A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Let’s Go Detroit!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 17, 2024

As little as I care about baseball and the Giants right now it’s the exact opposite of how Chris Castellani is experiencing this Tigers ride. It was a long time ago, but I think I was acting a little bit like this guy back in September of 2010…..

Give the kid a break. He deserves one. Let’s see Detroit make the post season.

Tigers are great story this season. O’s are 3 back of Yanks and 2.5 ahead of Royals, so these games are important to them. It’s also why Melvin keeps some vets in lineup still as professional courtesy to teams fighting for playoffs as opposed to playing scrubini kids lineup.

Pads got Darvish back and he shut out Stros through 6 as SD won 3-1. Pitching! and couple HRs from Profar and stellar rookie CF Merrill.

Do remember Sept 2010 as we were in Company meeting in Jersey near Meadowlands visiting NYC every day. We got in late Sunday and it wasn’t easy to find open liquor store nearby at night. Took trip next afternoon via shuttle into City and walked down street across from WTC that was still being rebuilt at that time, took ferry to Statue and Ellis Island (great place to visit even for short time).

And at night left coast games still going on and me and Giants fan buddy roommate could cheer them on from hotel as they chased down Padres. good times!

At that time Company had taken ownership of 9 travel stores in greater NYC area and I got to meet very cool and knowledgeable people that ran these businesses. Good sports fans too and a woman from PR who ran high volume store we visited on Upper Broadway and was big Latin Jazz fan.

i watch every single one of Chris’ videos. He’s had a pretty up and down ride the last year after getting fired by barstool sports. Nice to see him happy for once

“The times they are changing” reference, Stix would love that, guy quoting Bob Dylan 1964 60 years later.

In order of importance to me right now:

    Mets make the playoffs

    Padres win the division

Bobby Witt Jr passes Judge in Total Bases, thus giving himself a chance to win MVP

Although I was one of them because the World Series ends at midnight, way too late in the year, not sure why fans oppose wild card races. Technically, I’ve lived to “see” pre-expansion baseball, ten team leagues vying for a pennant, best of five league championship series/World Series (my favorite), best of seven and seven, six divisions/two WC (least favorite b/c of the godawful 14-16 team leagues), WC games/best of five/seven/seven (2nd favorite), and the current format with full interleague regular season schedules (would be better with one game WC playoffs)

Thanks for posting Craig! Video was fun. I still remember some of the early ones you posted. Funny!

yeah, that dude should probably not define his mood so much by how his teams are doing. Not healthy for his blood pressure

Weren’t we all as passionate once upon a time?

  6. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on September 17, 2024 at 2:55 pm

Yeah, maybe at one time Chuck but now this team isn’t even worth turning the TV set on for when you know they’re so predictable not going any fucking runsWe We Score we win that’s a laugh, now its like :We get a hit before six that’s a moral victory..

Good luck to this dude Chris for his obsession with his Tigers trying to get in the W/C spot, but he’s going to have a brain aneurysm after he blows a gasket while they carting him away in a straight jacket if they don’t..

orange and black botched pop up, but not us!

  10. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 17, 2024 at 4:38 pm

Slater, still in orange and black, still striking out to beat the band. He’s striking out for the Orioles at a 32% clip in 28 game appearances.

I didn’t even know Cincy dumped him so fast — didn’t take ’em long — 3 weeks. Why’d it take so long with the Giants?

  11. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 17, 2024 at 4:39 pm

what a key for McCray just to get on base. Scored run from 2b on Yaz hit, now steals a bag and scores on hit from Walton. Walton also had diving stop earlier. Guy is doing all he can to make Giants take notice.

  12. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 17, 2024 at 4:39 pm

    Whoa.

Giants stole second (McCray) and the next hitter (Walton) singled him in immediately. That can actually be done?

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 17, 2024 at 5:17 pm

McCray got on again, and before he could try a steal, Walton hits into a double play. Huh? WTF? Why not let McCray try to steal again?

Another gem for Snell. 6 frames, 1 hit, 12Ks on 90+ pitches.

He is so outta here in the off season.

Hope the Pen can bring this one home…

  14. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 17, 2024 at 5:26 pm

Whoosh! 12 Ks for Snell, 1 hit 2 BBs 0 runs in 6. Love that fastball, hitting 98 with it at the end.

O’s beat writer said last 12 starts Snell has ERA of 1.45.

  15. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 17, 2024 at 6:08 pm

Wow good for the kids at bottom of order, adding on here in 9th. Great night for McCray. padres pitching made them look bad but they are bouncing back tonight vs. 84 win O’s team fighting for first place.

Great to see Giants teeing off on Kimbrel. 8-0.

  17. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 17, 2024 at 6:20 pm

    Juggernaut Giants.

Amazing what speed can do. They need 3 more McCrays next season…

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 17, 2024 at 7:10 pm

As long as he can get on base. Coming in BB rate was 3% ML average is 8%. K rate 41% ML average 22.5%. Tonight he is on base 4 times and scores 3. Billy Hamilton effect–doesn’t matter how fast you are if you are always walking back to dugout from the batters box.

  18. xoot's avatar xoot said, on September 17, 2024 at 6:21 pm

one week’s quota of runs in one game, maybe, but the Giants played well. Fun to watch. Can Buster reel in Snell? He’s a helluva a pitcher.

  19. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 17, 2024 at 9:26 pm

Underdog night . Giants hammer O’s, Rockies beat DBax again at Coors 8-2, Marlins score 11 runs off Dogs beleaguered pitching staff and win 11-9. Reds knock off Braves 6-5. Tigers win but so do Twins.

Went to the Angels game tonight. Saw loss # 116.

10 games left for ChiSox. Even if they go 5-5 ( a unlikely event) they will break the 62 Mets record of 120 loses!

Giants have won by a combined 23-2 in Snell’s last two starts, why would he want to leave?
