Quick Change
Earlier this week it felt like this team was done. Now we can’t stop winning in the most improbable of ways. Strider is still fumbling around trying to find his way this year. Let’s win another one.

Atl came in here on a 4 game losing streak having blown a 6 run lead in the 9th vs the D-Backs. Keep piling it on.
3 3 1 0 1. Runs scored by LA in recent losses (5 of last 7). Pitching is what beats them, not offense.
their own pitching

What you said . . . exactly.
for all the doom, at this point in season LA has 1 more win than Giants. Unbelievable.
Yeah, it’s fun. This is resilient if nothing else.
Sorry, meant this team is resilient
Ryan F. In Athletic (Dodgers thread Fabian Ardaya): Most dangerous job in sports: Dodgers starting pitcher.
Atl has been losing in the most brutal of ways lately. Don’t forget they blew a 5 run lead vs AZ before they came here. They gotta just wanna mail this game in and get on a plane home, right?
Yeah. As my NYC buddy at work used to say, “Heads will roll.”
Yeah I’m sure they have “Georgia on their Mind” ready to play on their flight home after a Giants Sweep and a possible tie for 1st place..Go figure.
Weirdest thing I’ve ever seen for the first time Melvin said:That ball from the stand from the upper deck almost hitting the umpire!
Not condoning it at all, but the dude had some arm and accuracy to time that whole play perfectly..
Atlanta is the Giants – last week’s version.
Eldridge 0-3 last night. 3-13 in Sacramento with grand slam. 4 BBs 4 Ks.
Catfish Hunter pitched the last 5 innings of the 15 inning 1967 ASG. They still had 3 other guys left in the pen…
The game still meant something then and I know I watched it because I would never miss one in the 60’s. But, I don’t remember it

Pretty early in the day for overcooked crab sandwiches.
Schmitt at SS for Adames. Casey has about 1/5 ABs, but numbers eerily similar for BA, OPS, extra base hits, BBs/Ks. See what happens.
the doom scroll of bad work reflected on umpire scorecards today is as ugly as usual except for Gabe morales in SF yesterday. Apparently, out of 145 called pitches, he blew only two. Both favored Webb, but not profoundly. Ozuna got rung up to end the top of the fourth on a pitch off the plate–2-2 count, no one on base. WTF did the braves mgr get tossed over that? I couldn’t tell from the radio feed.
If only Morales were as good at calling checked swings. Anyway, I bet the small cohort of competent mlb umps actually looks forward to the ABS system arriving (possibly) next season.
i am so sick of grading umpires and stupid pitch framing. Auto strike zone yesterday, please.
knowing when to challenge will replace framing as the sly catcher’s super power. It’ll be great. The speed at which ABs works will please everyone, too.

WTF? There should’ve been half a dozen hand held fire extinguishers going Not my job, I guess.
Too funny . . . Sign says, “Get it while it’s hot.” hahaha
Aurillia beard reminds me of Sabean goatee.
That works. Good for Yaz.
Yaz with a sac fly, first of the season, 60 games in. Wow. We’ll take it…
they’re hitting ropes off roupp.
Get somebody up…
The catcher should go out to Roupp and give him a breather here. He’s wild and floundering some. WTF…
Another nice play by Dom.
Two new guys outstanding defensive plays – Johnson played the wall perfectly and Smith handled the grounder like a pro.
Smith uses that slick, otter-slide move again! He’s good over there.
Wade was an OFer converted to an average to average+ glove at 1B. Smith has OF in his background too, but he looks like 1B is his thing. In ’23 and ’24 with the Nats and other teams, he had over 2000 chances playing 1B…
Yaz strikes again. Down and in is his happy zone.
That and the earlier sac fly welcomed for sure, but finally, sheesh. That double improved him to a ridiculous 2 for 26 (.077) with RISP for the season…
hmm, 3 pop outs to short by Johnson, guess he’s been around just enough to catch the contagion.
Good one BB (“. . . catch the contagion.”) . . . still fucking laughing.
That tagline might be more appropos than the lame “Nothing like it” the Giants are using this season. Maybe a bit too soon after Covid, though…
All of high fastball what I saw. Lee needed time off I think, back issue
Casey came up two years ago and started out 26-76 (.342)
Since then: 62-333 (.188)
He’s too impatient, swings too early in an AB at marginal to crap pitches. So, he makes weak contact or none at all, a lot. Too bad, with his glove. But, he can’t seem to stop doing that, after a couple of seasons of coaching off/on at the MLB level. The oppo knows it…
he guesses at the plate nearly every at bat. Not a good approach.
Melvin stuck with him and Roupp got out of inning unscathed. Dreaded quality start but leaving with lead.
Maybe Walker getting some of his mojo back. Nice work there…
99 right by Ozuna.
sheesh .. 3 hits and we are leading by a run. C’mon Giants, let’s get some insurance runs.
Dang! Last thing you want to see. Hopefully Chapman OK.
You know the Braves are going to bunt to test him.
Glad they didn’t, but I’m surprised.
Giants base running. Nothing like it…
Beauty of slider to finish Braves off
Nice win, now off to Mile High.
happier than hell about the SWEEP, still not sure how we accomplished it.
Cue up more versions of Dust my Broom
Amazing win. Despite more dogmeat hitting.
3 hits, including 2 doubles.
1 for 6 with RISP.
I don’t know how long they can continue these great pitching scenarios to enable these wins, but here’s to hoping they can, particularly against better hitting squads than Atlanta…
I know I’m in a minority of one when it comes to stealing bases, but I wish the Giants would completely abandon it, except when you see a pitcher is simply not paying attention or completely ineffective at holding runners. The extra few runs you score over a season, if your team is even good at it, is just not worth it. The Giants are not good at it, and they shouldn’t waste their time trying to get better.
James would love this take if he still posted here.
Baggs who uses Bluesky now but not Twitter says LaMonte has been traded to the angels for cash considerations, which I suppose could mean season tickets to Disneyland.
sorry. Baggs actually wrote: “a player to be named or cash considerations.”
I love stealing bases. Puts pressure on the defense and especially for the crappy hitting team we are, it only needs 2 hits to score a run, not 3
Agree. Besides, I am bored with PITCHING ONLY games.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz . . .
