Wilmet Comes Through Again!
I had the text all typed out. “Wilmet is Worthless!!!!!”
As I sat in my car listening to the game on the radio my finger hovered above the send button…..
And then Wilmet did it. He blasted one to left and I had to sheepishly erase the text I was going to send to Loo and San Dawg and write something more positive.
What a way to start a season…….
by the way, Miller seems to have a new bomb call. He goes “Big fly! booooom!!!!!” Not sure if he’s still going with Adios Pelota for the Latin guys but Flores is from Venezuela and he still went “Big fly, boom” for his bomb.

The entire rally off Reds closer was great, capped off by bomb from Wilmet. Fully admit Flores might still be done. Most fans in TA and Giants blogosphere were disappointed Encarnacion got hurt and Baggs thought he could be fill in OF corner if needed.
Only saw replay of it, but Ramos HR after 11 pitch AB was impressive. Last season he struggled vs. RHP to tune of .240/.286/.387 for .673 OPS while lighting up LHP .370/.439/.750 for 1.189 OPS. So challenge was going to be if you are in the lineup every day, how well can he handle steady diet of RHP? Last season he hit 12 HRs vs. RHP in 3 times as many ABs as he took vs. LHPs, whom he pounded for 10.
getting Giants on board with oppo blast even in Great Am small park is great to see.
A healthy Wilmet just might prove that he’s worth every penny. And, if Ramos can have at bats against right handers like that we just might really have something. I honestly get the feeling that this years team is nothing like last years. Of course it’s only one game but you gotta start somewhere.
FWIW, the defense this spring looked a lot better than all of last year.
