They’re Back!
One of the final conversations I had with Katie’s grandpa George was about Juan Soto. I was telling him about the signing and he smiled. As I watched that ball sail deep into the night I couldn’t help but feel a little sad that he’s missing all this. Biggest Yankee fan I ever knew.
What a year for the Yanks so far.
Soto and Judge combined for 99 HRs in the regular season, that is just plain nuts.
Yeah, most of other starters beside Stanton were in teens for HRs-Wells Verdugo Volpe Torres no one had more than 15. Most of these guys and rest of team were average to below league average hitters.
Shea began column in Chron noting that Mets Yanks and Dodgers were the top 3 spending teams in all baseball. How significant is that? Any way around that?
Seems that’s not the normal way of things; most years, some low- to mid-budget teams are there at the end, not all the big spenders. Seems about right that the richest teams would in fact meet at the end at least now and then. As I said before, for all the moaning about Yanks and Dodgers *buying* championships, it just doesn’t happen very often.
Probably not.
But I’m ready for the Giants to try it! Haha.
Soto would be awesome with the Giants but as we all know it’s smoke&mirrors when he comes to the Giants signing a Superstar franchise player..But who knows under Posey it would be his refining biggest splash! What do you think 6/300 mil enough lol 😂
Soto RF LeeCF Ramos LF gets me excited atleast..
shea’s such a bottom feeder. Payrolls have surged. Ten (including the Giants at number ten) topped 200K this year. The NY teams went over 300K. Bums Phillies and Astros are bunched together. Chance alone favors the big spenders.
Soto would have zero reason to consider the Giants. You see how much fun he’s having? He wouldn’t have that here. And they’ll pay him whatever he wants.
Soto has a slightly better chance of signing with the Giants than I do…
After watching poor Cal drop another heartbreaker yesterday on chip shot missed FG, took a look at how ex Pac 12 teams are doing in their new conferences. Teams not named Oregon are 12-26 in league play, not counting cupcake non league games. Utah AZ USC UCLA Cal and Stanford all have no more than 1 W.
Wilcox has pretty much worn out his 8 year welcome at Cal. Lots of bad coaching and game / play decisions being made. Assistant coaching issues. You should not be changing FG kickers mid-season unless due to injury. ASU having the same problem. The problem is what kind of coach will come to Cal. Big problem is debt service out there on the stadium rehab of 10 years ago. The change to ACC is not going to help that problem, and once this ACC business craps out, and it will down the road because of travel issues, what is the next step — some Pac12 redux with lesser-named programs that generate low interest. Stanfurd in similar quandary but at least don’t have the stadium debt issue…
That is truly a shame. Soon as I heard their planning to move I thought it would come back and bite them in the ass. Both Cal and Stanford are storied teams that have continually produced good football players it’s hard to see their current situation. I know it’s rare but I have been a lifelong fan of both teams.
Chiefs plus 2.5 is the best bet of the season.
With that ridiculous short rightfield in Yankee Stadium, Yankee HR totals are always a little bogus. A little, at least.
The deciding game in the WNBA finals tonight is up against Dodgers/Mets and an NFL game. The sports landscape can get congested sometimes.
Liberty’s Stewart had a nightmare shooting % in the previous game. She went 5 for 21 and her team lost by 2 points. She probably bounces back strong today, and the Liberty win it pretty handily.
The NFL game tonight involves the Jets, and with the Mets playing at the same time, the Liberty makes three NY teams playing at the same time.
Niners off to a rough start.
Why didn’t Shanahan go for two there?
Because he’s an idiot.
And, why did he run the ball at the end of the second half with 25 seconds left, 3rd and 1, no timeouts left, where if you get stuffed, your field goal is in jeopardy with limited time to get the kicking team on the field and get the kick off. If you throw instead, into the end zone, worst case is the clock stops on an incomplete pass, and you have plenty of time to kick — best case is you score a TD. Ridiculous play call…
this new kicker fits right in.
why aren’t they better prepared to have shortish Purdy rushed by D with arms up?
Hard to win against a really good team when your starting 3 wideouts are not playing. I get that. But, Niners really looked bad on offense notwithstanding that. Defense was not horrible. Special teams were. Niners not looking like a playoff team. CMC is a massive cog missing in the Niners wheel…
Five straight losses to the Chiefs is a bummer. The rest of the NFL is having a lot of trouble with the Chiefs, too, though.
Ah, that’s the Manaea I remember.
Dodgers vs. Yankees. The baseball world gets the match-up it most wanted.
Unwatchable
No, the advertisers and the league get the matchup they want.
Crap start by Manaea.
Aiyuk likely has an ACL, out for the season.
There goes $30 million.
Looks like a bad penny year for the Niners…
Augh.. If we beat the Cowboys season 1/2 over and SF .500. Looking more like the Giants. Middle of the road team we are hoping will play better at the end. Only difference is we play in a lousy division..
It’s official.
Doghairs vs Yankmees…
Jesus. The defense finally stepped up and played their asses off.
And Purdy just fucking blows chunks. Yeah, he lost all his WRs. But the pick in the end zone was just flat terrible. He missed passes and was spooked most of the time. For no reason.
But yeah, holding calls killed drives, TWO offsides penalties inside the 10. Aiyuk with a drive-killing drop. These guys play like this is preseason week 1.
The amazing thing is the 49er offense had the ball for maybe 5 minutes of the 1st half and were still in the game down 1 score. The D still gave up too many 3rd downs, but the offense was awful.
This fucking season is gonna be a wash and we are not likely to be better next year.
Shanahan may get his marching orders if this shit keeps up. This was again a fucking badly called game by him. He can’t get out of his own way.
