A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

One In A Row

Gotta pop into Reno for a couple of days. Rib cook off later today. We beat the Marlins last night.

Sink Or Swim?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 30, 2024

It appears the answer is to sink, gents. Tough year.

Another Loss

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 29, 2024

Six and half games out of the final wild card spot. Is it white flag time gents? Are we really not going to get meaningful games in September?

Brew Town Victory

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 28, 2024

I’ll be honest, I had never heard of McCray before he got called up. I don’t really follow our prospects though. Did Farhan just wake up one day and look at the slow and weak team he built and say “Ok time to throw the McCray dart”? Remember, we only got Ramos because Slater got hurt and Fitzgerald got a shot because Ahmed got hurt right? Or was that cause Luciano couldn’t field? I can’t remember.

Milwaukee

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 27, 2024

They’re pretty good. But it’s baseball and I could totally see us wasting the Brewers because that’s the exact opposite of what everyone thinks is gonna happen.

Fake Worry

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 26, 2024

The Giants flagshit NFBCsportsBA had a tweet yesterday about this *ominous* MRI for Ray and I thought “oh shit” he’s blown out his arm. And then you read the article and it’s just a tender hammy. LOL. Who cares? He’ll be fine next year and hopefully he is able to solidify a spot in the rotation. The tweet suggested that our playoff chances are somehow ruined to which is said “Playoffs? PLAYOFFS!!! PLAYOFFS? Are you kidding?”

Seattle Snarkk

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 25, 2024

Amidst all the hoopla of the Travers I missed it that Snarkk was at this game. Got a pic to share my man? Thorpedo Anna ran her heart out. What a race. What a race horse.

Ray Ray for a little revenge revenge today. Let’s go!

Gross Loss

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 24, 2024

That old saying about baseball being 162 long games and baseball fans spending most of those 162 being totally pissed off all the time….yeah. It’s games like last nights that remind me of that saying.

Pacific Northwest

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 23, 2024

Seattle tonight. Birddog in a good spot. That team strikes out a lot. No reason to expect anything less than a solid start from him.

Tough One

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 22, 2024

Day game so I missed all of this. Did BoMel disclose in the post game why he yanked Webb at 93? Or why he brought in Bel Biv DeVoe in such a high leverage situation? “that girl is poison”

Beating The Chumps We Need To Beat

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 21, 2024

Nice Ray start. I don’t care if it’s the White Sox. I’m a big Ray supporter mostly because I am cutting him a ton of slack for the rust he was bound to have after being off for so long. And hopefully he doesn’t opt out because I think he’s going to have a big year next year.

Here’s a wild stat for you: The NL West is a combined 40 games over .500 since the all star break 94-54 (.635). No other division even has a winning record over that span.

Also, a BIG happy birthday to a true Flap Hall of Famer……WillieD. Have a great day, my man.

To Extend Or Not To Extend

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 20, 2024

Matt Chapman, the first Giants 3rd baseman since the great Freddy Lindstrom to bang 20 bombs, 30 doubles and 10 steals in a season. Who’s up for a Chappy extension? Aye? Nay? I don’t know man, I love this guy and was supportive of him all year even during his slump but I don’t see the point in giving him 150 million dollars. He’s 31, he’s only gonna get worse from here. I would reluctantly vote no on an extension but I’m not gonna blow my brains out if we give him one either.

Salvaged Split

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 19, 2024

Exciting win. I know it made my dad happy who I spoke with after the game. I was most excited about Josh Dobbs who looked like a more than capable back up to Purdy (who looked awful btw). Niners need Trent Williams in camp like yesterday.

The Worst Loss Of The Year

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 18, 2024

Pathetic. Utter embarrassment. Woeful inadequacy. Pitiful. Borderline contemptible…..

Yesterday, I did not care for the cut for their jib.

Birddog Time

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 17, 2024

No Friday game for some reason. Now on to Oakland where Birddog either finds it or remains lost.

Day Win

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 16, 2024

6-0. When do the Niners start for real.

Taking A Break

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 15, 2024

I’ll keep putting up threads for you guys but I am tappin’ out on this season. My interest level is at an all time low anyway. And at some point you have to ask yourself, “why am I wasting my time on this?”

Tough Ones

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 14, 2024

Frustrating doesn’t even begin to cover my feelings about the last 3 games. All winnable, all losses. Bad time in the season for these type of bad penny games. Ray tonight. But who will hit?

Wasted Gem

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 13, 2024

Yes we are going to get shut out from time to time. That was the wrong time for it though. Can’t keep ending up on the losing end of these type of game much longer. Atlanta has their sea legs now, we are going to have to start hitting the fucking ball or this season is going to go south quickly. We’ve now wasted 2 absolute gems by Snell recently that turned into losses because we suck at hitting.

Staggering Into September

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 12, 2024

7-3. Well, the dream is dead. Sort of. Maybe it has always been dead. We are all-out to beat the shittiest teams in the league. At least we get Atlanta coming out of Nepal which should slow their bats down a little, at least for the first game. Looking forward to Soler flailing at pitches.

A September to Remember?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 11, 2024

I expect Birddog to shut down the woeful Tigers offense now that he’s back in the comfort of Karl the Fog and 60 degree weather. After today’s victory we will be knocking on the door of the 3rd and final wild card spot. With 42 games to play, destiny is in our hands, gents.

Finding A Way

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 10, 2024

I didn’t go back to find the post or the comment, but earlier this Summer we won with a sac fly and I was shocked to read we hadn’t had one in three and a half weeks. And then we got 3 in 3 innings. LOL. Look, we could have EASILY lost the last 2 games (to shitty teams I might add) but won both times. And they have kept my dream alive of 8-2 by this Sunday evening. Stranger things have happened.

Staggering Home, We Need A Sweep

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 9, 2024

Luckily Detroit got their nuts kicked in last night in the 9th inning and maybe they show up in SF a little bruised and worse for wear. And maybe our guys got some sleep on the ride home. One thing that better not happen: I don’t want to see that dumb motherfucker Doval within a country mile of a high leverage inning. I don’t give a shit about what kind of stuff he has. There’s something not right about him. You can just tell by looking at him that he’s not all-in sometimes.

And here’s the other thing. I don’t really follow closers but I scanned the list of them today and Doval’s WHIP of 1.61 is so far and away higher than any other closer it isn’t even close. I found a couple of guys at 1.41. Everyone else was hovering a little above or below 1.00. Enough already! Fuck this guy.

Win Win Win And Then Win

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 8, 2024

Exciting, bounce back win. And speaking of bouncing back, Harry has a chance to do that this morning. If we win today and then sweep Detroit at home we get to that coveted 8-2 record I’d hoped for to keep us in this race. The only hiccup will be the weather. Rain, and lots of it. Because we won’t see Washington again I wonder how they’ll handle what could potentially be a very long delay.

Here’s the line up if they play:

Tyler Fitzgerald – SS Heliot Ramos – CF Michael Conforto – LF Matt Chapman – 3B Mark Canha – 1B Jerar Encarnacion – DH Mike Yastrzemski – RF Casey Schmitt – 2B Jakson Reetz – C

Wash It Off

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 7, 2024

That was a tough one to lose. You stake *the best starting pitching staff in the major leagues* to a 4-0 first inning lead and you can usually take that to the bank. Sadly, Birddog wilted in the Summer swelter of Washington and the rest of the crew wasn’t much better.

They say you can’t win em all but if you’re making a case for the Giants to make the post season they pretty much have to.

Just catching up on that 1500m race. That race rivaled any of the best horse races I’ve ever seen in my life. Had tears in my eyes watching Hocker win that.

Marching Onward

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 6, 2024

We let Washington off the hook several times last night. Shoulda smashed them 10-1. But it’s a good sign we still came out with a W. That team deserves to lose every game just due to that stupid shimy each hitter does when he gets to first base.

Hope Birddog knows how to pitch in the humidity…..

Just Be Happy You Aren’t A White Sox Fan

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 5, 2024

Huge game today. Yet another chance to get back to .500. And all 7 of the next games are winnable. It’s not gonna be easy. It’s hot as fuck in Washington. No days off. And they’ve got to fly back across the country Thursday night to play in a totally different climate on Friday. But neither Washington nor Detroit should pose much of a problem. I’ve given them 1 loss to play with. This coming Sunday night I want to be able to look back on the last 10 and say “They wen’t 8-2 and we’re still in this.” LFG.

How Many Innings Do These Guys Have Left?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 4, 2024

Harrison or Birddog? Who ya got? Harrison wastes way too many pitches cast off to the left and out of the zone. At least when I’m watching him.

One thing Farhan either hasn’t thought through or he’s being disingenuous about: He says he thinks we’ve got the best rotation in MLB right? That if we have a chance they have to carry us into the Wild Card spot. But he’s got 3 guys who are going to be facing a major innings wall at some point. Harry, Birdy and Hicks (who has already blown past his).

So if this fantasy comes to pass, who are our starting pitchers in late September and October and beyond?

Sweet Smell of Snell

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 3, 2024

Well Blake Snell, it was August 2nd. You picked a dramatic way for you to get your first win of the year. What a fun game to watch. It was either here or on Twitter (I can’t remember) where someone mentioned that was like the easiest no hitter of all time. You could literally see it coming all the way and I think the 9th inning took like 90 seconds. Good for him. And us, we deserve a little fun like that in the dog days of Summer. We’re still in this. I know no one wants to hear that but if we go 8-2 like I hoped there’s a chance we get some meaningful baseball in September especially with all those games vs the Pads and Snakes.

Put Up Or Shut Up Time

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 2, 2024

Ok, I am still in on this season. LOL. Don’t ask me why. But the next 10 games are completely winnable. I know 7 of them are on the road, but the Reds, the Nats and the Tigers are very beatable. And according to Farhan we have the best starting pitching staff in the league (insert eye roll here). I don’t know, go 8-2 or better and we still got a shot at possibly having something to root for in September. It starts tonight with Snell.

Skating By With A Win

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 1, 2024

Nice to see Webb get back on the beam but it was beyond infuriating to see our bats score a total of 3 runs in 2 games against this shit team. I think there is absolutely something mental going on. Like, our ownership and GM don’t give a shit so why should we? This team knows they’re stuck in boring loser land and they seem fine with it. Just collect those checks and the gaggle of opt outers can do their thing this Winter. And here’s the other thing, if none of them care why should we?
