Staggering Into September
7-3. Well, the dream is dead. Sort of. Maybe it has always been dead. We are all-out to beat the shittiest teams in the league. At least we get Atlanta coming out of Nepal which should slow their bats down a little, at least for the first game. Looking forward to Soler flailing at pitches.
4 giants

Wow! Fitz & Judge neck & neck in the #2 spot!
Yeah nice Stat on WAR BF! Since the break Fitzgerald a out of your mind player right now is a huge catalyst taking over SS.Its not just his average, power, defense, speed,SB’s it easily having the largest laundry bill uni’s since Giants 3B “Dirty Al Gallagher” in the 70’s the dude gives it his all in his unrecognizable Jersey..
Chapman,Webb&Snell great play since the break as well it’s stretch time the cream needs to rise to the top!
Not only waiting for the Giants pitchers make Soler look silly failing at pitches and taking strike 3 calls, it’s him seriously taking on the toughest RF in baseball ⚾️ This will be true entertainment value, so grab some popcorn 🍿 watching him, bungle in the jungle in RF.Running dumb routes like Ruben Rivera on the bases, fans will be all over him both heckling and laughing…
I still say Soler (or his agent) told Farhan they wanted out. It just makes no sense that we ditch him with 2 months left. We could have traded him for a bag of balls in the off season too.
Could be. Then again, Farhan strikes me as the kind of guy who does shit just for the sake of doing shit.
“Look at me making deals! Yeah, I fucked up, but look! I’ll fuck up again!”
Not sure why you give a shit so much, AK. Soler’s just a guy that passed through. Like 10,000 other guys under Farhan.
Take a look at 2010 roster–almost everyone beside Posey and Pablo among top 9 hitters were gone soon after. and that doesn’t include Ross and Renteria but does include my fav guys Andres Torres and Juan Uribe. It’s what Sabes did. Giants of 2013 went 76-86.
Hudson? Peavy? By 2014 Cain and Lincecum were toast and Zito Wilson and J Sanchez gone too.
Looking forward to seeing Snell tonight, Sale not so much.
I’m having trouble again logging onto WordPress from my phone. That kind of problem seems to come and go for me.
Using my phone for this is an exercise in frustration.
Yeah. But I don’t like to deal with a lap-top when I’m watching a game. It just feels awkward. I don’t even use a lap-top all that often anymore. So much can be done on a phone these days. I probably need to get some kind of iPad type of thing.
I watched a fair amount of Olympic coverage, and it was pretty entertaining. I noticed the Olympic theme music has changed in the U.S. coverage. That Olympic theme music we grew up hearing is gone for some reason. Way too much coverage of women’s beach volleyball. But we know why the network gives it lots of coverage. It’s because of the women’s lack of coverage, if you hear what I’m saying. The U.S. women’s track outfits were pretty skimpy, too. But whatever. It’s surely what the networks want.
More synchronized swimming!
If you have 5-10 minutes, and you have Peacock, watch the replay of either the Men or Women marathon swimming — the summary version. Or speed through the long version. Either one. They swim for 10 kilometers, that’s over 6 miles, in laps that are up and down and across the Seine. So, half the race is swimming against the current, which is not slow by any means. They swim for 2 hours straight, to get it done, and still have enough left to kick the last couple of hundred meters for the finish. These people are so in shape cardiovascular wise, it is just unbelievable. I had no idea such a sport existed, it is truly mind blowing. I applaud all of them, medalists or not, for having finished this thing…
This Olympics was the most I was ever interested in the track running events. It just seemed like there were so many compelling stories and narratives, and highs and lows. Now a lot of those athletes go back to being more obscure for a few years again.
The terrible-ness of the baserunning in the 8th inning last night was truly epic. These guys have been playing organized baseball since they were kids. Such gaffs like last night defy our ability to understand.
I like that those screw ups are unambiguously on Chapman and Canha. The failure of management or lack of organizational readiness were not in play.
Pop psychologizing it, Chapman had just seen the Tigers score on a groundball to short with the IF in, and, in a flash, that recent memory intruded on his judgement. Or not.
Yeah, whatevs. Truth remains the Giants are terrible at baserunning pretty much across the board, and some of that has to be attributed to the farm system. Even if Chappie/Canha aren’t part of our system. I guess they absorbed it through osmosis.
Tyler Fitzgerald R-SS Mark Canha R-1B Heliot Ramos R-C Matt Chapman R-3B Jerar Encarnacion R-LF Mike Yastrzemski L-RF Marco Luciano R-DH Patrick Bailey S-C Casey Schmitt R-2B
Blake Snell L-SP
Kinda sucks not winning yesterday, chance to cut the W/C lead to 1/2 game with the Braves u could of passed them tonight now you need 3 wins against the Braves to make progress , 2-2 while ok is not good enough, huge statement game in a great matchup Sale/Snell.Let’s hope the Giants don’t Sale out tonight…
Damn, chilly and windy this evening at Oracle.
Hint . . . sounds like Giants weather.
August use to always be a warm/ hot month as a kid in the bay area , no longer with global warming
That was fucking funny.
Wow! Makes me thankful for Chappy.
Now thats what I’d call a seeing eye hit.
Casey sure crowds the plate. The other bases not so much…
Homeplate is the easiest one to head back to the dugout from, why waste energy?
Tell me it’s not 1968 all over again, when Carl Yaz led AL in batting with .301 average. Year before he hit .326 and 2 years later (after mound was lowered) he hit .329.
Luiz Arraez leads NL as they just showed hitting .305. Last year he hit.354.
Hitting baseball successfully has just gotten increasingly harder to do, for everyone.
Snell and Sale carving guys up masterfully.
And politically with incumbent Democratic presidents not seeking re-election…
Touche’! Good observation.
Fun fact about Carl Yaz: from his 5th ML season 1965 to his last 1983, every year he walked more times than he struck out, even at age 43.
Really Luciano?
more baserunning fun.
Is every coach on this team asleep?
Nothing like coming up hungry to make a good impression.
Not a fun fact his grandson Mike Yaz has no problem not striking Out more than walking any season..
Where’s the hustle Lucky Luciano Jesus Christ you stopped then tried to unload your piano, and Their’s Krukow defending him in unbelievable.
Great grab and tag.
There you go.
come on. Get one for snell.
Tremendous pitching on both sides definitely the night to take the under..
Yeah, quite a pitching duel going on here.
Sale is really good.
Still, the season long Giants putrid offense is not a particular selling point for Snell to stay next season…
Yeah, Sale has been very good for quite awhile. Amazing that he still hasn’t won a CY award. Sort of a funky, quasi side arm delivery, but it sure is effective.
100% Snarkk. 6-7 amazing starts with 2 wins:(
I rip Rogers a lot, and IMO he deserves it.
But, when he throws a solid 1-2-3, I’ll give him credit. Nice job…
Time for a run or 2!
OK, Sale is out.
Time to get something done here…
If we can only get to Luke Jackson 😂
Ramos looks lost at the plate:(
Someone should tell the hitters that Sale and Snell left.
Damn, didn’t want to go to extras.
Tyler Rogers from July 27 through tonight: 7 appearances 6.2 innings 0 hits 0 BBs allowed. In other words he has perfecto going over last 20 hitters he’s faced. And Giants have won all 6 coming in.
Wish Farhan would tell Melvin to save the closer for the 10th inning.
1st & 3rd no out, we need a rundown
Bench players available Braves none Giants Casali so none as well..
And the Ghost runner takes the lead off of Rodgers2
I hate that FUCKING RULE (ghost runner).
Runners in Ghost Position doesn’t mean shit as well for Giants as they blow this game..
Slip sliding away.
Goddamn ridiculous ghost runner.
Our inability to put the bat on the ball is frustrating. Looks like they were al swinging for the fences:(
We have dissected this a lot, but get the runner to 3rd. Easy grounder to the left or a bunt, but we either won’t or more likely, can’t. GRR
mac we got a ghost runner too…
I know. This was the kind of game — well pitched from the get-go — where I really would’ve preferred not having that stupid rule. Yes, the Braves hitters got the runner in and our shitty batters didn’t. But IMO, it was a lousy way to decide it.
Obligatory wild piece of ass on late night MLB Network postgame. It’s almost soft-core porn…
