I’m over Doval. It’s not just last night although that was infuriating. It’s that this dude is only good when….he’s good. He can’t work with runners on base. He’s got no pick off move and can’t pitch effectively with a slide step. And then there is the obvious head case factor which is evident to anyone who watches him. So…what are we even doing here? Those things aren’t going to change. And there is no inning that doesn’t count so I don’t really see the point of sending him into less leveraged innings.

Agreed, same problems as last year, after being demoted to AAA for couple weeks and with all offseason and ST, sigh. He’s throwing slider more than ever because that’s only pitch he trusts. He doesn’t have command of harder stuff and after throwing 4 sliders to a hitter they can get after it when one of them catches too much of plate.
Btw continuing issues with pitch clock and inability to hold runners on, idk how you fix this. Maybe it’s mechanics, but I think issue is little north of there.
I wanted Posey to trade him offseason and saw comments elsewhere that was a mistake because Giants would be selling low, or that the arm is too good to give up on. I watched Padres closer R Suarez throwing 100 (for strikes) right by A’s last night and closing out 5-4 W for them in Sac. So far at Raley there have been 16 HRs hit in 4 games, 2 by each team last night.
That light show entrance thing they tried doing with Doval last year probably messed with his head some. Sure didn’t help.
I think they used it for Walker the other night. Saw a tweet about it. Wonder why they don’t feature it in the tv broadcast?🤣🤣🤣

Hah! Yeah i was at one of the early games when he came in and it was pretty ridiculous.

With him it’s the old adage “million dollar arm, 10 cent head”. Whether its focus or discipline or distractions, or whatever, he isn’t in the game mentally.
By now, these things he’s struggling with look like they cannot be fixed.
Doval hasn’t been up to snuff since the pitch clock started in use. I think it fundamentally messes with his head. I assume the coaches have been working with Doval in the offseason and Spring to fix this or whatever it was/is that is bothering him. It ain’t working. He can’t or won’t even try to hold runners, so giving up walks and hitting people means immediately a man on second unless the runner is using a cane. He’s got a 100 mph fastball, but heavily relies on the slider. It doesn’t make sense. Is Bailey calling for more fastballs and getting shook off? I can only guess Yes.
There are plenty of arms and heads that come with them that are itching to come up from Sac. I would let April pan out, bring Doval in no later than the 6th inning, or when the game is out of hand, one way or the other and see if he can pull up from this nosedive. If not, then it’s time somebody else gets his seat in the Pen. Use Birdsong now in leverage innings…

I kinda like the Psychedelic look it does remind me the summer of 60s hippies, it’s not nearly as bad as the orange ice creamsicle that made no sense.The bold lettering I’m not sure why they have purple? In them, but the large numbers in different colors( orange front,white back look sharp) as does the large orange letters for the players, which you couldn’t see in last year’s hideous uni’s..Glad they went with white pants..
