A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

A Rare Bay Area Team Loss

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 30, 2025

Didn’t see the game but Webby giving up 9 hits? Guess he wasn’t missing a lot of bats. I’m not really getting this Pivetta thing. He’s certainly starting off the year great, doubt he can keep this going though.

Another rough 1st inning for the starters.

While Giants hitting has fallen off to bottom 3-4 of NL for entire slash line numbers, pitching is still top 5. Team ERA is 4th…unfortunately Pads are 3rd. King goes today and he’s really good too.

Eno Sarris in TA had column about best fantasy SPs, ranking Webb #12 and said if his k pct stayed where it was he might win Cy. Roupp was #51. King was #18, Pivetta #30 Cease #14 right behind Webb. Pen is good too. 3 of 4 teams with best record in NL are in West.

didn’t see yesterday either but Adames said in Chron not lot of hard contact against Webb. Webb himself admitted walk was bad. Bogaerts bomb off Rodriguez ruined comeback.

Pads just managed to put the ball in play. They got lucky. But Webb lost command after Machado single put him into the stretch. Ump review of the game shows Webb getting two crucial strike calls in the bottom of the first, as well. So, could’ve been even worse.

    We don’t score

King is there best pitcher so my expectations were low on scoring any runs.Hell Giants haven’t even got a runner to second off him and only 1 hit isn’t going to cut it..

Finally got King out of there.

4 games at home vs. Brewers Giants scored 18 runs. since then…only 10 in 4 games plus 1 so far in 5th game.

Couple more HRs, that’s good to see.

gad, Chapman in big time slump. BA down to .198, and he’s worse than that vs. RHP: 14-83 (.169) with 30 Ks. Not what you want to see out of cleanup spot.

Buster’s failure to bring in a bat other than Adames is starting to show…

Yep. said it before, i woulda loved Pete Alonzo rather than the squadoosh we have at 1st base.

    Glad it’s only a 2 game series.

Wade may be a good dude in the clubhouse, but he’s not much at the plate. First base is not a position for a guy who is slow afoot, seems to always be hurting his leg(s), and whose biggest offensive asset is taking walks — which so far this season he hasn’t done much of. I’ve never been enamored with him. He’s a journeyman quality player in over his head in a traditional RBI-producer position — he needs to go at the end of this season, at the latest…

Well, that was a helluva entertaining first month of Giants baseball. But, things seem to be sliding back to reality. We seem to be mostly healthy in all departments. At home, this next series against Rox we need to show we are serious contenders by taking advantage of the low hanging fruit; at least 3 of the 4 against them is imperative.

Good to see the Warriors taking the night off and resting up for game 6.
