Tough Series
We are about to see what Posey is all about. It was stupid to not address first base in the off season and now we are in a mess at that position. Counting on that dude from the Mexican league to come fix all this is a mistake. And Wade can’t do it anymore. Like, at all. He can’t do anything anymore.
I’m gonna be at the game Tuesday with 5 other soldiers. We will storm the gates and take what is rightfully ours…..
Yeah, just like the NFL major league baseball is a ‘what have you done for us lately’ league. Kinda like prize fighters it’s hard to tell when it’s really over. The way we/media have been touting Eldridge I just figured they would bring him up sooner than later. But it looks like he’s farther away from being ready at least from what I thought. We absolutely need to do something at 1st base. The whole team needs to start hitting again to be taken seriously. Also our defense seems to take a day off here and there.
No idea where we would be without Lee and Yaz . . . Mea Culpa – I have never really liked Yaz, but give credit where credit is due – he has consistently been good this season and for $9 million +, that’s a freakin’ bargain for what he has done in some 150 ABs thus far this season.
Regarding Lee, this is a Zaidi signing, and he’s my favorite player, displaying “5 tools” consistently. He keeps this up, it will be a crime for him not to be on the All Star team.
Lee is my favorite player too.
mine too
Watching some of Yankees vs. A’s, Golds dominated and is off to hot start with 4 HRs 20 rbis batting .349 with slash line of .398/.500/.898. He’s gonna be 38 this September and coming off 2 disappointing seasons with Cards–HRs dropped from 35 to 25 and 22, OPS slid from .981 to .810 to .716 last year. Not to mention Golds benefits from hitting at yankee stadium and in minor league park over weekend while batting in front of Judge, putting up other worldly numbers right now.
I think if Posey had signed him for $12.5 million at end of December like Yanks did there would have been uproar here at the time. I’m less interested in water under bridge about what might have been than what the next move is for Posey and GM. There are 8 other spots in lineup.
Eldridge, not to mention Bo Davidson, surely won’t thrill us for a year or two. Luciano is hitting supersonic HRs but whiffing a lot. And god knows what he looks like in the OF. Jerar will hit better than Lamont but can he outplay Wilmer at 1B? Meanwhile, a lot of pitchers I’d expect to have trade value are working out in Sac, as well. A deal for a 1B is a pretty good idea.
exactly. Then why try to cheap-o our way at the discount first base aisle this year? Brebbia aisle bullshit
Fair enough. I think it would have been lot easier in off season to upgrade OF. After losing Lee last season there was no one to handle CF other than Yaz and he’s lot more valuable in RF. Now that Lee is back, Matos is only backup and he’s not someone I have high expectations. Matos right now has worse OB than Wade does and he isn’t a power hitter either. Banking on 3 guys to hold it down over season, even with Yaz doing as well as he is, seems short sighted. McCray is just not ready to play MLB and might not ever be
I understand Giants could use Flores more at 1b and he has better splits off RHP than vs. LHP. He’s been rbi machine but how well he can hold up, idk.
9 game homestand starting with 3 vs. Division rival DBax and 3 more hosting A’s then Royals next week. Giants are 12-5 at home and only allow 3.5 runs per game with +14 run differential.
Yeah, the fucking ‘wait-and-see’ approach from Farhan was HIS reason for dumpster diving.
He had the luck (bad it turns out) of having the bore corps all come alive for one last hurrah that netted 107 wins and postponed the purge. And one fucking check-swing.
But anyway, here we are waiting and seeing about Eldridge. Therefore sticking with Night-Night Lamont.
The hot start was nice and giddy, but reality seems to be setting in. The defense is wobbly, the pitching is great at times, weird at other times, and the closer situation is becoming a bit of a hairdo. The hitting, minus Flores (I’m shocked), Yaz (I’m shocked), and JH Lee (cool), is the only thing keeping us aloft.
Got to take care of shit at home against our div rivals, the snakes.
Yaz with a gaffe. Damn.
well, no big thing after all. Adames almost waited too long to throw across the IF on the next play, but again no big thing. But they need to sharpen up on D. Good luck Wilmer.
Slusser says, “If cleared, Schmitt and Fitzgerald could start rehab assignments tomorrow.”
Schmidt takes over at 1st, ya think?
Let’s hope. It’s kinda telling that our DH tonight is batting .179.
Fitz was doing great before he got hurt.
yeah Unca, here we are mid-game, G’s with 1 hit; opponent 5.
and yes, Fitz was a real spark plug. Ramos was that yesterday. Maybe it’s Ramos & Lee today.
Nice job getting out of trouble for Verlander.
Wilbur getting closer to the glue factory.
Woburn not helping much lately .. wonder what’s up with him?
*Wilbur*
”Woburn” .. WTF?
I think that’s a town in eastern Mass…
Corbin Carroll was 0-8 lifetime against Verlander tonight A walk and 2HR’s ..
Yay Koss!
Dammit Koss!
Koss picks up the RBI.
$$ hit from Koss. Good job rook!
The good Koss, the Kossly Koss..
Another winless outing for Verlander.
This late, why not pinch run for Wilmer at 2nd. He’ll be challenged to score the tying run on a single…
On the 3-2 pitch that Adames struck out on, the FS1 announcer actually said “Flores not moving at first.”
Verlander may make the all star game without a win to speak of.
Giants flummoxed by Kelly’s sinker. Fortunately, that’s it for him. Good riddance.
I get it, Melvin probably thought getting a single was very problematic, and he was right…
Yeah with this offense Justin’s heading to a Verlandercain showing..
Whoa! Ramos doing it all.
I thought we would be running a little more.
Fuck this.
Hella battle from Ramos and he wound up smoking it to deep LF.
Damn, Ramos robbed out of 4-4 night.
Damn. If it wasn’t for bad luck, we wouldn’t have any luck at all.
Hypothetical question – if Chapman is hitting under .220 by the All Star break, will San Francisco fans boo him? Personally, I doubt it.
Wow what a catch Ramos just smoked that ball at 111mph and LF Gurriel extended over his head at the track and caught it..
Ramos is their offense and I’m predicting another A/S appearance he’s the real deal..
WTF is Butler doing? JK is attacking the rim and Butler is content to drive and pass. The Warriors had their best run with Butler on the bench and JK in.
Yeah, Woburn (pronounced Woo-Burn) is a Boston suburb, to the northeast. Used to be a town of tanning facilities, big Superfund hazardous waste site there. Now ok I guess.
“I’m gonna be at the game Tuesday with 5 other soldiers. We will storm the gates and take what is rightfully ours…” Take some bats, they might need you….
Four straight L’s by a combined 5 runs. Rearrange the deck chairs, the ship still be sinking.
Oh well. Butler misses 3 layups in a row and the Dubs commit 2 offensive fouls and the 5 point lead is a 12 point deficit.
And the Giants with another stellar offensive output. Back to boring baseball.
May malaise and hard luck. Bad combination. Somebody needs to join Ramos on offense.
Amazing how bad and stupid this team can be. When all else fails commit an offensive foul and forget to block out.
geezus, Whatta crummy loss .. pfft
great to see this streak by Ramos, I hope it lasts. Any one else think Flores
looks slower than normal Flores?
“May malaise” is a perfect description xoot. I already said the fans wont boo this team. Melvin doesn’t strike me as the “Patton” type for inspirational speeches and/or tipping over the dinner table spread. Will Buster intervene? Dunno . . .
I hope someone does before we reach June and find ourselves looking above to other teams in the wild card chase (could happen as soon as the end of this series with the Snakes).
Well, for no other reason than to try it, they should bring up Eldridge no matter how hard he struggles in Sacto.
Its ridiculous how easy T-wolves can just blow by the Warriors ole defense for easy buckets, series is over no way can Warriors win game 6..Their old and gassed out to the youthful T-Wolves..
Oops make that game 5 whatever watching the Warriors is watchable and quite draining..
Butler’s lack of aggressiveness was weird to say the least.
JK is cementing himself as someone they should keep rather than let go.
But without Steph these guys were toast anyway.
DBax RHP taking cue from soft tossing LHPs that have bedeviled Giants hitters with sliders and changeups in dirt. If rookie Koss is guy driving in run (again), rest of guys besides Ramos need to step up. Maybe return of Fitz breathes little more life into them.
