocket tucked in today!
Yeah baseball is crazy, like Willie mentioned Jackson strikes out the side then Soler finally comes through and ties it up go figure
Maybe a little manager arrogance from Roberts, using his usual 8th inning and 9th inning guys in the 6th and 7th today.
Of course
Un-fucking-real.
Of course # 2
Well, 1 out of 4 ain’t good.
I think Webb’s problem is little north of his arm. whatever he thinks he can do with his pitches, command is not happening. Too predictable and not fooling guys any longer with change or sinker. Twice he tried to pitch E Hernandez away and both times left pitch up enough for him to whack it. It didn’t work first time, and he did it again with same results. Like Hernandez knew what was coming.
Taylor R. serving up his magic.
That was Tyler.
Thanks. I should know which is which by now.
His foot is off the bag.
Thank God for replay.
What a weirdly lifeless team. It’s like watching a ghost team going through the motions.
Well the roster turnover year to year is about 70%. Hard to build a cohesive team with so many interchangeable parts.
E Hernandez came into game batting .193 w OPS in .600 range. Rest of league hasn’t had any trouble getting him out for last 4 months. Webb faced 26 batters and 12 got on base. Same thing happened last start, 12 baserunners vs. 27 batters.
He’s not getting hit harder and giving up bombs, just more often as BA against is up to .270 from .248 last year. Last time he faced Dogs he beat them here and only allowed 5 hits 2 runs in 7. FIP (2.94) says he’s unlucky this year…but that’s 3 bad starts in a row, very un Ace like.
