Another L
Just noticed we lost last night. That’s how little interest I have right now. Been up for 2 hours and just thought to check the scores to see how we did last night. If you lose my interest I can only imagine how long ago you lost the more casual fan’s interest. Farhan has to go.
Flav, I and I believe many (most?) of Flav Nation agree on two separate sentiments you’ve expressed past 48 hours. First, Chapman signing on balance solid deal on multiple fronts. He should be cornerstone at third for several years. Second, Farhan Zaidi/Pete Putila era needs to end as soon as season over and new management from outside organization (Kim Ng great candidate) needs to be brought onboard.
For me, Thursday signing of Chapman was bittersweet. While I’m glad Chapman will remain Giant, I’m also convinced this signing indicates current management is fully entrenched and has support of ownership. Zaidi & company are already making plans for 2025. And why should 2024-2025 offseason produce any better results than 6 previous offseasons under Zaidi regime?
It’s not all Zaidi’s fault but change in senior management is desperately called for. However it won’t happen. Interested whether others share my view that Zaidi/Putila here to stay.
Chappie’s 32. Ain’t no several years there.
Longoria was the same age as Chapman (32) when the Giants traded for him in 2019 and was a Ironman with Tampa Rays. But it wasn’t with the Giants injuries mounted, only played in 470 games in 5 years (88 games a year?)
Chapman’s work ethic’s and body type seems pretty solid to play mostly everyday right now (He’s a true Ironman)definitely compared to Longoria’s at the same age who broke down quickly and most games he played in a Giants season was his first at 125 games, Chapman already blew by that number in his first Giants season. It’s a great signing just cause he doesn’t get injured and on the field consistently playing great defense every game.
Check out the great HOFer 🤮🤮🤮 Scott Rolen from age 32 on…
https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rolensc01.shtml
Rolen was in his prime during the steroid era so that should tell you all you need to know about his decline.
Valid point. Just can’t help feeling unexcited about a guy who at best is a solid piece to a team that lacks pretty much everything. Can’t help my old school feelings about things like BA, etc. I’ve been wrong a million times here. Earlier this year I called Lindor the biggest POS in baseball. Now he’s pushing for MVP. So it goes…
The stats on Will Clark and Jeff Kent are generally the same as Rolen, and in some cases, better. Yet, they aren’t in the HOF. Kent has 250 more RBI and nearly 400 more hits in a position normally not associated with that kind of production, though Rolen’s 3rd base is.
I don’t get it. Again, the HOF is a joke…
Cal beats previous ranked #16 Auburn 21-14 in red old Alabama.
A solid road win by Cal — one of the best in years …
3 run dinger for McCray.
Another blast by McCray, 5 RBI night. Needed those extra runs.
Hell yeah . That was awesome after 2 Ks ahead of him top 9.
Boom! Another no doubt bomb from McCray. 6-3 Giants.
Put W in the book. Walker closes Padres out after lead off double.
Tough win. good job by Webb and a great night for McCray.
Well a long time ago, the football Giants had an RB known as “All The Way” McQuay. Guess the baseball Giants might as well have an “All The Way” McCray…
