Who Are We Rooting for?
I think I want to see a Dodgers/Yankees World Series. I know that’s disgusting to some of you but I hate Cleveland and who wouldn’t want to see LA lose another World Series?

Yeah, why not, the two “evil empires” going at it, should at least be good baseball. I think the last time they met was ’81?
mm usually before any playoffs can be enjoyed there is one team that has to be eliminated. In this case it’s LA. Hasn’t everyone heard enough about them already? they’re still favorites rumored to get every expensive FA on market.
Nothing against Guards they are kind of cool team. like Jose Ramirez and local guy Steven Kwan plus Cobb and Vogt. Mets and Diaz are definitely watchable, and often on brink of disaster.
The Mets stunned the world by winning Game 2. It’s an actual series now. Do the Mets have enough to win four games? Well, I hope so. But I do think the Yankees can beat the Dodgers. And either way, one of those two evil empires will be ending the season on an unhappy note, which is good to know.
Hey, about three weeks until we find out which direction our nation is going to go. Well, ain’t that a bit nerve-wracking.
Or is it “nerve-racking”? Either way of spelling, not fun.
It’s appalling that the election is so close.
Biden is a senile, passive-aggressive fuckwad, Harris needs to distance herself from him on foreign policy: Fully support Ukraine, reign in and ultimately remove Netanyahu. In her upcoming appearance on Fox, she needs to ask Baier a question for every answer she gives.
“Why are Trump’s former Sec of Defense, Vice President, and Chief of Staff voting for me?”
”Why is Fox News taking sides with Russia against the United States Government and our NATO allies?”
”Why the fuck didn’t the Giants fire Zaidi last year?”
The Liberty and the Lynx are tied at 1-1 so far in the WNBA finals. The TV ratings for the games are about double the ratings from last year’s finals, from about 600,000 to 1.1 million. Clearly part of the “Clark ripple effect.” Clark’s last playoff game of the season drew 2.5 million viewers. A lot of people got to know the league this season because of her, obviously, and learned more about Stewart and Collier, and others.
It’s exciting for the Golden State Valkyries to be starting next season. I think the team will get great support. Bay Area fans will embrace them, I’m sure.
The way the expansion draft will work is each team gets to protect only six players on their roster. So the Valkyries should get a relatively decent expansion draft. They only get the fifth pick in the college draft, unfortunately. The league is going to give the first four picks to the four teams that missed the playoffs. (8 of the 12 made the playoffs.) I’m assuming it’ll be 8 of the 13 making the playoffs next season. And the season after that, the WNBA is adding two more teams, making a total of 15. I’m hoping the number of playoff teams will still remain at 8. Anymore than 8 out of 15 seems ridiculous to me.
V’s coach Nakase is well known in Asian basketball community. She played in a tournament when she was in HS called “North-South”, set up every August by members of Asian club team orgs, though not limited only to those who played on travel teams. I’ve been an assistant couple times, lot of fun and good basketball. rotates every year for host venue at each HS grade level.
Speaking of above saw note in Chron that Santa Clara women’s basketball is looking for new coach, and column mentioned 2 prominent assistants already there–Kerri Nakamoto and Kristin Iwanaga. Both played HS ball for powerhouse Archbishop Mitty team that had 4 D1 players on it( including daughter Rometra of Niners Roger Craig) and have roots in Asian rec leagues and club teams. This school almost always gets to State Open championship though they have lost last 2.
Ms. Iwanaga still holds some 3 point and true shooting records at Cal.
It would be a lot more fun to see the Dodgers lose another NLCS, though it’s unlikely that will happen.
Although I resisted the third WC team and 3 game series, I’ve got to admit the last two years have been thoroughly entertaining. That probably has more to do with how all the injuries post-covid have leveled the playing field somewhat. If the Mets or Guardians get in it’ll be because of their relative health and intangible elements that can be discerned but not measured with statistics. Chemistry is fun.
Chapman and Bailey both GG finalists. If they both win, it’ll be a boost similar to Timmy’s CY in 08.
oh. Yaz is a finalist too. 50/50 on that one. What if they don’t re sign him.
Pitching coach Bryan Price retired. Baggs story in TA, brief mention MLBTR.
They’ll probably play at one of the minor league parks or in Miami, but if I were Oakland, I would give them a call for shit and giggles.

Hey, they tried to steal the Giants, so go for it.
Anyone but LA. I want them out now rather than later. Yanks wouldn’t bother me that much. The Guardicles would be cool to see win.
Going with the Mets.
My hatred started at birth with the Dodgers when my parents had me decked out in orange &black in my crib! Fuck LA hope the usual Roberts choke job continues and they get eliminated by the Mets..
AM walk revealed Shake Shack going in nearby. Any reviews?
My niece up in Reno didn’t think much-of it up in Reno. Shake Shack she thought it was nothing special, I know they have one in Hillsdale Mall,..I guess this new one is in Palo Alto when I get down that way I like Kirk’s Steakburger in Town&Country shopping center, a variety of burgers 🍔..
Yeah AK there’s a Kirk’s near me, like it.
The Steak & Shake in Tallahassee sucks.
Guardicles have left 10 guys on in 4+ innings or some shit.
A run!
They got Cole out of there, sacks loaded again.
i love Hill. Mike laCoss lookalike
His teammates (probably actually Krukow) nicknamed LaCoss “Buffy” because they thought he looked like the red-haired boy in the TV show “Family Affair.” Buffy was actually the girl in the show, and the red-haired boy was Jody. But Krukow wasn’t going to let facts get in the way of a good nickname.

The little girl that played Buffy (Anissa Jones) sure ended up with a tragic short life passing away of a drug overdose at 18 in Oceanside Ca ..
Bronny James isn’t really qualified to be in the NBA. At best he should start playing in the G League. It’s hard to see how he can help the Lakers this season.
He played tonight vs. Warriors in preseason game. Missed 2 wide open 3s then made layup. As Greg Anthony said, needs reps before Lakers figure out what he can do maybe by next year. He’s not very big, 6-1 or 6-2.
Yeah, at that height he needed to be more talented.
