Seattle tonight. Birddog in a good spot. That team strikes out a lot. No reason to expect anything less than a solid start from him.

I’m going to the game tomorrow afternoon in Seattle with some visiting relatives. Snell is scheduled.
Looks like rain, so likely the roof will be on. This will my first visit to this ballpark, so I’m looking forward to seeing it, though if the roof is on it won’t be the best experience.
Mariners just canned their manager, which was rumored for weeks up here. Getting swept by the Doghairs was the last straw. Mariners can boast they are worse than the Giants offensively, which is hard to believe is possible. But, the Ms have the #1 staff in MLB, so I expect this weekend to be a battle of strikeouts. We’ll see.
Took a charter fishing trip out on Puget Sound yesterday with the relatives and caught 5 good-sized Coho salmon, lost a couple more. Chartered out of a marina about a mile from my house, the captain is the SO of Mrs. snarkk’s yoga teacher. Good dude.
Fish tasted great last night off the pellet grill with some apple wood smoke. We’ve now got about 25 lbs of fresh salmon fillets and steaks in the freezers. At present prices for wild caught in the stores, that’s about $500 worth of fish, give or take. Took the hurt out of the charter cost, and had a great morning of fishin’ fun otherwise…
I forgot to say on the trip we saw a bunch of porpoises, cute little ones, and saw some Orcas off in the distance, with their big dorsal fins sticking out. Not a usual occurence for the Orcas, so that was cool. Since the salmon are running, they are on the prowl in the Sound.
On the way back near the marina, a harbor seal followed the boat closely in the back until the boat was in the slip. Our guide said that was “Luseal”, she’s been following his boat into the Marina for 6 years. NO, he’s not a Giants fan. She had several pups with her, of different ages. He cleans the fish, then while she just floats in the water off the back, he throws the fish offal at her, and she just slams them down. She took the fish heads and just crunch, crunch, swallow. So that they learn how to hunt themselves, he doesn’t feed the pups directly, he leaves that to her, if she wants to give them some. They all looked very healthy. She even climbed onto the back of the boat near the motor to take the goods from him. It was like friggin’ MarineWorld…
Great story, thanks
Man, I am sooooo envious of you (in a good way) having fresh salmon snarkk. My uncle Joe, who just celebrated 95 years at a recent Giants game, goes salmon fishing regularly. I love it when he gives me and other relatives salmon steaks. In fact, Michele and I ate the last one we had in the freezer about a month ago. Simply delicious . . . I air fry them.
Sounds like you are having a blast living in Seattle, particularly recently. Have a great time at the game tomorrow! You and the Giants bring us a win!
Yeah, blade. The area’s got some good things, it’s not all rain, all the time. We’ve actually had a ton of sun this summer, and maybe just a week’s worth of days over 90 degrees.
I’ll try to root on the Gyros to a win, but I can’t help ’em hit. On second thought, I could probably take an AB for ’em — I could strike out on 3 shit pitches just as well as Schmitt… 🙂
Regarding the sunny weather, I look at it this way – your move is a “textbook solution” to climate change, i.e., just keep moving north and what use to be normal weather 30 years ago in the bay area, moved a thousand miles to Seattle.
Me? I will likely end up somewhere near Stix in the so-called Minnesota tundra, which likely is getting warmer and warmer each year.
I’ve been to the Mariners’ ballpark several times; I like it a lot. Similar to the Giants’ ballpark in some ways, but without the cool view of a bay.
The Giants’ season hangs by a thread, but hey, the team will battle to the bitter end, it’s literally their job and paycheck. This year kind of felt like a paycheck year for the Giants overall. The team needs an identity, as other Flappers have said. I’m sure the team is almost completely anonymous to the rest of the MLB fans. Hovering around .500, and not able to sustain momentum.
My buddy Greg and his 2 brothers making their annual Giants road trip this year in Seattle. No other parks near by so they are seeing all 3 games there. Hopefully we win 2/3 at least!
New catcher in lineup tonight.

Meanwhile, Farhan’s DFA of Bart for virtually nothing becomes more and more stupefying.
The injury prone Murphy is nowhere to be found with a bad knee, collecting $4 million this year for an aggregate 4 hits in 13 game appearances…
And as many passed balls.
Bart hit .207 with Giants last year, with OPS .528. It was best for all he went elsewhere. He was below league average hitter in hitter friendly Sacramento too. His baseball career with Giants was decidedly underwhelming and he struck out a lot.
No one in baseball saw his breakout coming, even those who might have liked him here.
He was a solid defensive catcher. He had occasional pop.
Farhan gave that up for a dude with a checkered injury history. With nobody of note to fall back on. And, of course he’s been hurt virtually all season. Bad move…
Late Night gets going early!
Speaking of Late Night, he had 2 brief ML stints with Twins 2019-2020 and hit 2 HRs in 95 ABs. They trade him to Giants and he hits 18 in 2021 and nickname is born. Twins got Shaun Anderson in return, who has been with 6 teams in 4 years of suckitude.
Baseball.
Wasn’t there something about LaMonte going back to his high school coach to work out some hitting issues. I don’t remember the whole story, but I sorta recall a light switch moment for him to go into Late Nite mode.
Wade going yard! He needed that HR’s been hard for him this year!
I’m one that think the Giants blew it bigtime with Bart.Sure Bailey was the better player but to dump your other top catcher for peanuts made no sense. Now Bailey out, Bart sure would of been a nice asset to go with, Instead of Farhan now dumpster diving again, Who the hell is Knapp? Gawd I think Farhan goes to homeless camps looking for players?
He couldn’t go after Elias Diaz for a major upgrade?
Going back and forth between Niners and Giants.Niners look sharp early glad the starters getting some work! Oh TD RB Jordan Mason 10-0!!
Agree, Kat, it was disappointing that Bart didn’t do better and grab it when he had the opportunity, but I also thought it would’ve been smart to keep him, and play him often, give Bailey frequent spells as he obviously tires out as the season progresses. As disappointing as Bart was, he’s better than any of the nameless faceless backup catchers that have paraded through China Basin…
Birdy gets out of it with some help from Arozarena.
Conforto goes deep!
Damn Mac, beat me to it.
Ha!
Conforto goes deep.
I’m happy for Bart. he sucked for us, and we all complained a lot. Glad he is figuring it out…
Nice jack from Conforto! Birdsong’s stuff is great. I hope he gets his command sooon!
jelly testing the limits of the park
Ramos hit the shit outta that one.
Ramos goes way deep!
Ramos freaking CRUSHED That HR!!!
Man this it great a double dip of Giants/49ers on my birthday and both winning..
Yaz birthday is today as well..
Happy Birthday, Kat.
Rolling AK. Enjoy !
Dang McCray has screwed up every single bunt attempt. Unacceptable
Stop effing walking guys! Nibblers drive me crazy. Giants have 5-1 lead and M’s are one of worst hitting teams in the league.
Thanks Loco&Willie yeah I’ve got a 50 year reunion coming up too in a couple weeks( appertizers,Dinner,OPEN BAR!!Music, just have to stay vertical alittle longer, beats the alternative as Loo would say!
Get him the fuck out already!
Jesus. How bad a call was that?
is 6 hits enough MoTel?
Wow, just wow.
Unbelievable 6 straight hits off of Rodgers and freaking Melvin leaves him in???
Great so much for the lead GONE and now tied at 5-5 still no outs wtf I hate Melvin!!
BoMel — so far this season, this guy’s reputation seems way way overhyped to me …
Sheezus.
Tyler Rogers — the cure for the Mariners hitting ineptitude…
Only saw the 3 outs, as I just tuned in. Just based on those last 3 idiots swinging the bats, Rogers was the antidote too. Or, as the Seattle broadcast crew said, “Ironic as it seems, the Giants ended that inning with momentum.”
Heavy sigh
16 Giants have struck out led by Fitzgerald’s Golden Sombero of 4!!
Yeah Snarkk called it battle of Strkeouts which the Giants are dominating..
Predictable with these two inept hitting squads.
Until Tyler Rogers gets on the mound. It’s friggin’ all or nothing with that dude. I don’t want to see him next season. Done with him. BoMel was partly to blame for leaving him in there to keep getting hammered. WTF was that, anyway? He finally brought in Walker, after the entire horse population had left the barn…
Miller the anti-Rogers.
Ooops, meant Walker.
Great job by Walker striking out the side as Mariners up to 13 punch outs as well..
Oh boy it’s extra innings Ghost Runner time grr ðŸ˜
Wonder what the record is for consecutive times not getting a ghost runner home. GRR
And of course the Giants can’t score! Pathetic
Truly amazing how often we K in those situations:(
Giants with the phamiliar pffftttt effort with their Ghost Runner. Not good…
Gawd, the Giants are poor at paying attention to runners. Ridiculous…
This could go 20 innings . . . with one, two, or three ghost runners.
zzz . . .
What a fucked up game.
That’s it, season over.
yeah Turn the lights out MoTel 6.
That was pretty predictable.
Melvin needs to explain why he was asleep in the 8th.
Horrible, inexcusable loss to a team that’s been in free fall…

That’s me if something like this happens at tomorrow’s game…
The M’s have been crap offensively for 2 1/2 months, at least. They traded for Arozarena, and he’s been crap with the bat since arriving. Fans up here have been hammering the sportstalk with being fed up, much like Giants fans. They finally canned the manager Servais, but he’s a sacrificial lamb.
IDK if they’ve had 6 straight hits all year, or even 5 — until now with Tyler Rogers handing it over to them. Awful.
I hope tomorrow’s game the Giants get out of their funk and play smart with no mistakes…
4th game in last 10 we have been in 9th or 10th tied and lost them all. Not even mad. Just resigned..
PS I jinxed Chapman. Since I plugged for him 3 or 4 days ago I don’t think he has gotten the ball out of the infield.
Go Niners!
40 years since the Giants fired a manager during the season?
Gotta be the longest current stretch in baseball…no?
I thought Z fired Kap last year with 3 games remaining in the season…
Dammit Paul!
Uh, I’m not counting last year…
Haha, ok, not counting last year, yeah, 40 years… 🙂
