A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Miami Stinks

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 30, 2025

….but will that even matter? Feels like the last 15 years or so our record vs Miami is probably pretty bad. Anyone know how to look that up? If they somehow start hitting, who knows, we might not lose too many…..

Miami can hit and have been lately. Until proving otherwise, the Giants can’t. Giants will do well to take 1.

Sorry to see today that Klay Thompson’s good buddy, Rocco the bulldog, was put down last weekend. It was always good fun to see Klay with Rocco, particularly vids of both on Klay’s boat in the Bay. Never a good day when you have to put your dog down, regardless of who you are…

give him a legitimate shot. Jerar will be ready to start his next week apparently. Poor Lamont needs the 200 day IL.

On KNBR earlier this week, Buster didn’t say it outright but when asked about Wade’s useless bat, the very tepid support Buster gave sure sounded like Wade will be hitting the road soon…

Oy, MLBTR lead story is will Adames turn it around or not?

Was going there to look up story that Orioles CF Cedric Mullins was placed on IL. Had great April/awful May (sound familiar?), and is a rental. O’s are in rare category of non contending team with some hitters that might be available soon.

Met her and Jack Lord on location while filming Hawaii Five-0 on our street in Honolulu. She was sitting in one of those “director” type chairs, watching the filming. Quite approachable and very friendly. Myself, my brother, and a couple of friends were 12-13 years old. She chatted with us, signed autographs, etc.

Conversely, Jack Lord was a complete asshole, when he saw us approaching, he hurriedly walked away and “hid in his trailer.” My brother and I called him names from outside his trailer, but didn’t get a reaction, until we threw rocks at his trailer. He ran outside, chasing us, and swearing up a storm, ” . . . *%&#^%_#.” Too funny.

Anyway, RIP Loretta. I’ll always remember her kindness to a bunch of kids.

Per KNBR, Giants hitting .143 with RISP last 11 games. Dead last in MLB. Now, add that to how often do they even get any RISP…

      • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on May 30, 2025 at 4:58 pm

Probably cause I believe the Giants don’t know that home plate is a friend in baseball, if you cross it ,it counts as a run Baldy. They think of it as a “Forbidden Zone” like Planet of the Apes, but Charlton Heston said I don’t give a shit about these mangy Apes I’m going there anyway…

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on May 30, 2025 at 5:39 pm

Yeah well done by Harrison. 80 pitches 3 BBs 5Ks. Lowers ERA to 2.51

    • Locojuan's avatar Locojuan said, on May 30, 2025 at 5:40 pm

      Yep. Good game for him.

    • bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on May 30, 2025 at 5:46 pm

just proves what we are all saying. Pitching is not the problem. Hitting with RISP, now that’s a big issue, same as last year. So far, 8 hits today is nice. 2 for 9 RISP, 8Ks not so good.

  21. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on May 30, 2025 at 5:46 pm

This game is looking very familiar. Leave RISP early on, good G’s pitching early to keep the oppo down. Then, mid-late game its gets squirrelly. Hopefully this one ends differently than recent experience…

    • bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on May 30, 2025 at 5:50 pm

very good observation Snarkk. Those squirrelly mid-game innings have been doing us in.

I thought same, but no damage done.

  23. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:04 pm

Melvin won’t give Harrison any leash compared to Webb are Ray.5 innings and cruising on 80 pitches,1 hit,5K’s 3 walks. You want to stretch him out right? Then luckily they got thru Beck unscathed but took Walker now Miller to get out of it..

Always dicey bringing in Rogers with RISP, but he got the K.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:22 pm

Exactly. With his penchant for getting grounders, that was very risky, but he got it done. No way that would happen if the oppo were a NL West team that sees him a lot…

  31. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:31 pm

Why can’t the Giants challenge the hit batter call? It was a foul off the bat. That’s crazy ////

  32. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:33 pm

Why didn’t the Giants challenge that HBP it clearly hit the knob on Lopez?

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:41 pm

  33. bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:37 pm

3 outs to go .. hope Doval can er done. As usual we’ll probably just roll over in the 9th so Doval’s gotta step up

the more I see if Fitz the more I like him. Seems very focused player.

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:47 pm

Yeah the more I see Fitzgerald like I’ve said before he should be batting 2nd after Lee and Yaz near the bottom..

  35. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:40 pm

Well nice job by Doval to get out of it,as the mystery of his Mom section approved I guess?Kinda weak they can’t figure out who she is?Especially he first time to ever see him pitch?

  36. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:43 pm

Another base running error. Fitz steals 2nd, throw goes through to center, and he’s clueless. Aren’t they taught to immediately look at the 3rd base coach to see if they should get up and run to third due to just that scenario?

    • Locojuan's avatar Locojuan said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:58 pm

And both times that he went, Yaz struck out. Maybe go when there aren’t two strikes.

  37. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:46 pm

  42. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:55 pm

Wow, Doval comes through. Nice, with a touch of doubt.

When Doval has stuff like that, what’s between his ears is the only thing that can stop him. He didn’t let the walk get to him, unlike last year. Still, IDK why he jacks around with the slider and cutter when he’s flinging a 100 mph two-seamer that moves…

    • bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on May 30, 2025 at 7:39 pm

”Nice, with a touch of doubt.” That’s is about as succinct a description as is possible.

  43. willedav's avatar willedav said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:55 pm

Took 7 pitchers but Doval finished them off. 4 out save in 18 pitches.

  44. bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:58 pm

well, a win, is win, is a win, and we’ll take it but … damn, as everyone is pointing out, not an inspiring win.

  45. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on May 30, 2025 at 6:58 pm

About the only way the Gs can win right now is have the staff spin a shutout, and that’s just what it did tonight.

A win is a win, but this one doesn’t stop the huge concern about a stubbornly flaccid offense…

  47. willedav's avatar willedav said, on May 30, 2025 at 8:29 pm

Posey called Bailey “instrumental part of our success.” Had great game today–2 hits including double, picked runner off 1b, caught 7 different guys on mound that combined for shutout. giants didn’t do much but they were better than other guys-all that matters.

Giants are 2nd NL for fewest runs allowed per game and have 2nd lowest ERA at 3.22. If he hits fine, but if not there are 8 other guys in lineup to pick up for him. Good to see Chapman get going today making some loud contact.

Beauty of baseball–unlike basketball where your best scorers can take 30 shots a game, each guy in the order only bats once through. Ohtani leads off then has to watch 8 other guys hit before he gets another shot.

    • Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen said, on May 30, 2025 at 8:35 pm

Yes, and in baseball, your best hitters should get as many ABs as possible, meaning… put the best ones at the top of the order. Really don’t get some of Bobo’s lineups…
