A Rare Bay Area Team Loss
Didn’t see the game but Webby giving up 9 hits? Guess he wasn’t missing a lot of bats. I’m not really getting this Pivetta thing. He’s certainly starting off the year great, doubt he can keep this going though.
More Bay Area Winning
Good test in San Diego. Dubs continue their magical run through…..the first round. LOL. It feels like they’ve been in the playoffs for a month already.
Webby tonight.
Another Walk Off
if you guys missed the Jon Miller call on that little league home run check it out here.
Man, lemme tell you, I’m not taking times like these for granted. The Giants winning all these heart attack games, the Dubs somehow reaching down and finding secret old magic for one last run. The Oaks this Friday. The Derby on Saturday. It’s just so fucking great right now…..
lol, enjoy the Korean call of this…
The SF Gritty’s
They did it again. Gritted out a win. Grinded. Whatever you want to call it. Koss with a perfect bunt. Bailey just ending that shit immediately. Wonderful win. I’m not complaining about being 18-10 and in first place in the NL West, but maybe we could start hitting a little more?
Looking Back on September 2013
Yuck. Ugly game. But it did seem like my boy Walker figured something out so that’s good. I firmly believe he’s our best option at closer. Head Case is awesome…….until someone gets on base.
In the midst of UncaChuck’s wild bday celebration he took the lamp shade off long enough to check in yesterday. He noted that the pic of us was the same day Unca and San Dawg discovered their kids were dating. That still qualifies as the wildest coincidence I’ve ever seen in my life. Two kids who grew up in totally different areas of California, with two dads who had never met, start dating only to find out that their dads, randomly, are two Flap hall of famers. It’s impossible to put into words how surreal that moment was at the time.
He’s Baaaack
Bochy ambling back into town, if that does anything for ya. The Rangers are coming off a brutal loss to the Sacramento team. Eovaldi can be tough at times. I still like our chances in this series.
Big Happy Birthday to a Flap Hall of Famer, UncaChuck!
We Have A Huge Problem
This is starting to get messy. Hopefully there is something physically or mechanically wrong with Walker because if this is mental we now have 2 head cases in the bullpen at the most critical time of the game. Thank God Melvin didn’t let him blow another game.
Today, back in 2017……

But actually I’m wondering if that was snapped even earlier than 2017. Maybe I just re-posted it then? Thoughts?
Well, That Didn’t Work….
What would you rather have happen, lose 11-10 as the Dodgers did or 11-3 as we did? Trivino is going to be an important cog in our bullpen this year, let’s not hold one bad outing against him. Hicks needs to get his shit together.
Back To The Land of the W’s
Great bounce back win. I am not into this Doval stuff, he is only good when he’s good. When things go sideways he goes with the *things*. He’s like deck chairs inside a cruise ship navigating through a hurricane. No thank you. Walker has great stuff and the right temperament for the job.
And I’d keep Bird Dog where he is. With all these 5 and divers we’ve got he is going to be an indispensable super weapon as the season wears on…..
Utterly Disgusting
I was talking to my mom with the game on mute, I figured this one was in the bag and it was a good time for a Happy Easter call with one eye still on the game. After O’Hoppe got a hit I was like “mom I gotta call you back…”
And then when he hit Neto on a 1-2 pitch I just shook my head, you could feel the game was over at that point.
Just an awful, terrible loss. No other way to dress that one up.
And yes, I called my mom back……
Happy Easter Fellas
“If it’s players you want to worry about it’s not Adames , It’s Wade &Bailey for me ..”–AK
Bailey is just not a hitter. His .230ish batting average across his first 2 seasons seems to be who he is. If the defense is good, and it’s been spotty this season for sure, I’m not too worried about him. Wade on the other hand is a big concern. We got lucky with Wilmet but with Wade it just seems like the sun has set on him. Still very weird that the Giants decided to go into the season with such an underwhelming platoon at first base…..
Long Roadie
Irritating loss but not all together surprising. They’ve been slingshoting around the country, it’s bullshit that they come all the way back from the east coast and they’re still on the road.
Wasted a goodie by Webby.
Hicks Better Be On Top Of His Game
Huff and Koss for the loss? That’s quite a duo locking down the 8/9 holes. Who knows? All we do is play hard and good things usually happen when you play hard.
Verlander
I liked the Verlander signing and I still do. You have to take him for what he is at this stage of his career. And the velocity is still there. As is the experience which is invaluable to this staff. But he’s 42 freaking years old. It was so obvious he was leaking oil in the 6th inning. He was well into 90 pitches headed to 104. Melvin completely screwed that up by leaving him in too long.
And that’s not Monday morning quarterbacking. It was obvious to anyone with eyes that he needed to go get him.
Verlander can be a very effective 5 and dive guy at this point in his career. Use him the right way and he’ll help us this year.
Philling Up Our Win Total
Caught most of that game at the Peppermill. Those tv’s are insane. Literally 25 feet high. Can’t underestimate what the team is doing right now. Going down 3-0 in the first inning ON THE ROAD? Eh, no problem, we’ll just drop a 6 spot on the in the next frame.
There is such a confidence about this team right now. Fun to watch.
Cigarillo Time
We smoked those chumps like….eh, you get the idea. I implore anyone to find the Korean announcers do the Lee homeruns from yesterday. I heard the one from Friday and it was hilarious. Hope this dude can stay healthy, he’s a fun watch, not to mention the best hitter we have on the team right now.
No Smoking Zone
Uh, looks like the old lady from the 70’s took a break from smoking her cigarillo. I’m out of town for several days but I’ll try to get a thread up for you guys every day. Webby today.
No Surprise
The Yankees are very good. Against bad pitching. Which there is a lot of in baseball. So they win a lot of games. And then they get to the post season, face good pitching, and Judge cobbles together a career .205 batting average. That’s why I was confident we would smoke those fools this weekend. And we will continue to smoke them. Smoke them like an old lady smoked a cigarillo in the 70’s……
Yankees!
Doubt they play today, there is a lot of rain in the forecast. Who knows. If they do play I am extremely confident we win, at least confident we take this series. We have better pitching than they do and we are better defensively. They’ve got those bats. Big deal. Good pitches will render those bats weak and meaningless.
Hey, any Flap HOFers gone back to Finnerty’s yet? What’s it like?
Statement Game
I got in my car, flipped on KNBR and it was Kuip (or Miller I forget who) saying “And Trevino walks the #9 hitter walking in a run and now the Reds lead 6-1.” Oddly, I wasn’t really deterred. I had a long drive in front of me, why not keep listening? And I’m glad I did. Slowly they chipped away with Wilmet finally tying the game 6-6 with yet another bomb he snuck around the left field foul pole.
Screw this, I’m finding a place to watch the game. So I pulled off the freeway and got there just in time to catch the 9th and 10th. Watching Yaz stand there in his “night night” pose was a thing of beauty.
Pfffttttt…..
Well, at least we’re still pitching great. Bats go cold, it happens. I believe in this pitching staff though so I’m guessing this all sorts itself out soon enough. I will say that getting shutdown by Greene and Lodolo is not anything to be embarrassed about.
No Mas
I’m over Doval. It’s not just last night although that was infuriating. It’s that this dude is only good when….he’s good. He can’t work with runners on base. He’s got no pick off move and can’t pitch effectively with a slide step. And then there is the obvious head case factor which is evident to anyone who watches him. So…what are we even doing here? Those things aren’t going to change. And there is no inning that doesn’t count so I don’t really see the point of sending him into less leveraged innings.
Swept in San Francisco
Who would have thought we’d be in first place after the first nine games? A 2.84 team ERA sure does help. Man, I’d like to have a team full of Victor Robles’. He’s my new favorite player in the American League. What an effort. I hope he’s ok. They need to do something about that webbing down there. I mean goddamn, why does it have to go all the way down anyway?
Laying Waste
I didn’t in fact go to the game but got to watch it on tv and I’m just still so excited about how this year has started. Kinda figured Ray would be focused up with that revenge opportunity and what Chapman is doing with the bat and the glove is remarkable. If we can just stay healthy we have a shot at 3rd place in the NL West lqtm
Man, to be young again. My nephew is 22 and living in the city with 2 of his buddies. All single. They have an apartment with a rooftop that overlooks Coit Tower and the Bay Bridge. Unreal stuff.

Gangbusters
This season is starting off just as I’d hoped and it’s really been fun to watch the guys come together and play like this. I got an irate text from San Dawg as soon as Bailey’s smashed ball bounced off the bricks. He’s long been a proponent of bringing the fences in.
I’m gonna be in the City today helping my nephew move into his new place and if it takes longer than I think it’s gonna take I might stroll into Oracle like a goddamn boss and catch the game…..
Happy Opening Day!
Not going or even watching it, work then my mom is in town so we’re gonna get a drink somewhere. Hope to catch the last inning or two with her at Rossotti’s.
You know, this 5-1 start really is impressive. Cincinnati and Houston are not easy places for us to play considering the type of team we have (pitching/defense/suspect hitting). And what’s Adames hitting? A buck 30? And we are still 5-1.
I couldn’t be any more excited about this season…..
Nice Start
You know it’s a tough division when you start the season 5-1 and yet you’re mired in 3rd place. Dodgers, Pads and us start out the season 20-1. That’s insane.
But look, a better road trip to start the season we could not have had. Now an off day to heroically return to Oracle before we get to feast on Seattle.
LFG
Hicks And His Hot Licks
i was a big skeptic of Hicks last year just because he’d never started before and I knew he’d hit a wall at some point after he blew past his career innings total. He was actually worse than I thought he’d be, he pretty much fell apart once Summer hit. But goddamn it’s hard not to be excited about him after what we saw last night. And there’s legit cause for optimism with last year under his belt AND the 20 pounds of muscle he put on over the off season.
Webby tonight…..
