Laying Waste
I didn’t in fact go to the game but got to watch it on tv and I’m just still so excited about how this year has started. Kinda figured Ray would be focused up with that revenge opportunity and what Chapman is doing with the bat and the glove is remarkable. If we can just stay healthy we have a shot at 3rd place in the NL West lqtm
Man, to be young again. My nephew is 22 and living in the city with 2 of his buddies. All single. They have an apartment with a rooftop that overlooks Coit Tower and the Bay Bridge. Unreal stuff.

Jackson St? My friend’s daughter and her BF live near there. They are moving down by the ballpark soon. And they are getting married.
I have no idea what SF looks like anymore. I guess it should still be fun for the younger generation. I know it takes a lot of money to ive there. It will always be my favorite city but I doubt very much is still the same as it was. Last times I spent any real time there was in the late 90’s and it had changed quite a bit even then.
Anyone know this years Giants slogan if they even have one?
The new slogan is “Farhan who ?” …
Lol. Definitely a breath of fresh air.

Thanks, that’s a good one.
If Hicks is anything close to his last start, he’ll blow these guys away. Matos and Koss getting starts today.
10 pitches in and the ump has missed 4.
yeah, not quite like his last start.
Hopefully it’s just 1st inning jitters. Besides the missed calls, Hicks has to get the ball down.
Right, he can’t afford any more mistakes. Woo looks like he is gonna be tough, throwing 97 fastball right by Giants hitters.
Great view Craig. I heard the new mayor when he was in the booth. Seems like a Giant fan. Moderate democrat. Just what the city needs to try and restore some of the cities lost luster!
Jesus this umpire is squeezing Hicks butthole hard with his strike zone..
“Farhan who?” is such tired narrative. he’s gone but so many of current players, not to mention management, are here because he brought them in.
Let’s start with Ray, acquired for DeSclafani and Haniger lol. Lee, who is now healthy and playing well. Chapman (3 year deal originally) who Posey extended. Hicks signed as FA.
Posey added 1 FA bat, much to chagrin of those who wanted more hitters and power. He kept Yaz (another frequent target) Wade Jr. and Flores (no Alonso or Goldschmitt etc.) at 1b and hasn’t done anything despite losing a 1b.
Play the kids? where did they come from–the much maligned farm has guys starting today Ramos Matos Koss (for Fitz another guy brought up last year) and Bailey. Not to mention all the young pitching. Walker and Rodriguez were signed/drafted 2017-18 and came up in the system, and Miller was acquired in trade last year. Birds was drafted 2022.
Beside Posey keeping Melvin another frequent target here, he also kept the scouting and farm directors from previous admin. Plus coaches Burrell and and Williams. Let the hate go and enjoy the holdovers we have.
Woo is putting the whammy on us. Pretty much coming right at us throwing strikes. Sooner or later we are gonna start hitting those. I hope.
good call Winder .. and here we go!
Hoo Baby.
Yaz!!!
Yazzzz!
Wow great AB from Ramos going to RF and then Yaz goes oppo bomb to LF with another Earl Weaver special.
Razzmatazz from Yaz. First 3 innings Giants looked helpless against Woo but 2nd time thru lineup in 4th Giants catching up to fastball. Btw, Giants currently have best record in all of baseball.
Got out of it. Get some more runs, Giants.
Doubled em up. Still would like to get another run or three.
Ground ball to Chapman, Koss turns it Miller is out of difficulty.
Nice job getting out of his own mess by Miller
Giants deftly squelched that potential comeback. Nice!
Ah shit.
Good play by Matos to limit them to 1 run.
I’m curious why Melvin baby’s Walker so much , he’s supposed to be your closer but can’t go back to back games?? Thought he was over his back tightness?
Oh well atleast it’s only tied, let’s win this game NOW!!!
That was a hell of an effort.
Wilmet strikes again!
Wilmet! Sweeep!
Talkin Mr Ed.
Wow, livin just enough for the city.
8 and 1.
SWEET SWEEP !!
Nothin Like It!
7straight wins best record in baseball at 8-1
Fuck LA&Padres!!
Nothing beats a Game Wilmet walkoff !!!
Willie, your “in defense of Farhan” post has merit. I said this a few days ago at the end of a dead thread: “This excellent start by the Giants seems to have at its core a different sort of buzz or mindset. All the players have talked about it, and they seem to playing loose and with a sense of fun. And yet, compared to last year’s team, the only new players of note are Adames and Verlander. That’s all. The only big difference is Buster replacing Z. Interesting to think that just that one change lifted some kind of weight from the team and has set loose what we’re watching so far.”
So, yeah, maybe it turns out Z had some good ideas about getting good players. I think his problem (and the players’ problem with Z) was his tendency to play with the lineups too much and the players just didn’t have a sense of stability with the constant revolving door (especially when Kapler was manager). When they got their chance, a lot of pressure to perform, etc. Clearly, now, the team feels lighter, maybe just psychologically that the team is now being run by a true baseballer, not a statistician. So far, the players are responding to that and having fun again at China Basin.
Health is also a big issue compared to last year. Lee so far looks wonderful and Z never found anyone to cover CF adequately 2024. Watching Matos out there the other day didn’t go well. Flores of course being ready to go has been amazing. Wade has been good defensively and I believe he’ll at least have high OB. I’m glad Posey didn’t spend $$ on Alonso or anyone else.
Same with all the pitchers that got hurt. snell was his own worst enemy, Cobb never pitched at all, Winn and Beck got hurt, Hicks ran out of steam etc. Scrambling for SPs turned into nightmare, with openers. Right now Giants have wealth of pitching options, SPs and in pen, with more on the way in Sac.
Good point about lineup stability-Melvin has solid group of 10 he likes and subs like Koss Schmitt and Huff rarely get in there.
Speaking of, Snell on the 15-day DL with shoulder inflammation.
But of course. A couple years from now, I won’t even remember he was on the team. Of course, I might not remember much else, either…
Oh well. Greene with a hell of a game. Webb did fine after throwing 33 pitches in the 1st.
Miller not so much.
