Gross Loss
That old saying about baseball being 162 long games and baseball fans spending most of those 162 being totally pissed off all the time….yeah. It’s games like last nights that remind me of that saying.

I was busy with “dad” crap almost the entire game. Just caught the part where Walker stopped the bleeding in the bottom of the 8th . . . He made Seattle hitters look silly. In effect, he should have started that inning, not Rogers.
Snell pitching today, so he will likely shut down the Mariners and get us above .500 . . . However, if we lose, and Cards and Cubs win – they will overtake us, insofar as leading the “gang looking in” wannabee Wild Card contenders.
The countdown for Farhan cleaning out his desk is September 29th and he can take his “Ass licking Chocolate Hersey Highway “up his Retinol BoMel from hell with him.These 2 fuckups both need an Enema!!

The usual putrid RISP hitting. That diving catch by the LFer in the first really hurt, that could have scored 3.
No idea what is with Snell and all the walks. He was high early, and wildness continued until this past frame.
Lots of Giants fans here. I’m guessing crowd is about 25K, give or take. Nice ballpark, even with roof on. Low energy crowd so far.

Not one pitch Snell threw in 2nd inning was ever fielded, out of 40 some. All BBs and Ks. Can you imagine playing behind him in an inning like that?

I understand that Edgar Martinez was (again) hired as the Mariners hitting coach, along with the new manager. Martinez will make a difference – maybe not this year, but next year for sure.
In 2015, the Mariners hired Martínez as their hitting coach, reassigning some guy named Howard Johnson. The team’s offense improved from a .233 batting average and 3.4 runs scored per game in the 68 games coached by Johnson to a .260 average and 4.6 runs per game with Martínez in 94 games. Manager was fired at the end of the season, but they retained Martinez.
He quit in 2018 to spend time with his family . . . Fast forward a few days ago, he’s back. Seems like an excellent coach.

Good win. Weird Snell suddenly losing his control. Doval did well considering he was likely under a lot of pressure. He talked about it being a good thing to be sent down, to “get my head on straight”. Even if he doesn’t close, another good reliever always a plus! Go Giants. Good to see McCray and Fitz respond well to all the k’s yesterday!
I saw ROY post and the top 5 in WAR Fitz is 5th. The guy extrapolated it out over similar AB’s and Fitz with comparable ABs is 7 vs 4.8 for next closest!
