The Worst Loss Of The Year
Pathetic. Utter embarrassment. Woeful inadequacy. Pitiful. Borderline contemptible…..
Yesterday, I did not care for the cut for their jib.

There’s a knowledgeable, level headed Giant fan that’s been calling NY sports radio forever. (Obviously not me). He just called and said Snell is probably the best pitcher in baseball and and that the Yanks and Orioles blew it by not trading for him. And the Giants blew it even bigger by keeping him cause they’re going nowhere…
well, what if Farhan was offered shit for him? It’s possible I don’t think he even had 1 W at the deadline. Maybe he had 1? And with an opt out after this season he was always going to be seen as just a rental

Along with Gasman, Rodon, Manaea, Bryant, and soon Chappie, Ray, and Snell.
Gonnna start buying velcro letters and numbers for my jersey to keep up with the moves.
He had 4 good starts in July – the last being the 15K performance against the awful Rockies on the 27th. The team won 3 of em, but he got no wins and one loss in the 4 games. The no-hitter was after the TD. I guess we’ll never know if there were any decent offers for him…
There weren’t great offers because of the opt-out clause. Soto went for mid-level guys. It was a lot of guys, but no one special. As of now anyway.
That’s good point though Loo about O’s at least. Given how well Snell has done, August n September he could have added 3-4 Ws at least to O’s cause. They have good enough farm to have met any demands. Maybe they were gunshy after trading for Flaherty last year and he sucked w 6.75 ERA in 7 starts for them down stretch.
Snell had 4 good starts in July before no no in August after he came back–2 runs allowed in 24 innings.
You gotta take your shot when it’s there. Can’t over-worry about prospects. We know how rarely they turn out special…
Agree 100% with Loo on this.
Dennis from Yonkers!
Can’t slip anything by Macdog…
It will come a day when pitchers don’t want to go to Oracle to waste their talents with an offense that just can’t score!
We should be drafting nothing but hitters.
I see your point now, i.e., park makes our pitchers half decent anyway. Consequently, we should be drafting hitters. I actually agreed with this before and somehow got confused last night . . . duh.
Anyway, spot on Unca. Always frustrated with Sabean and Zaidi emphasizing pitching in draft.
I have said this for years.
Draft hitters, buy pitchers. This is a pitcher’s park. The park has a somewhat earned reputation as bad for hitters, so you need to overdraft for position players/hitters for a rebuild, at least, if not regularly. Overdraft for pitchers so that you have trade capital later just doesn’t work.
And, draft for right handed power, left handed power is wasted in this park with the right and right center death dimensions. Draft left handed line drive hitters/speedsters to take advantage of the right field wide open spaces.
Yes, right handed hitters only (or preferred).
Well if they can ever figure out how to draft hitters with now the farm system dropping to 23rd with only 1B Eldridge the true talent right now!
Do like McCray even with a small sample size with his speed and defense. I would like to see an outfield of McCray in CF,Lee moves to LF, and Ramos in RF next year..
No way no how Ramos in RF. Lee in CF, McCray in RF, Ramos in LF.
Well McCray is faster than Lee and playing LF would protect him more than the crashes in the bullpen fences (which need more padding) either way 2 good Center fielders but I’m giving McCray the edge on arm&speed. Will see what the Giants want to go about it next year.Ramos is definitely not playing anywhere but a corner from now on and RF you want your strongest arm which he has..
At least McCray brings something interesting to the game. We have so many boring slow weak hitters he’s refreshing to see out there “MOVING like a winner….” Trevor Denman reference there.
Hustle double was great. Denman too, love him at Del Mar.
Denman is a shell of what he once was. When he was younger he was the best in the game (maybe a biased take from a West coast racing fan). He’s clearly lost a step but I still like hearing him call the races. Age is a bitch man. It gets everyone somehow, Someway even before you die.
He’s been in decline for quite a while. Really noticed it at a BC outside of his California comfort zone well over a decade ago. He completely didn’t notice 2 breakdowns iirc – one a big favorite. People underestimate the difficulty of race calling and there’s definitely a home field advantage. But in his prime he was as good as it gets…
Enjoy Chuck. Saw lot of good teams and baseball in that yard, especially in days before Mt. Davis. Give Kotsay lot of credit with that group, kinda fun in weird way.
Giants hitting again pathetic. Whoever has an opt out — why should they stay for a 2025 redux of this Sshow? Maybe Ray, since his arm is still going to be suspect heading into the offseason.
Keep hitting like this, they’ll lose at least one to the vaunted White Sox. If the White Sox swept, would that force a Farhan firing? I doubt even that would do it. Farhan’s 2019 inherited minor league ranking of the Giants by Fangraphs was 28th. Horrible. Now, the latest 2024 ranking by Fangraphs is 24th. There’s no cavalry coming.
So, 6 years into Farhan, the Giants farm is essentially as bad as when he took over. The foreseeable future looks pretty bleak…
Sears beat Giants when they were in SF, shutting them out through 7, 3 hits 1 BB/9 Ks so they owe him one. Other than one bad outing vs. Stros he’s done well in second half, full run lower ERA in 5 starts. He has slightly worse ERA at home than on road but gives up fewer HRs here.
Giants if anything probably owe a team a no hitter.
It’s incredible how many times it takes this team to get its 1st hit.5,6,7 innings it’s comical how often it happens..
Next year (yep, I’m there), ya have McCray in CF (looks like a keeper to me), Jung-Hoo in RF and Ramos in LF. Looks like Fitz nails down SS. don’t know about the rest of the INF. I wish they were working Luciano at 3B, I personally think playing him there or the OF is where he should be. 2B ? (see 3B), 1B Wade and ?, Need to beef up catching, Bailey’s D is great, but he seems to wear down after the AS break, need a guy that can hit AND throw guys out. SP I guess with Webb, Hicks, Ray, Harrison and young Mr. Birdsong. Closer?
You guys touting McCray (AK, Loco, Flav, and Unca), can add me to the list. He has to start in center, as he is already a major league quality centerfielder – yes, better than Lee. Really the only player in our system that can consistently steal bags too.
My concern is hitting, specifically his high K% rate . . . That being said, don’t play the “back and forth Sacramento to San Francisco shuffle” bullshit. Bring him up and keep him here for at least 300-400 ABs, as the dude is going to be 24 soon.
Good article and video about him which some of you may not have seen . . .

jerar was dogging it to 2nd.
Nailed Yaz EASILY
I never understood why Farhan didn’t resign Pillar. The guy said he liked playing in our yard and did well. Grave Duggar, Dubon, Slater and the rotating player of the day just never fixed CF.
Jesus. How do you get thrown out on an infield fly?
a
full inning of given outs.
WOW! Just wow.
Speechless
u fuc kingreal
Our RISP hitting must be near a league low. Has to be.
Flavor, if you’re bored at some point watch the head on of the 8th at Saratoga and you’ll see the most unfathomable NON-DQ in history…
Can I watch too Loo? Giants need an intelligence charger. They’re down to 3%.
Head on is worse, but they show it after the race if you stay with it…

Pfffttt . . .
Giants should watch some Little Leaguers to learn how to run the bases.
I’m good with bunting, when it’s called for. Not with one out and guys on first and second. Is Yaz that freaked with his swing that he tries to bunt in that situation? Ye gads.
And, does Schmitt ever take a first pitch, EVER?
This team is beyond ridiculous…
I want to know if Yaz called that bunt himself, or BoMel called it. Not sure which is worse. Either way, it’s a white flag of no confidence…
That one run will likely be sufficient the way the Giants have been hitting.
Ramos says, fuck this shutout shit.
Vamos!
Snell got through it. On helluva run.
I think we have a player in McCray (his family sure thinks so)!
Another rocket from McCray. Having good series.
Adios pelota!
Opposite field shot from Encarnacion.
Very, very happy for “Beer League.”
This cat has a great story
Back-to-back!
The Cerveza Leaguer has given me a shot to win a dinner at Original Joe’s.
Oh shit, Conforto just fucked it up.
Oh well, they might need the insurance.
Back to back Jacks! Unc is loving this.
And one!
Maybe when A’s leave Giants should play few games over there.
No way Encarnacion HR goes out at Oracle.
Nice back to back.
These days, they rarely score without HRs…

Got him!!!
Yeah Walker!
Walker finishes them off, nice comeback.
Great win!
quite the ending there! Jesus.
Saw on the ticker that A’s had best record in AL since AS break. 17-9! Good win. I hope Snell isn’t getting too pissed that we never score for him!
From the Athletic…
Soler was so spectacularly bad as a run producer that the Giants jumped at the chance to ditch the last two years of his contract even as he was starting to get on base in the leadoff spot. He wasn’t doing the job the Giants were paying him to do.
As a result, Patrick Bailey found himself hitting in the middle of the lineup far more than a defensive catcher should expect. He’s made some harder contact of late, but that isn’t much of a reassurance when he is 3 for 49 in 14 games this month and is hitting .120 since the All-Star break.
LaMonte Wade Jr. hasn’t been much of a factor, either. It’s hard to find fault in a batter who entered Saturday with a .404 on-base percentage, but he’s been one more member of the lineup who is passing the buck when it comes to driving in runs. Wade has just 20 RBIs all season. He’s driven in just three runs in 33 games since May 27, when he landed on the injured list with a strained hamstring. Two of those three RBIs came on solo home runs.
The Giants have gotten just nine home runs from their first basemen this season — tied for the fewest in the majors. (Compare it to 2021 when their first basemen led the majors with 48 homers.)….
Me: Quietly Wade has become Soler.
3 rbi’s (with 2 homers)? How can a guy get 1 hit to drive in a run in 39 games????
Hey, it’s not like a guy like Freeman was available.
Oh. wait.
Soler was batting leadoff so I don’t see how his presence or absence has anything to do with Bailey. He was sucking with him and without him batting 6th.
Saints running back Jordan Mims played HS ball for M-A before going to Fresno State.
It was just general comment in the article about how we are allergic to RBI’s. Soler was batting leadoff because he couldn’t drive in runs:(
Now Wade can’t either…
