A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

We Will Take It

Silly way to win a game but every team gets those across the course of 162. Agreed on the psychotherapy for Adames and add Yaz and Bailey for some group therapy action.

Fitz at SS? “Ugly Beauty”, thanks Mr. B. Great tune by Monk. W is a W. Watching Ray throw his fastball to Tatis and Machado, late in game, should be lesson to Birds. He gets ahead of guys like Olson and then throws off speed junk, yikes. ” Alright Meat. Give em the heat!”

Birdsong did show grit and poise as things unravelled. I was surprised to see him take the mound again after the stormy fourth inning. Didn’t go much better of course but he gave Melvin as much as he had. Pen’s been strained lately. Birds 23 with just over 100 mlb innings total on his card. Tough kid.

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on June 7, 2025 at 8:07 am

oh, yeah. He also had that ball tossed at the ump from the upper deck to deal with. WTF?

Ha! I knew you’d catch that like Chappy on grounder.

Slusser said apparently it will be Schmitt at SS Sunday and they will leave Fitz at 2b. Off day Monday before road trip so 2 day break for Adames.

RE: Adames – Get his eyes checked, change his stance, move him closer or further from the plate, try a different bat – just fuckin do something!

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on June 7, 2025 at 7:30 am

he seems unable to bring that high leg step down at the right moment to meet a breaking ball. Makes it look like a vision failure, I think. But I don’t know. Isn’t the problem always ninety per cent mental and only half physical?

Adames goes with the flow tries Aaron Rowand’s Constipation stance.Adames says:”It might look like the shits, but so’s my batting average..

Unlike other “East Coasters” who stuck with game to bitter (or sweet) end, I crashed in 3rd with Giants rolling 3-0. Fun catching highlights this morn.

Might we look back at end of year to June 4th and rally from 5-1 down to Padres as start of something special? I still have my doubts and more focused on getting thru June unscathed. But hard not to like grit of 2025 Giants. This team showing resilience which was lacking in recent years.

One question to throw out: who’s responsible for recurring egregious baserunning? No doubt players have accountability. But this is systemic problem. Getting caught off 1st twice in one game inexcusable. Do Giants have bench coach assigned to baserunning? Are 1st & 3rd base coaches partially to blame?

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 7, 2025 at 8:11 am

yeah good ? Dean about base running. Fitz did say at time he knew he’d be ghost runner on 2b after he got picked off.

      • Dean's avatar Dean said, on June 7, 2025 at 8:44 am

Thanks for educating me. My bad for missing game. Though overall baserunning reminds me of my little league days on Princeton Bank & Trust Phillies.

watched hockey game and followed Giants on MLB.com. Unfortunate none of major networks chose to air Stanley Cup.

Kimbrel dfa’d today. The preying eagle pseudo asana looked ridiculous last night, didn’t it?

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 7, 2025 at 10:50 am

Velo down to 91. But why bother in first place?

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on June 7, 2025 at 10:54 am

reminds me of post steroid Gagne with Boston in the 2007 PS. I hadn’t seen him recently. I couldn’t believe how weak he seemed.

  8. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on June 7, 2025 at 10:30 am

You can add Fitzgerald for psychological evaluation with both his base running and hitting which is just as bad as Adames is right now, both in huge slumps, you can give Adames finally a dayoff with Schmitt, but who plays 2nd for Fitzgerald who needs a dayoff as well,Flores?not likely, but only other option..

  9. willedav's avatar willedav said, on June 7, 2025 at 10:39 am

per TA Braves beat writer David O’Brien, Kimbrel pitched here for Braves as rookie in 2010 playoffs. Worked 2 perfect innings in a game. Kimbrel said he liked pitching here too.

Now braves DFA Kimbrel . Wow these guys are in total disarray.

Hey Mr. B: Horse named Miles Ahead won 3rd race at Churchill Downs this morning. Beautiful melody. Heard Turtle Island String Quartet version recently.

Wow, what a great name for a horse! I had to look up the date of that album: 1957. Also, completely forgot about the two part medley which the 2nd part is the beautiful JJ Johnson tune, Lament. I played that on a gig the other night.

    Dom Smith with another hit.

He’s had more hits and impact in the few days he’s been here than Wade had in his last couple of weeks.

Followed, of course, by a weak pop out by Adames. If I were Adames, I just wouldn’t swing at the first two pitches of every AB. He’s always deep behind in the count, so why not take the fist two and see if he can get some count leverage and force better pitches for him to hit..

Doesn’t matter, as Ramos made an out to end the inning, but this guy Johnson just keeps hitting.

Yaz, Adames, Bailey & Fitz virtual automatic outs these days. Can’t carry nearly half starting lineup with no production.

Giants are turning their fans into masochists…

harold Reynolds broke down Adames so far. used graphics to show 8-10 long flyballs at oracle that would have been homers with the brewers:(

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 7, 2025 at 5:25 pm

Buster and crew had to know that would happen. The lack of actual hard contact otherwise is what the killer is. Maybe he hates cold weather…

  33. Dean's avatar Dean said, on June 7, 2025 at 4:11 pm

Game ball should be split btw Chappy and Braves replacement manager for pulling Elder after 8 innings. 12K’s, 0 walks. Elder could’ve pitched to midnight and Giants still would’ve been stuck on one run.

4-0 in the Dominator era… haha. Don’t know about you, but my Giants FB feed keeps showing Chappie and his somewhat sexy wife and sometimes just his wife. Hey, keep those pics coming, whatever works….

Last 5 games before today Bailey was 6-17 (at least 1 hit in all 5) with 2 doubles, both off RF wall. anchors pitching like today when Webb K’d 10 with zero walks. he’s fine.

    • Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen said, on June 7, 2025 at 8:29 pm

Yeah, Bailey is fine. With a little more production from the backup C, even more fine. But really, Adames… I keep thinking he’ll be fine too, but he looks completely lost. Great guy, good IFer, good cheerleader, but FFS…… fix it, dude.

      • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on June 7, 2025 at 9:16 pm

He’s a better hitter than Mark Bailey, nowhere close to Ed Bailey…
