Swept
Post game, Flemming was complaining about all the tough starting pitchers the Giants have had to face this year. Man, pipe down. This is the major leagues, there are tough pitchers everywhere. Having said that, I’m not sure I’ve seen two hitters look more overwhelmed than Wade and Bailey looked against Suarez. Just completely annihilated.
Dubs better get Game 6 or this will be shaping up to be an all time NBA choke job.
Been so busy since last Thursday or Friday, that I have not seen a game or kept up with the Giants. Just read through the last few days . . . Guess, I am fortunate???
Hopefully, they’ll come around.
Chappie as well. 3-45 in his last 10 games. 2 RBIs .067.
May doesn’t look as challenging a schedule, starting with SF welcoming in awful Rox for 4. Giants pounded them last year and they seem even worse so far.
After that roadie to Cubs and Twins, followed by home series with AZ A’s of West Sacramento and Royals, road trip vs. Nats and Tigers.
Hopefully some of the bats get going, SPs survive first inning blues, etc.
fwiw: since HR in first AB Bryce Eldridge is 3-20 with 1 double 3 BBs and 10 Ks…vs. AA pitching in Richmond. Meanwhile another good outing for Harrison vs. Reno. More encouraged about pitching that could help big club than position players.
An excellent synopsis, as usual WilleDav. The schedule does look somewhat lighter this coming month. However, I recall over the last couple seasons, entering series against weaker opponents and coming away with disappointing results. Whereas, oftentimes the opposite would occur with our strongest showings against the tougher teams. I guess that’s just baseball: difficult to predict.
But yes, we are mostly healthy all around. It looks like there isn’t much happening in the Minors to get very excited about or that will have imminent impact here in the bigs.
Great point about SPs surviving first inning blues and how it’s crucial to get some of these bats going. If we don’t and we continue the trend of the last week of April, even weak teams like the Rox could set the lighter schedule advantage against us.
Maybe homestand gets Flores going again. He’s raking at home, .364 BA and OPS of .904. On previous homestand he was 9-22, but it ended 1-11 vs. Texas followed by 0-8 in SD.
Yep, Flores is one, Chappy another. Certainly need a lot more from Adames. Bailey needs to step it up a bit & same for Ramos. That’s 5 guys! Lee, Yaz & Fitz have been consistent, which is great but not enough. And the bench of Huff, Koss, Villar & Matis is pretty light weight.
I unintentionally left out Wade. Maybe that’s Freudian. I really, really liked the Late-Night version of him. Wade will never be an Alonso but was hoping for this season & the next (if necessary) he’d be at least league average, hit 12-15 HRs and be a decent defender until Eldridge is ready. That may have been wishful thinking.
My contention for 3 years now has been, if Yaz is starting they haven’t done enough in the offseason(s). Color me shocked by Flores strong showing, and he’s due a slump, but we all knew what LWade was, and Koss is a real shot in the dark as a bench guy. Schmitt was even doing pretty well before he went down, but Matos is never gonna scare anyone at the plate and Villar is a AAAA guy through and through.
I don’t know. As LA signs 4 of the top 20 free agents, we do the minimum. Like Adames, and Verlander is fine, but it isn’t nearly enough.
Right on Unca. Everything you say there is incontestable.
As far as the Dubs go, I’d have Knox just crush Brooks for him hacking Steph’s hand. Fuck this shit. They need to fuck Brooks up. Since he is all-in on diving at guys knees and whacking injured parts, just forearm Brooks in the ear hole going up for a rebound.
I’m with you Chuck!
Fitz on IL with a rib fracture. Big bummer! Wisely coming up.
oh man, super bummed about that! Fitz was doing some damage, one of our better producers.
Was that from diving on dirt play few days ago? wow
I believe so.
Still hopeful Melvin and Buster can right the ship. I pulled up this post from Sept of 2024, the day Buster was hired.

At the time, I felt it was a strategy to divert attention away from Johnson Jr. and indirectly blame Zaidi. Ergo . . . Adames was really the only + signing this off season and although the season is still very young, he hasn’t done much to cause us to forget Craw. However, I also endorsed signing Adames and Alonso before anyone else did – a month before Zaidi was fired. So, perhaps I was way wrong about Adames and who knows if Alonso will continue to rake???
Anyway, it is still early in the season, so maybe this is just a rough patch they are going through? Unfortunately, we are in the toughest division in MLB and we can’t afford too many of these losing streaks.
Damn. One of the few hitting the ball. Need to make hay on the Sherpas.
Minasian was Posey’s pick for GM. I’m interested to see what he does to improve depth of roster given injury to Fitz. the non regulars, with Koss moving into starting role, are Schmitt (on IL), Villar who has been in all of 2 games, Matos Huff and now Wisely. That’s not a group that inspires much confidence when regulars need a rest or for a platoon advantage…nor much help for any of the regulars that might continue to struggle at bat. Encarnacion is supposed to miss all of May and I haven’t seen timetable for his return.
so it’s back to the usual suspects/standard lineup.
Nice pick up of the throw by Adames.
Nice pick off, Bailey!
Chapman from OF grass guns guy down at 1b.
and it was a bullet.
Freeland’s 0-4 ffs.
Do something.
Hey!
WILBUR! Nice at bat!
Chappie Oracled.
There you go. Add on add on add on.
Yazzle dazzle.
YAZ!
Now, that’s more like it!
Doval in early. Rogers Walker next. I wish he brought in someone else and keep Doval back. A vote of confidence to Walker?
No fuss No muss
Doval
7 pitches, 2 outs.
geez .. this Doval is, at times, a nice buncha guys!
Goddamn Rogers.
Oh fuck.
Nailed . . . sigh.
I had a feeling Wisely was going to do something stupid and try to steal 2nd.
In the minors, he stole a lot of bases, but his success rate was putrid, (see Montgomery Double AA stint).
ugh
What a terrible loss.
Pfffttt. Losing to a team that is on pace to lose a new MLB record 135 losses. Wow.
And the curse of the walk off inside the park HR (including little league edition) continues, 2013 redux. 🙂
Colo riding a 2 game winning streak. With 6 wins.
losing that way, in our park, to that shit team … fuck me!
Verlander no wins in 7 starts. He may have to play until 50 to get 300.
Seriously, all joking aside, he was pretty good this evening.
Or to 263.
OK, let’s hear all the good things about Rogers…
At least he’s the only Rogers on the team now?….
Ha!
Rogers is the obvious fall guy for this loss, but really, way too many low batting averages in that lineup. We keep hoping some key guys “step up”, but it’s possible they are who they are, and what is needed more is another good bat or two… as most of us thought during the offseason. Charlie mentioned let’s see if Minasian can be a good GM and find some help. The likes of Koss, Wisely (can Meckler be far behind?) ain’t gonna do it.
Exactly right Paul. Without some real help, instead of last year’s 81/81, we are looking at 82/80 .. maybe.
The only bat Buster added is Adames.
Essentially, the rest of the offense is the same as last year…
Having Lee breaking out and Flores healthy (tho another year older) has been a force in changing the complexion of the team. It’s true, Adames was the only addition, and a game like tonight (esp with Lee only getting a AB late) sure was reminiscent of last years squad. Same flies, different shit.
