sigh, yes score would have won it last night. that was great photo shoot in Bucket of everyone at the game with presentation etc. I do have one of those shirts but couldn’t make it.

thanks to Loo for Billy martin story, pretty funny. As he said the lineup out of hat worked in sense that it loosened everyone up even if it was loony tunes-Norm Cash leading off light hitting SS Ed Brinkman at cleanup.

2nd inning Fitz and Ramos put ball in the air instead of the ground with sacks loaded…

More worried about Lee than others; 3 Ks last night BA down to .275. High hopes for him but pitching seems to have adjusted, so has to get back on top of things.

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on June 3, 2025 at 7:10 am

lot of stuff away to Lee, including FBs he’s been unable to get around on and uninterested in trying to slap to LF.

“Imagine how good the NYM pitchers stats would be if they actually got to face NYM Mets hitters.” from Eric D in discuss thread of Mets-LA game in TA last night.

And think about that one for Giants pitchers.

@Loo–what was Roberts giveaway last night?

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 3, 2025 at 7:29 am

Not PH for lefties vs. Jose Castillo, as Mets fan Dominick C. said in same thread?

      • willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 3, 2025 at 7:32 am

Tanner Scott? Dogs fans giving Roberts grief for sticking with him.

      • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on June 3, 2025 at 9:18 am

Yes Willie, I had one eye open but I remember the Mets were stuck with a lefty reliever cause of the 3 batter rule and he let at least one too many lefties hit against him when he had righties galore ready to PH. Decent chance it cost them the game…

KNBR is using a funny theme this morning. 1976. This Giants team has the worst offense since August of 1976

  4. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 3, 2025 at 9:34 am

    Oh no.

Pads starter tonight has just been brought up — his first ever MLB start. That’s usually death to even a moderately hefty Giants offense. Maybe if a bunch of Giants are like Schmitt last night and are late getting into the box they’ll have a negative score tonight…

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on June 3, 2025 at 10:08 am

is Wade out for any extended period of time? Why did we burn Matos’ last option yesterday?

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 3, 2025 at 1:34 pm

X-rays negative for a break. Contusion only, unless Giants medicos get out the magnifying glass and eventually find a break.

I strongly suggest he be put on the 10-day IL for his hand contusion, thus open up that spot for somebody whose bat has at least a fleeting familiarity with hits rather than repel them…

  5. willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 3, 2025 at 10:25 am

Padres won the game in 10th and while there’s something to be said for bunt to get man to 3b vs. low scoring Giants, it’s still not great move for visiting team. Analytics have shown the optimal move for visiting team in 10th is try and get 2 runs (not by giving up crucial out), not one.

Which is what Mets did top 10th of their game at Latrine, and even though Dogs got one back in bottom half they lost. Mets first 2 hitters in 10th both got hits and they scored twice. No bunts, no problem.

  6. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on June 3, 2025 at 11:36 am

Why can’t they just keep extra innings the same through the 1th inning. If there’s still no winner THEN they do this stupid ghost runner.

Eldridge promoted to Sac, joining the team manana. (Slusser)

  8. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 3, 2025 at 1:31 pm

Bryce Eldridge elevated to AAA Sac. River Cats on a long roadie, so Eldridge won’t be up to SF for at least a couple of weeks. Apparently, his glove down in AA has been more than a bit metallic – he really needs to get that in shape…

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on June 3, 2025 at 1:48 pm

there’s no chance he’s ready to play first base right now. He probably needs at least the entire year. Or, they could just DH him but then when is he going to learn to field?

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 3, 2025 at 2:03 pm

I would DH him in SF if he rakes in Sac, which he should since the PCL is far more hitter friendly that the Squirrels league. He can learn more of the glove over next winter. Every SF loss resulting from comatose hitting is a loss wasting top 5 pitching…

      • willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 3, 2025 at 2:43 pm

Right Flav, it’s not as easy as it looks. Even Schmitt looks goofy there at times with footwork. Not to mention scoops on low throws. In discussion about Arraez (FA 2026) he rates pretty low as 1b defensively and he’s been doing it a year at least now.

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on June 3, 2025 at 2:06 pm

yeah the fast track to sac is what’s notable. See how he handles the pitchers and develops the mitt. Have to suppose that his coaching / training will be better in N Cal too. He’s only 20 yrs old.

I still have mine, and break it out proudly once in a while. Like last year in August when I took the snarkettes to the Giants v. Mariners at T-Mobile. I doubt anybody who sees it knows what it means, but I do — reminds me of good times at the Yard…

  11. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on June 3, 2025 at 2:02 pm

The Giants batting order just kind of flows by. After a few innings, I can’t remember who’s batting lead-off, or 3rd, or 5th, and what does it matter? Mellencamp had a great album title: Nothin’ matters, and what it if did? Ramos’ ABs are interesting to watch. But the other guys not so much.

The Valkyries are off to a pretty good start for an expansion team. They are fun to watch. Minnesota and NY both seem on a mission to return to the finals. Last year NY barely beat Minny for the championship. The league has lots of other great players, but those are the two best teams, overall.

Reggie Miller. He’s on a quest to convince viewers he’s a 1990s NBA tough-guy. His constant references to the battles of the ’90s is tiresome.

Mets blew the save in the 9th and still defeated the Dodgers. That had solid entertainment value.

  12. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on June 3, 2025 at 2:04 pm

Oh yeah they do and Chase is full of fans rocking it when they do well.

idk how long Coach will stick with her let it fly 3 point philosophy though since they are so bad at it. One of the new players to league starting Forward #13 Salaun took 10 shots in last game, making 2 while going 1-7 from 3. Team shot 35 and made 9 of them. Not very efficient or smart basketball. 3 bench players combined to go 0-10 (Van Loo Leite Talbot) from floor missing all their 3s as well.

  16. willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 3, 2025 at 3:35 pm

Offense struggles by Giants are team wide thing. Almost every hitter in lineup left guys on base or had fails when they could have done something to prolong rallies or drive in runs. They had great chance early to get Webb the lead and Fitz and Ramos (2 guys with bright futures) couldn’t do it. No one else picked them up all night.

Jeff Passan’s early 2025 “trade deadline preview” is a quick synopsis of each MLB teams need, along with potential players to get rid of and/or obtain. Disagree totally with him identifying Wilmer as a potential trade candidate. I just don’t think the Giants would get rid of their “quiet” hero, nor would the fans like it.

As I alluded to last night, the Padres GM wont be sitting on his hands during the trade deadline (Passan agrees). I just hope Preller doesn’t pursue the guy I recommended the Giants pursue a couple of weeks ago on the Flap – Luis Robert Jr. (as Passan thinks he will).

I would love for Johnson Jr. to give Posey permission to do everything possible see Robert Jr. play in the Orange and Black. Anyway, here is Passan’s column:

    https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45434376/mlb-2025-early-trade-deadline-preview-all-30-teams-jeff-passan-buehler-bichette-gallen#sf

Jim Marshall Vikes DE passed today age 87.

Remember that play like it was yesterday, Lon Simmons “… and he’s running the wrong way.” Bruce Bosley I think pats him on shoulder in end zone as Niners get safety.

Simmons was really good at football and funny as hell. Could really give it to Niners when things weren’t going well.

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 3, 2025 at 6:36 pm

Blade thanks for link to Passan column. I could see Giants doing Flores a solid by trading him to serious contender if things go south for them and he was OK with it. He’ll be 34 in August and FA this offseason. Market hasn’t been kind to aging DH/1b guys, as witness non interest in Belt and others. Ramos only remaining young latin guy among position players.

They are playing and batting to lose. A five pitch ,1-2-3 go down and out bottom 9th is pathetic. Inexcusable AB approaches. Buster Posey needs to act like a leader and do something to change this free fall of offense…
