Trouble in Paradise
The Niners March back to the Super Bowl has taken some serious hits lately. The Aiyuk fiasco. Like, if you were gonna bend over and give him 30 mil a year why not do that a month ago so he could have gotten ready for the season? Trent Williams still unsigned (I think, he was unsigned when I left the Bay Area yesterday). And now our fucking #1 pick getting shot in the chest in SF. Something so high profile is not going unnoticed by athletes and their families across all sports. SF was already viewed as a shithole in decline. A lawless land. And you can argue against that but that is the PERCEPTION. And it will continue to affect how people view The City. Mayor Breed is probably the worst mayor SF has ever had.
Rib cook off was fantastic. Gonna pay the price in El Bano this morning.

Nice, Flav. There’s an Asian club travel team tournament locally and I watched some guys I coach play yesterday. One of the Sac teams hosts tournament in Reno first week of October, and a coach from SF I know is sending his team up there. Like he said, parents are ones most up for it as long as weather is OK. Let kids stay in room while they hit buffets etc.
Just another brad penny L I only caught some of, as Giants got burned on bad call on SB at 2b, Conforto finally got couple hits and HR but didn’t get any help, and Marlins spoiled decent outing by Mason Black.
Team that I watched get blown out by 30 in first game then had 1 point lead in last seconds of second game only to lose on offensive board. They had foul to give to run more time off clock at end, but no TO from Coach. Like Giants so many times this year, bad teams find way to wind up on losing end of winnable games.
Good luck to Darren Baker too. Kinda funny the J T clips keep showing up–the “Kid” is now 25. Per Melissa Lockard in TA, “Baker doesn’t have much power (only six career homeruns and none this season), but he’s always hit for average and gotten on base at a good clip and he’s a solid defender.” Sounds as old school (what middle IFs used to be) as Dad. Steals bases too, which sounds like just type of player Giants could use, sigh.
Pls, Giants, get Luciano some ABs somewhere in last month. Sabol homered and stole a bag for RCs last night and cannot be worse at plate than Bailey, Matos 3-4 with HR and double. Luciano has been playing SS in Sac too–get him in lineup somehow and leave him there.
He’ll have a spot when Chappie leaves.
I posted a thread in June saying ”pay BA $30 mill and be done with it”.
Yeah this shit just keeps getting weirder with the team.
17 year old kid from Tracy was the shooter.
Yeah nothing beats the Rib Cookoff in Reno except the prices.Your hitting good weather BF, I was up last year and it was so freaking hot 🥵 like 104-107 that whole time is was going on add walking around on concrete ( which adds more degrees) you felt like your tennis shoes, sandals, flip flops were going to melt while u walked.Still a fun event, grab some cold ones,Rib platter find an umbrella, and listen to band are too!!
Yeah this whole Ricky Pearsall shooting is very disturbing and another major black eye for SF which is a CESSPOOL of no enjoyment to go to anymore, and I was born there, lived in the sunset district but I hardly ever go to SF anymore..
I’ll say one thing about Ricky Pearsall he’s one tough MOFO takes a bullet through is chest and walks over to the ambulance? Another stupid decision by SF incompetent people to let him not get a wheelchair atleast to go over to the ambulance 🚑Thoughts and prayers Ricky for hopefully a career going forward and not over before it even starts..
BF, can you still taste the difference in ribs style when you’re on your 7th or 8th or 10th baby back rib? The rub, the sauce? Are they that different? I really like some good baby backs, but it’s hard for me to fathom I wouldn’t be on taste bud overload after a while at this event. What a way to go, though ! ….
“Despite pervasive “doom loop” chatter around San Francisco’s struggling downtown, car break-ins and a public drug crisis, new police data shows crime in the city was considerably down in the first half of 2024. However, whether that foreshadows a prolonged trend or is just the result of a few good months is still unknown.”Katie DeBenedetti, June 18th, 2024
Other than a few top-of-the-hill neighborhoods, SF has ALWAYS been perceived as a crime-riddled shithole, along with every other city in the US that’s large enough to have a major sports team.
London Breed IS no doubt the worst Mayor of SF in our lifetimes, Farhan never should have signed her. The 49ers will almost certainly be a huge disappointment this season, (10-7) and the crime rate in Santa Clara will skyrocket. The Warriors will flounder. The Bay Area turns its weary eyes to Macklin Celebrini.
Numbers can fuck with you. If something goes up 100% it only has to come down 50% to be back to where it was…
Walnut Creek is tired of you.
It depends on the neighborhood, Walnut Creek contains multitudes. I literally get fan mail from clients in Rossmoor. My HOA hates me, the neighbors in my building like me. The drivers who cockblock the left of two lanes turning from Civic Dr onto YVR hate me, the Mayor and City Council like me because I praise them for being the only competent governmental entity in my life.
How many big club roster moves did Farhan make in August? This includes options back down to Sac, DFAs/waivers, FA acquisitions, outright releases, moves onto or off of the IL:
29
37
43
54
and call ups from Sac …
278
Not far off.
54.
That’s almost 2 moves every day.
Checked the:
Doghairs — 63 moves. Looked like a lot of IL up/down.
Pads and Braves — only 41 each
DBacks — 40
Wow. Webbie shoots himself in the foot.
Garnished Cornish Hen and put in Air Fryer . . . Maybe 7 minutes tops. Somehow Giants lost lead.
Failure to shut down the opponent after scoring has plagued the Giants all year.
Fans bitch about Webb’s lack of support, but this second blown lead is all on him.
It’s the defense, skippy.
That a fact Jif?
Thought maybe it was the lead-off baserunners and two-out hits Webb allowed in this game.
Nice of ex-Giant for a minute Baumann to speed through the Giants bats for a 1-2-3 frame…
Fucking Bailey has zero clue during his ABs. Only Giant worse, is Schmitt.
What a God-awful job here. Another 11 k’s.
Weeeeeeeee! Webbie does himself in.
Ramos and Yaz, just as bad . . . Pfffttt. Terrible, embarrassing homestand.
And they draw 41,000 for the Posey bobble heads. I’m sure Larry Baer is forcing the elves to work overtime to make a million bobble heads for next year.
Next year though, Ramos, McCray and Lee isn’t a terrible OF. As long as McCray and Lee can hit a boatload of doubles. Encarnacion looks pretty good as well.
Losing a series at home to the putrid Marlins is just awful. Or Twin’s least favorite word, pathetic.
Who the fuck does Fence Post sound like? Cory Haim? It’s fucking Goonies all over again.
Streameast cut off the Fence Post interview before he came on. Perhaps, I should be grateful for that.
Did SD release Melvin from his contract so he could sign with Giants?
Not unequivocally certain Bass, but I think that did happen.
If yes, wondering how easy it was for SD to green light that move and why. Didn’t do us any favors, or so it seems.
Agree
Sounds right.
Wonder what happens if they go 9-15 down the stretch. 77-85. Or worse.
I think the redo is still in play and these guys remain.
A month of baseball left, anything can happen… but I’d guess it’s a steady circling of the drain and Z will be a victim of it. I’m just wondering, does he get fired after the season ends or before it ends, a la him firing Kap last year…
Anybody see the Dulcolax commercial where the woman is beaming after apparently taking a monstrous crap? Followed by a shot of the abandoned toilet which seemed to have mixed emotions about the whole episode…
I must say, in my older years, a swift and complete crap first thing in the morning really makes my day…
I hate to admit it, but in high school, I had a girlfriend that was so ugly, that when she walked by a toilet – it flushed itself.
Sheez, blade, you’re venturing into Rodney Dangerfield territory!
I can’t help but think of her as a young girl dreaming of movie stardom that culminates in her taking a dump on national TV…
I’m with you Paul..If I can pinch off a huge loaf after my coffee 1st thing my days off to a great start! Throw in a massive pee like Tom Hanks in League of your Own and it’s a highlight reel moment of a pathetic life day..
Haven’t seen that commercial Loo, must be an east coast gig. But anything involving a massive crap I’m in! “You show that turd who’s boss!!
Too funny, Kat. There’s also that saying, you know you’re old when you welcome diarrhea…. Ah, look what shitty baseball has reduced (some of) us to….
Darren Baker with first MLB hit today with Nats in his first MLB AB. Good for him, and good for Dusty, who was at the game…
Chron had Datebook column about KSAN documentary shown couple times at 4 Star theater, “Something in the Air.” Late 60s early 70s great time for growth of local FM radio
Gotta love Webb but I think you gotta be an every day player to really be a team leader if you believe one is needed…

yesterday’s loss to the lowly Marlins and in losing the series is the first day to the end of the baseball season….well timed at least for the start of the nfl season and fantasy football focus!!
first day of the off season…GOODBYE FARHAN!!!
will try this again…yesterday’s loss and the series loss to the lowly marlins is Day One to the end of the baseball season. Well timed for the start of the NFL season and all the fantasy leagues.
Day One of the off-season…GOODBYE FARHAN!!!
Ok now the first comment appears…thanks word press…
I am experiencing the same thing.
Posts don’t appear for several refreshes, then suddenly appear. Then disappear again…
Per this post, Giants are down to 0.9% chance of making playoffs. Meanwhile, Zaidi needs an intelligence charger quick, he’s down to less than 5%.

The Mark Canha thing makes no sense at all. When he was acquired, there was effectively no hope. Now, it is obvious there is no point in him playing. Farhan could have put / tried Luciano at first, had they put him at first for a couple weeks in Sac immediately after the last sent-down. Give him 100 more ABs before the season is done. Now, I’ve read they are trying him back at SS, after having him try 2nd base. WTF are they doing with this kid — trying to F up his head? It is beyond bizarre…
Saw a fun fact about Robin Roberts: on August 29 1966 he beat ATL while pitching in relief for Cubs to become “the first last and only pitcher to beat the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves and Atlanta Braves” per Davenport Sports Network.
Wonder if someone out there will do that vs. A’s, btw Oakland Sacramento and wherever else they might wind up.
Musical fun fact: Pianist Horace Silver and saxophone/reed player Clifford Jordan were both born on September 2, 3 years apart (1928-1931 respectively). They played together on Silver’s Blue Note LP Further Explorations in 1958
Eddie Matthews played for all 3 Braves teams. It would be kinda cool if he faced Robin Roberts in those games.
Well, a little research shows that Mathews was pinch run for in the 9th inning of the 8/29/66 game and didn’t face RR who pitched the 13th and 14th innings. He did bat against him earlier in the season on 8/02/66 in Chicago, so RR at least pitched to Mathews as a member of all 3 Brave teams. Now I’m wondering if any other pitcher might have…
Camilo Pascual beat the Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Oakland A’s.
He’s the scout who signed Jose Canseco.
Excellent – thanks! Definitely nobody played for A’s in all 3 cities…
Eldridge pushed up to AA.
This kid has a lot of hype, maybe this time it’s justified. Maybe another Will Clark in the making?

Sheesh, snarkk, things have been so fucked up with this team since the All Star break, I forgot about Zaidi getting Canha in a trade, e.g., 4 out of the last 5 games, Canha has pitch hit . . . . 1 fucking hit in those games . . . zzz
It’s just bizarre. There is no evident real point to some of these moves. Just deck chair management.
Webb taking responsibility for that weekend loss to the Marlins is noble, but misplaced. That loss didn’t tank the season, that horse left the barn quite a while ago. Plenty of games he pitched great with no run support. And, I agree with Loo — Webb’s a gamer, but how can a starter be a team leader? If he is, that confirms the team is a mess — you’d think an everyday player is leader material in most every case. The obvious one here is Chapman, but IDK if he’s a clubhouse leader, he’s basically been with the team now for just 5 months …
Moreover, Chapman didn’t say jack about yesterday’s loss . . . If he did, please correct me and show me what he said to “fire up” the team???
Many of us here want the Z regime gone, not one more year of him and his myopic plug-n-play approach to (not) building a team. Who among current GMs and/or potential GMs out there would be a good get? Hear Ng’s name mentioned but other than her, I certainly don’t know who the team should get. I doubt Polito or Putilo or whatever his name is should be the guy…
Call me crazy, but I WANT Brian Sabean back. He is still relatively young (68 . . . To me that is young . . . HAHAHA) and he is still in baseball big time with the Yankees – as “executive advisor to the general manager and senior vice president Brian Cashman.”
Yeah, I want Sabes back!
Haha, “Hire Sabean now!”….
I’m part of the “lunatic fringe.” We Want Sabes! We Want Sabes!
I’d go with Ng. Fuck Sabes. Dumping Soler and getting Canha was the white flag move. Hated it at the time and hate it now. By the time everyone goes away after this season, we will be in the same boat as we were in 2019. A team with no direction and a lot of holes.
And management doesn’t care. These guys will go 10-14 and end up at like 78-80 wins and the front office will call it fine. The only way they get rid of Farhan is if they go like 6-18 and 74 wins.
Agree. That was one of the most pathetic trade deadline performances by a Giants “GM” I’ve ever seen. Did nothing to strengthen the team in the short-term or long-term. Wasn’t even a white flag, it was just pointless. “Let me just keep pushing some buttons, add this 35-year-old guy, get rid of this guy I just signed a few months ago”… Someone here called the team rudderless. Good description. From what I’ve read, much of MLB is wondering what the hell is going on in SF. The owners need to get their heads out of their asses and save the team.
Read my last paragraph!
They just drew 41,000 to a fucking Marlins game with the bobblehead giveaway. As long a Larry Baer keeps cranking out tchochkees to throw at fans, they’ll get enough butts in seats.
I guess. I have a cousin from St. Louis and she has posted photos of home games where it looks like the stands were less than 1/4 filled with fans, and the Cardinals are even ahead of the Giants. I guess that hasn’t happened in SF… yet…
Oh, it did early in 2021 when the team was sucking. They were getting ~10-12,000. Then they got hot and the stadium refilled. No idea where we stand attendance wise, but I’m sure we are somewhere around 8th in the NL.
