Seattle Snarkk
Amidst all the hoopla of the Travers I missed it that Snarkk was at this game. Got a pic to share my man? Thorpedo Anna ran her heart out. What a race. What a race horse.
Ray Ray for a little revenge revenge today. Let’s go!

Yes, Flav’s filly almost got it done, hella race.
Saw this discussion on Mets thread in TA: Ohtani and Ozuna are top 2 batters in NL for HRs, tied for rbis, and in top 5 for BA (led by Ozuna at .307). Both these guys are DHs who have played exactly 0 games on field. Ohtani leads bWAR, followed by Marte and Lindor…Chapman btw is 5th.
Is it fair for them to be MVP? I don’t think DH has ever won the award.
Don Baylor in 1979 had a monster year winning the MVP but he played 19 games in the field mostly RF strictly DH after May 5th that year..
So supposedly the Giants did pursue Catcher Elias Diaz but he rejected them cause they couldn’t guarantee he would be on the team if Bailey was able to come back sooner from his DL stint and the Giants are happy with Casali as are the pitchers on how he handles the staff. I get it sort of,Diaz learning a pitching staff this late in the season, but he still would have been a major upgrade hitting of noodle bat Casali!
And if Bailey oblique takes more time there back to Reetz on a cracker are Farhan( whipping boy) he hates this guy Sabol island his permanent doghouse guy ..
Forgot about Knapp time 🛏️😴💤whatever..
Mets are only 2 behind Braves who lost 5-1 to Nats today. They’ve won first 2 of 3 in 4 game series at San Diego on 10 game trip that takes them next to AZ, followed by 3 at ChiSox.
Fav book for bathroom reading, Keith Law “Smart Baseball.” Here he is on rbis: “High RBI totals continue to pollute MVP ballots, albeit not to the extent they did twenty years ago (note: from 2016 when this was written), and to derail discussions of actual player value.”
yeah, who wants RBIs? The Giant prove all the time how to play without getting them.
A batter who hits a grand slam gets 4 rbis…because 3 other guys got on base ahead of the hit he got. Baseball counts 1 run scored by giving credit to 2 different players, the guy who scored and the guy who drove him in.
Guys who are at top of rbi stats end of the year are there mostly because they have the most opportunities, not necessarily because of how well they do with all those chances.
Ramos with his 20th.
Yeah, Awesome.
ray’s gone 3-2 on every hitter.
this fucking ump ain’t helping either.
Ray’s skirting trouble left and right
Totally disagree with the take, “. . . mostly because they have the most opportunities.”
Certainly, it DOES have to do with opportunities, but the best RBI players are put in the 3rd or 4th spot in a line up because of clutch hitting. Hitting with runners in scoring position requires a specific skill set and mental toughness, and RBIs can be a measure of a hitter’s ability to perform under pressure. This is a big reason why Lou Gehrig is celebrated, as he had the record for grand slams for decades. Similarly, why he hit 185 RBIs in a season.
Again, absolutely you need table setters (something Loo pointed out the other day with regard to Mays, whom had shitty table setters). However, in the 9th inning with the score tied, I want Mays at bat to bring that run(s) home.
Again, I have no problem with someone saying opportunities are a factor, but saying “mostly because they have the most opportunities” is plain wrong. “Ice in his veins” is the phrase that suggests a person is calm and collected, even in high-pressure situations. That’s the guy I want in the 3rd spot or clean up spot in the line up.
Because he’s the best hitter. Aaron had 400 more ribs than Mays, but Mays was better hitter. Law is talking about qualities that make up a hitter valuable, not just how many ribs a guy accumulates making him more valuable. Guys on team that win pennants and have lots of ribs automatically get more consideration for MVP that isn’t always justified is his argument.
Ray pull his hamstring just what the Giants don’t need.
Highway to Hjelle in and so how escapes a leadoff single and getting a DP inning ending play..
So the idea is to discount RBIs, Willie? Batters are in the 3-4-5 spots to drive runs in. Every RBI situation isn’t a grand slam. Outs and runners play a part. But to discount a career of driving inRuns as somehow being overrated and not being exactly what a given player is supposed to do is ludicrous. I Know you didn’t say it but it’s stupid comment meant to garner a response.
it’s like saying Nerry Rice shouldn’t get his accolades because he had 2 hof QBs throwing to him.
Good analogy unc.
squirrels and blind nuts and all that
Apples and oranges. In order for a hitter to get rbis, guys have to be on base ahead of him is the point. Just because a guy gets rbis shouldn’t discount what others that got on base did in front of him. Yet the guys with rbis are the ones up for MVP awards–one individual given credit for accumulating a stat that would not happen without others on his team.
It’s 2024, not 1920 when some idiot newspaper guy invented this stat. there are far better ways to evaluate how good a hitter is than RBIs. “It is an individual stat that depends far too much on the performances of other players, in this case, whether the hitters ahead of the player get on base enough for him to drive them in” per Law.
I needed James to explain Deron Johnson’s sick RBI season of 1965 to me
Haniger getting some payback on that catch.
This one sounds similar to the game I saw yesterday.
But, Giants with even less offensive spark so far today, just incapable of stringing a couple or three significant hits together. They are so dependent on HRs to score, it is just amazing. Seeing them in person yesterday, almost every hitter seemed lethargic, kind of resigned, to a poor outcome. Swinging at bad pitches. The only players with real, obvious energy seemed to be Fitzgerald, maybe Thairo, Yaz and certainly Walker — he impressed me a ton. IDK what to say about Dovall — he did not look to be back from the minors with an improved outlook — I think he even had a pitch clock violation- though it wasn’t clear to me whether that was the case…
There’s your solo HR RBI, by McCray. Need more…
I think you can blame the front office for the lack of excitement from the team.
Farhan sat on his thumbs and did nothing to improve the team. As a player you see SD LA and AZ make a boatload of deals. Our ‘best pitching staff’ comment was merely lip service to a front office that doesn’t really give a shit about the team.
Woah!!!!
McCray = Stud
they should sent mccray
and the obligatory k. All we do is swing for the fences.
I like Fitzgerald but Encarnacion goes the other way, takes a little off the swing, and goes where the pitches are. Mexican league stuff.
like that. Ramos could have shortened his swing and tried to hit the ball to the right side but no, he takes and then Ks
bugs bunny shit
I rest my case. Almost incapable of conga line hitting to score runs…
You want a team that scores with RISP well this isn’t the team..
The only player I enjoyed to knock in runs was Jeff Kent and he even admitted at contract times when he said :”The money lies with the RBI’s” one of the best quotes EVER!!
Besides Bonds nobody was more CLUTCH then Kent.. He was probably 8 out of 10 knocking in runs. Not like this pathetic bunch doing anything in the clutch..
Mind boggling how bad the Giants are at preventing steals.
It’s nearly a gimee double for a guy with decent speed to get on first.
M’s 5 for 5 today stealing. A playoff team doesn’t allow that kind of theft.
ive been harping on this all year. Other teams run wild and we steal almost never. Can’t win that way.
Hard to complain about Ramos since he is one of the few with power, but he does K a lot when he should get the bat on the ball. Of course we can say that about every hitter in the lineup:(
now you steal?
we should hire coaches from the Toros de Tijuana. They teach how to hit opposite field hitting and go with pitches. It isn’t all Jack or crack.
Would we have to hire Spanish/English interpreters too?
Whatever it takes to get these guys hitting smarter.
That was automatic for this team u knew they couldn’t tie it up.They get within one a lot this season and can never tie it are take a lead ever! And if they miraculously do, they will blow it in the bottom of the 9th and for sure with the ghost runner…
The good part of NEVER getting a clutch hit is now I don’t get my hopes up when we have RISP I don’t think in all my years as a Giants fan have I been more sure they wouldn’t get it done:(
lol. Yeah.
snarkk how bout a non baseball comment. How bout a food review. How was the food there? Prices?
No particular problem with Hernandez ride but I want to see my rider pumping and flailing like a maniac inside the eighth pole in a race of this magnitude.
Maybe not his style and obviously he knows how to ride this horse but I wonder just a little if a different jock might’ve got her home
Maury Wills drove in 48 and got his MVP. He scored 130 runs.
How did he get home? It’s a bullshit concept, Willie.
Wills deserved it more in ’65 than ’62. Mays deserved it more in ’62 than ’65…
Yep.
