Oh my, thanks. Flav and the stunning Ms. Andie B at BC in Del Mar. Wondered if you had opportunity to go. Great day of racing yesterday and more to come.
Uplifting story in Chron about Cal transfer basketball player Mady Sissoko. He came to this country from Mali at age 15, eventually wound up at Michigan State and used his NIL $ with some assistance from others to set up non profit so that he can help build school for his small town (nearest is 90 minute walk), a well, medical facility for pregnant women and another medical building for everyone.
Kind of thing that gives you hope for the world we live in.
Like PIA 4:05 post yesterday. At least give Minasian a chance to do something before we make any judgement. Saw something from Kyle Haines noting how fast not just Giants but other young players are being promoted these days, and he found it alarming.
I think Posey does too and like us is disappointed too many Giants were unprepared and overwhelmed at ML level last season and too often unable to avoid fundamental mistakes. Sure they got look at Wisely Schmitt Matos Luciano (still only 22) and Fitz but results mixed at best.
Poster child for me is McCray. He struck out a lot in minors in past 3 years per BR and not surprisingly didn’t improve facing ML pitching–130 plate appearances 6 BBs 56 Ks. As a speed guy he had OB of .238 and BA of .202. He didn’t make much contact and has lot of swing and miss at the plate-Billy Hamilton effect, fastest guy out there who is walking back to dugout. Despite all the athleticism you want as CF just not ready to be ML hitter unless you are tanking. Like others needs more seasoning and has to adjust.
Good for Wilmer if his knee and assorted ailments heal up I believe Mr.Ed still has value off the bench.Last year was rough on him and of course the mysterious situation with Estrada the Giants fucked him over hard. Wilmer Flores has been clutch ever since he put a Giants uniform on and a clubhouse presence this team will still need and 3.5 chump change, but I’m guessing Wilmer wouldn’t of got a better offer as a F/A so I’m glad he opted in.

Flavien Prat and Sierra Leone win $7 million race from far back in pack. Trip to watch him pass all those horses and hold off Fierceness in stretch Amazing ride
Not in on Kim still rehabbing from his shoulder surgery and will be out an extended of time to start the season, don’t need want a player already injured to sign, plus he’s not nearly as good as Willy Adames with his power numbers..
Hey, if Donnie Barrels can still do his thing, I guess we can keep Flores around. I just think they have to get power at 1st, a solid IFer (SS or 2nd base), and a stud pitcher out of this free agency. Like, big name guys. Pete Alonzo. Gleyber Torres, Willie Adames. Shit, get Manaea back. Along with a couple pen guys.
Otherwise, we are still doing the same thing we’ve been doing for the last 8 years. And that’s getting rehabbing guys on opt-out deals.
We just have way too much middling Yaz-type guys who would be good role-fillers on a good team, but are depended on too much on a barely .500 team.

Pretty much agree with all of that. I’d also add a mini-stud OFer. It won’t be Soto, but it could be someone who’s better than any OFer on the current roster.

Great pic!
Wilmer takes his player option at $3.5M.
Hmm. Kinda forgot about him, figured he was done, sadly…

He has indeed been an excellent Giant.

Kim just became available. Along with decision on Flores/1b, see what happens.

these two GG awards remind me of Lincecum’s CY in 08. Beats the hell out of nothing.
