So All They Did Was Add Adames? Cry More
Ah…give a little stretch…and a bend. Cracking my knuckles…..yes, let’s go. It is time. Why not? There are a lot of Negative Nelly’s out there right now. “Oh no! All we did was add Adames! Look at the Dodgers!!!!” Pipe down, Nelly’s. This team is much better than it was last year. Don’t believe me? Go back and look at the opening day roster in 2024. Nick Ahmed was our starting shortstop. Keaton Winn was in the rotation. Jordan Hicks was primed for a quick burst of success before his reliever-arm caught up with him. Snell was awful for the first half of the season because he came to camp out of shape. Doval was a terrible closer. Soler was a joke of a DH who hated every minute that he was here. We had Jung Hoo Lee for what? A month? Austin Slater got at bats. The list goes on and on……
2025? Hell yeah, sign me up. Start with no more Farhan. That right there has to be worth 5 wins. I love the Verlander addition, he’s throwing 96 so whatever HGH he’s taking keep taking it. Maybe he’s just motor boating those big beautiful titties more frequently, who knows? Robbie Ray is finally healthy. Hicks has got a year of starting under his belt. I fucking love Roupp. And in the bullpen everyone except that submariner throws 96+. And just imagine for a moment if Doval gets his head straight.
First base is a huge problem. I have no faith in that old-man platoon they are planning on carting out there. But that can get fixed with a trade at some point. And I’m fine with the hitting. Adames, obviously. But Ramos could hit 30 bombs this year. And gimmie a season of a healthy JHL. Outside of first base I love all our hitters.
And here’s a little under-appreciated fact: we’ve got almost no left handed batters. That’s been my dream for years and years. Fuck the left handed in our park.
So yeah, I’m excited. My daughter and I have pivoted on our plan to move out of the area and we moved to Redwood Shores. Back to the Shores for me, I lived here 1999–2003. Love being back here. And it’s way more convenient to get to Giants games from here than where we lived in Los Altos Hills. Back to the Shores. Back to the Flap. And back to Giants baseball, baby. Let’s fucking go!!!!!!!!

New city connect uniform is awesome, too.
goddammit.
New City Connect Unis look like something Carson created as a kid in the 80’s high on shrooms

And Harrison sent to Triple-A! Jerar injury is a bummer. Welcome back!
I thou anoint my first 2025 comment to the Flap . . . Outstanding post Craig! Giants are in 1st place and they did it without playing a game. Congratulations on your move. Me too – to Washington State (in the midst of packing as I type this). Looking forward to getting out of this State, as the California Fair Plan (NOT!) raised my fire insurance one too many times ($6500, coupled with the other coverages, approx. $8.2k annually). Conversely, I will be paying $1k total annually for this home near Spokane . . . https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/60842-Lake-Spokane-Dr-Nine-Mile-Falls-WA-99026/333817723_zpid/
Go Giants! See ya this summer snarkk . . .
Oh good luck Blade. Spokane area is long time home to aunt of my godson, and she loves it. My sister who is near Burbank (no fire damage) has been at war with insurance companies on home she owns and can’t wait to leave California either.
Safe travels!
Thank you Willie. You ever visit your Spokane aunt, you’re welcome to crash at my home. Plenty of room and as the town (Nine Mile Falls) denotes, it is only 9 miles from Spokane. By the by, LA fires were the final catalyst for me moving. I really doubt I will be lucky as I was 3 years ago, when the Caldor fire forced everyone in this area to evacuate for 30 days (fortunately, I was on a road trip to Colorado visiting friends).
Thanks Flav, glad to see blog up and rolling. Yes Giants should be much improved for pitching and defense. Offense still has ? but adding at least Adames will be big help.
Caught last couple innings of Tuesday game with Tigers. Fitz (who had homered earlier 375 foot shot to LF) walked stole 2b with 2 outs in 8th and came in to score on single up middle from McCray (!) who also scored after ringing double to deep left from Koss, backup SS. keep an eye on this guy in Sac–he might be developing into productive backup at the least, maybe more.
Doval started 8th with 2 run lead and promptly gave up 3 singles, all off slider. He got lucky on last one, because McCray missed cut off man and throw landed way up 3rd base line but Huff picked it up and gunned down batter (Manuel Margot) trying to take 2nd. Doval then K’d next hitter with awesome slider in dirt and got last out on grounder to 3b to keep lead.
I still don’t see command of anything, and he didn’t throw the 100 mile heat, only slider and cutter that was 96-97 but all over the place.
Walker got first 2 outs in 9th then gave up deep drive to RF alley that Matos got to after long run…but ball dropped out of his glove while he reached up for it for triple. Walker then got final out on well hit ball to LF to secure 4-3 W.
Torture. Get used to it.
I never ever bet futures on sports outside of a random Kentucky Derby future bet now and again but I DID make a future bet on the Giants this year. Over 80.5 wins seems like a lock to me even though I get that injuries can ruin a team, circumstances, etc….Just put down $250 just to have a stake on that bet that I think is a lock
you put a bet down…. Oh really?
my Oregonian bookie put a bet down for me.
lol

Yay the Flap is back. I also have much more hope for a good year in 25 vs 24. I love our pitching, and think we will hang around till the end battling for a WC spot. I heard a lot of chatter about Posey creating a ” baseball” mentality. More stills, more fundamental baseball. Bodes well for the future. Hopefully less chatter from US about how players in our system don’t know how to play! Went to Scottsdale for the weekend 2 weeks ago and saw us win some games. Fun. Will be at all 3 SF vs Angels games in a few weeks. Go Giants!
Great to see the Flap is back, baby.. thanks, Craig. Hope all Flappers had a wonderful offseason. Pretty much agree with everything you said, and am excited to see what they can do playing Buster Ball. Certainly could’ve done more in the offseason — agree about 1st base, Eldridge looks at least a year away, and they could’ve had Goldschmidt or even Alonso, considering what those 2 signed for in the end. They probably didn’t do more because there are a bunch of younger’uns to look at, and I think that’s what this year mostly is for, and that’s cool, especially if someone is a surprise breakout. Starting pitching could be excellent, and hitting looks way better than last year. Looking forward to this.
Nice thread to get the 2025 Flap rolling.
I feel good, 89 wins good. Less errors in the infield to start the year has to make the team at least 4 wins better than last year. Adames added, Ramos starting, less revolving positions, a settled starting 5, and a lights out pen can get us the other 5 wins above last year.
Go Giants, and let the good times roll, Flappers.
